[Q] No Google+ push notifications - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I don't receive any notifications from the g+ app, although I enabled them in the app settings. What did I miss?

I am also looking for this answer because I have never gotten a single G+ notification and I have notifications enabled, too!

No one's got an idea? :/

Have you tried wiping data for Google+ and setting it up again?

Security for app launching?

Anyone know of an app or something that can lock the ability to launch a specific app? For example, I want to have it where just to launch email apps, you need a password. That way if I let a friend use my device they could play around with everything else but not get into my mail. Possible?

Bah...found a flaw. If a new email comes in the notification shows dang near the whole first paragraph of any message including who its from. Any way to disable gmail and stock email client notifications beyond the icon? As in no preview?

Uncheck "email notifications" in Gmail settings.

Will that still show an icon that you have new mail?

Google Now not showing any notifications

Hey guys, I have a quick question. I'm wondering why I am not getting any notifications with Google Now. As you see I do have things that can notify me such as the Nets game, and the weather. I checked all the settings, and everything seems to be in check. Did I do anything wrong?

Email

No matter which app I use for my mail, gmail or the stock android one, the notifications are just not consistent.
Sometimes I get them and sometimes I don't but my phone always tells me I have an email so I know its just the nexus 7 that's being funny.
I have checked settings for syncing and everything is on so does anyone know why?
Thanks.

WiFi connection good? Is your WiFi icon grey or blue?

Sounds stupid but you got push enabled haven't you? I made that mistake, or perhaps try the awake time of the app I once had mine set to push through the night and not be awake during the day
WiFi connection is perfect and I do have things set to push.

Repeated notifications?

Since yesterday I get repeated notifications for the same thing. For example I'll get a Twitter or Facebook notification. I'll click it and take action in the app, the notification is now gone as normal. A few minutes later I'll get the same notification again! Was wondering if this had something to do with Google Services Framework update since I'm running stock rom and this problem just started yesterday. Very odd. Anyone else?

Nope. I'm getting them on Facebook too. Think its a Google Push Notification issue that's related to the Google Services Framework update. That's my guess.

I'm getting the same issues on my Nexus 7 too so it definitely appears to be a server issue and not device specific. Hopefully they fix it soon.

Facebook was weird yesterday.

[Q] apps don't run in the background

I don't seem to be getting notifications from apps except a few like Gmail, cloud SMS & play store. I don't get from fb, fb chat, XDA etc. It seems like they don't really run in the background. It especially clear in games that they shut down as I leave them.
Don't have any of these problems on my Galaxy Nexus 4.2.2.

Are you enabling notifications within those particular apps? And do you leave games with the home or back button?
Many games will have to do some reloading if you switch away from them.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
They all have notifications activated and I always use the home button. Sometimes I actually do get the notifications but it's like half an hour later then my gnex where it's instantly.

Is this when the screen is off? If so, do you have WiFi set to never sleep when screen is off?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
Same here, my Nexus 7 almost NEVER gives me Notifications, and if it does its as you say like 30mins/1hour late, so by that time I've already seen what its notifying me of.
Very annoying !!
WiFi is one when screen is off.
Can't reproduce the problem on my gnex, it's just weird...
