[Q] MultiUser Support on Official UK Stock ROM - Tab 2 7" - Galaxy Tab 2 General

Hi All,
I was wondering if the samsung original 4.2.2 stock ROM has multi user support. I just moved back from CM 10.1 and did not find it available straight forward. If it is not available, is there a way to enable it?

Sadly , Samsung didn't include this feature in ANY rom for the Tab 2, and as far as i can see, no custom rom has this either, I recall hearing of a group who tested it on our device, but it was scrapped for being far too unstable, slow and all around too much for our tabs to handle, I would think the tab 2, maybe overclocked if even would be enough to handle Multiwindow, but I don't know, I'd dig around a little bit , Google is your best friend! Would be cool to have it.

First -> CM supports Multi User
Second -> I never asked for multi window.

Lol sorry but I have to laff

Oh crap XD Sorry, this is what happens when i go on XDA after a few drinks and an allnighter XD sorry man XD

Acutally I saw someone saying there is an app to enable it.

Bad news. I updated only because I wanted multiple users option, and they've removed it? Or can I just not find it? Good that there's an update and all, but bad that stock features are removed.

Here is the app I think : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.sferadev.multipleuser&hl=en

Ah thanks for that, but I can't root my tab. It would violate corporate rules for accessing company email on the device. I'll just wait out the lifetime of this device now, and buy a nexus next time.

Maybe. But I mean when its battery is done for, that sort of thing. Or it breaks. I used to have it rooted and running CM but can't do that with our new Exchange email policy.

Some questions...

This will be my first Android tablet, but certainly not my first Android device. I've owned basically every Droid Verizon has to offer. SO, here are some questions that I'd like answered, if possible
1. Is it true that if I decline the TouchWiz update (for the WiFi model), I won't be able to get future updates? Let's say I decline the TouchWiz update and a week later, I want it. Can I get it again?
2. Can I change the quick-apps thing in the TouchWiz update without rooting? The thing with the memo pad, calculator, etc.
3. If I root, can I easily remove the screenshot button and quick-apps button from the TouchWiz update? I can tell I'm gonna hate them anyway...
4. Anything else I should know???
If you decline the Touchwiz update you will be losing alot more than updates. You will lose hardware GUI acceleration, advanced multitasking, settings specific to the Tab 10 hardware.
You will be able to change the quick-apps once someone develops a app to do so. Samsung has released the API.

I know about the good things it brings as well, but again, I just HATE the new launcher and screenshot button and quick apps.
Are you saying that when somebody DOES make an app, I won't need to be rooted?

1. I've seen people say that they still get notification for update after declining it first time. Shouldn't be a problem, but if it is, flash a custom rom.
2. At this moment no, I'm hoping in the future it can.
3. If root, you can remove the unwanted apps and freeze or remove the screenshot but it will not remove the button.
4. Do not listen to 5th element. He states a lot of BS knowledge he has and never provides proof, and also makes false statements about custom roms.

Not yet. In the dev section, Phantom (creator of starburst rom) has been busy porting 3.2 to the tab. It will have the "fixes" from TW while being vanilla.

Mini apps tray

Hello there, I have an unrooted galaxy tab with touchwiz ux running android 3.1. I was wondering if anyone knows how to change a couple of apps in the mini apps tray! Thanks for the help ahead of time.

Check it.
You can't change the apps in the touchwiz bar.
But try this out....

1) Again, Yes you can change the apps in the bar. Remember just because you dont know how to do it does not mean it cant be done. Samsung has released the API to do so.
2) Wizz Bar sucks. All it does is bring up shortcuts to apps which overtake the entire screen. The beauty of TouchWiz is that the apps run on top of whatever app you were already using and you can drag them around the screen. There is nothing like this in the market.

Remember if you can't provide proof its not done and don't give a link to a website that does not take us directly to the proof.
It seems that you like to make a new claim or a statement about something false for the week... This week the api, since tomorrow is a new week, what other false claims do you have? The pictures of the Sdcard slot in your tab, the color changing task bar...? Oh wait those were in the past. Can't wait to see your next lie.

Again, no you can't change the apps in the touchwiz taskbar. You my friend are a deranged person. The mini apps in the touchwiz taskbar are not like regular apps. They are different. Linking some website proves nothing except that you read some blogger as I stated before. Theoretically you can say things like an API is released but realistically you can do nothing as of right now. If you can please post some pics with your screen shot button of regular apps magically running as a mini app. If you cannot post your screen shot then you my friend are still a troll. Not a link, a screen shot.

I was making a dumb **** joke about the silly names their marketers came up with---it was late, a thousand pardons. I actually like the TouchWiz UI, except for the silly world time app.
I hear ya on the late thing. Learning about Android keeps me up way too late. I just re-read your post with your purpose explained. It is kind of funny now. I love touchwiz, except for the taskbar being grey.

LOL? You are comparing your S2 with S4? S2 is released on 2011, now we are 2013. It is obvious that you have ton of devs for S2.
S4 is barely released and you already want developpers to release app for S4? Do you know how many time do they developpers take to program an app? It is not as easy as talking, you know?
the phone still new dude
after 1 month sure got a lot developer already
yet, s2 is 2 years old ago phone, off course got a lot developer =_=
Yeah to be fair you're right. It has been pretty much a whole week now. They get paid so much for this work anyway that they should be working weekends too.

Light hearted banter mate. Just give it some more time. Not only is it still pretty new but Samsung are also still rolling out updates that change the environment as well (obvious one is the change to rooting for example)

[Q] ROMs that don't disable IR Blaster?

I'm just curious if there are any ROMs that a person could flash to their S4 SGH-i337 without losing access to the IR Blaster? I am currently running CM 10.1 and I love it, but I would really like to still be able to use apps like WatchON or Smart Remote without having to go back to the bloated and bogged down stock AT&T firmware.
Looking around I haven't really been able to find much about it. From what I understand is that it either won't ever happen or it might happen on 4.3 when they devs have more time to crack it... I haven't seen anything about any working with a custom ROM currently.
So, I was just wondering if anyone knows of any ROMs that still have access to the IR Blaster?
Any with touchwiz should be fine as long as you download samsung crappack. Correct me if i am wrong. But AFAIK its just aosp/aokp/cm that doesnt suplort due to the nature of requiring touchwiz framework.
Your right aosp tons will not get the functions of the extra sensors like the IR

Unless Samsung for some reason loves us and gives us the drivers. But that is never going to happen.

Also, most of the touchwiz roms have removed the bloatware, att seems to be the only one that bogged down my phone really bad as I have the samsung crappack on it and it runs great. I am running MDOB with no issues. Night and day difference without the ATT bloat.

YOu have to understand Samsungs end game which is Tizen. Their closed sourced OS. The give you the S4 and then the GE edition. They get you hooked on the gimmics they give you which means you will be more inclined to buy their Tizen devices. Also it is cheaper just to disable the sensors they remake the whole phone which is what would be needed.

[Q] Root after update?

I updated my Galaxy s5 AT&T before o knew that it would compromise rooting it. Will there be a root available for the updated version anytime so? If not, is there anyway to revert back to the old version?
This has been answered hundreds of times. No you can currently root and there is no way to go back. Only time will tell when a root method will be found

Unfortunately things like Samsung's air gestures, air view and really anything else that is exclusive to android on the s4 is owned and copyrighted (hopefully that's the right word) to Samsung. So it wouldn't be right, morally or legally, to use those in a custom rom. Perhaps in the future some of these features may be recreated. For example I know Task650's rom has stated he has the infrared blaster working, but I haven't confirmed myself due to using a rom other than aokp.

Is not so much copyright rules as it is custom code. The proprietary features from Samsung are not open source and not part of Android. In order for them to be included in another non-Samsung rom somebody would have to get source for these features.
