Any Solution / Alternative to Picasas Sub Folder Problem? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I love everything about Picasa and all its features. Including syncing from my web albums directly to my Nexus 4's Stock Galley App.
But seeing as It does not support Subfolders/Sub Albums and It tends to just throw everything in a root folder, I'm trying to look for an alternative.
Is there any cloud based storage where I can put my pictures on and link them folders to my Stock Gallery App as Picasa does? While still keeping my folder structure? I am using dropbox at the moment, but unfortunately cant figure out how to shortcut to my pictures from my Gallery App

Gallery problem

I was using the stock gallery app to view my photos taken by the phone's cam, then i found there are unwanted files (pictures from other programs) showing up.
Is there a way to fix this? Thanks!
You have to add .nomedia files.
Have a look at “nomedia“ on the market
Great! It's solved.
Thanks!

Stop music image files coming up in gallery

Hey
Little problem with too many pics in my gallery. A lot of them are album art
Is there any advice to stop these from showing in my gallery?
Thanks

They must be in your download directory, when you save an image while browsing it goes there. Guess you could go into the directory and move the images elsewhere that the gallery app won't include. You could also uncheck images on device from showing in the gallery but I doubt you want to do that, I mean if your sending them all to say Dropbox, Facebook, Google or whatever and displaying those then you actually could go into content to display and click off device.

Use QuickPic from Play Store, and you can choose which folders to show i your gallery.
Just a suggestion if you want to use 3rd party apps to solve your problem.
How many years and this is still a problem???????
I still have not found the answer.
Do not want to install a 3rd party app.
.nomedia does not work.
embedding will take forever with the amount of albums one has.
tried renaming music folder to media but art still showed up in gallery.
Is there a quick and/or simple way of getting this done?

Gallery Hide folders

In the Samsung native gallery app, it shows folders like whatsapp images which I don't want to see. Please advise how to hide it. Any help?

Place an empty file named .nomedia in the directory that you don't want to be visible in the gallery. If it's already in the gallery, then also rescan media afterward. Or simply reboot.
The .nomedia flag tells media scanner to ignore that directory.

[Q] Any way to hide albums in the gallery?

I have a few different "Albums" (folders) that I like to be able to see in the Moto gallery app, but when I click on settings > Albums, it shows EVERY folder that has a picture or video in it. Which means every music download folder I have shows up since it has album art and every video/movie shows up that is in a different folder. So I have 100+ albums to scroll through to find the ones I want.
I tried deleting them, from within the gallery, but it deletes the actual folder on your phone/SD card....In the HTC gallery, you could use a feature called "Hide albums".......Is there anything like this for the Moto gallery?

if your albums are in different folders you could make a file using es file app and name it .nomedia and it wont show up in your gallery app. but if all your pics are in the same folder then none of them would show up in gallery.

No, they're all different folders. I have my basic folders I want to keep: Camera, Pictures (which I keep older pics in), Screenshots, Downloads, Wallpapers, ect... Then I have 97 music albums, each in it's own folder on my external SD card and then a "Movie-TV" folder with sub-folders in it: Doctor Who, Fringe, X-Files, and other nerd titles. All of these show up in my gallery.
I'll try the .nomedia trick, but adding that to 100+ folders is going to take a few minutes.... I was hoping there was an easier way, like there is on the HTC.

as far as I know this is the only way
You could just use quickpic gallery? It's nice, quick and light. And allows you to hide folders in bulk. It adds a .nomedia to them.
Also... If all the folders you don't want to see are in a single folder, you could put the .nomedia at the top level to have the others ignored...

Yeah, I've used QuicPic before and really liked it... I've heard some "bad things" about the latest update, or at least the new company that bought it?? I may give it a try anyways, I have nothing against a new company unless they introduce ads or something?
I also found the HTC Once M9 gallery and camera that works perfect on the MXP... I may just use that. The camera seems to work pretty well with our phones too, I may have it for my 2nd camera....and for when I hand my phone to someone to take a pic of me and they ask "where's the picture button"?
Creating a .nomedia file in the Music folder works.

Just got a used MXP last night after I broke the One Max I had been using and there weren't any good One Max's for sale. Big screen, stereo speakers, sd slot.... perfect. Had all previous HTC phones back to ppc6800.
I miss my gallery and Music HTC apps. I have 50gb of organized cd's on my sd card and I see the pictures in the gallery as all separate folders. I renamed my old sd card camera pictures folder from 100 media (htc save location) to camera (mxp save location) and it shows my camera roll with all 4,000 pictures and whatnot and adds new pics right inline. Kind of solved my gallery problem if I just stay out of the "albums" spot and just leave it on "Camera roll"... I now have camera roll, and videos as separate spots, but that doesn't help for screenshots or downloads so much. Don't use those that often I guess anyways.
The old HTC Music app would just simply be a music player and not mix in download/online material and try to sell me stuff. Its showing albums twice in my list as some are online and some are downloaded. I often go up north out of cell range for all weekend and play music in the truck and cabin the whole time. Streaming isn't an option so i'm in the minority that still buys lots of cd's (digitally) and downloads them and keeps an sd/computer/ full. Open the old music app hit one play button and it was back on the shuffle all, or a quick scroll down through all artists and whatnot to pick an album.
I know its the first day and I will get used to it. Man, I'm b*tching alot. haha.
Where did you find the camera and gallery files... and can you find the music app too?? I'm sure there are good 3rd party apps too, I just haven't had time to play with the new device yet besides setup.
Thanks!

Hey man, it's been about 6 months since I had my MXP (have a Nexus 6P now).. But, I believe there are some here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/htc-blinkfeed-plugins-devices-08-03-2015-t3049438
If you can't find what you want there, you can search that sub-fourm and I know there is another one or two threads of HTC apps floating around in that section.
Good luck!

Converted from iPhone to Android

Hi all,
I need help. I was an iPhone user and always organise my music in Playlists in itunes and my photos in Albums so that anything can be easily reached. When i bought nexus 6p my 1st android phone i couldn't manage to copy iTunes playlists as it is and photo albums all what i could do is to transfer all music and photos without any organising. I saw in the internet a way to do so using (Free Solution) Google music manager but this app is not available in my country and i found (Paid Solutions) i couldn't use them because they are paid . So is there anyway to do what i hope to do Freely and easily
Thanks in advance

It's easy to organise your photos into albums, all you need to do is get a file manager app from the Play Store and create folders for each album in your internal storage, then simply move the photos into their appropriate folders. The Google Photos app isn't a very good local photo viewer so you'll probably want to download a better gallery app like Piktures (this app will show your albums properly).

I've never used iTunes so I wouldn't have a clue about whether there's an easy way to import those playlists to Android.

If you sign up for a Google Account, won't it synch your photos from your IPhone to Google Photos?

I did that and it moved all my photos to my phone but without any organising all photos in one place without being in albums
now my real problem is iTunes playlists, i have a lot of songs it is impossible to make it manually and google music manager is not available in my country
AirSync might do what you are trying to do: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.doubleTwist.androidPlayerProKey
