Unless I'm blind, why haven't there been any one click odins, rooted or stock, for th - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

I guess I was spoiled with previous phones. Is it because the member(s) aren't active in this sub section that used to make those?

I'm talking about the rooted and stock tar md5 exe with Odin built into the exe. One big file with Odin and the ROM packaged together. It was just about as easy as it gets for flashing roms.

http://www.sxtpdevelopers.com/showthread.php?t=231 They still exist. Just not updated to the latest ota yet. I know garwynn got all kinds of other projects going on with this phone so I'm assuming he just hasn't gotten around to updating it yet.

Never understood the need for those .exe files. is it really that hard to open odin and select the .tar file you want to flash?

I see you've been a member since '07? You mean to tell me in all that time you haven't seen at least one dumbass who couldn't handle that much and screwed their phone up? I know I've seen my fair share. You make something idiot proof and someone will ALWAYS be a bigger idiot.

thanks this is a pretty useful file
So i place this file in swu upater like i did to root it? This will return it to stock even if i flashed recovery?

yep just like you did root. and it will take you Barebone Stock 2.1 just like the phones came out of the box.
I'm wondering if anyone has one like this but for 2.2

not in TAR format, but there is a zip file laying around http://forum.sdx-developers.com/index.php?topic=11181.0
Be careful. After you flashed the recovery you might brick it by doing this. I know I did.
I put this .tar.md5 file in the \Binary for SWupdater and I get a SamsungPST Cannot find bin error.
What is the difference between a .tar and .md5 file? How do I get the .tar file out of this MD5? It appears I can open it in 7zip, but it wants to extracted all the contents instead of just the .tar file.
Figured it out, I renamed the .tar.md5 to .md5 and it worked, searched the entire site (not just Samsung Intercept) and found someone else had same issue...

downgrade epic to 2.1

I recently instaled 2.2 on my epic and I heard what sprint said today about it and its not the official froyo build. I used odin. Is there any way to get the epic back to 2.1? I want to be able to receive the update via ota
Search is your friend...

But what about those of us who are on Macs and do not have access to a windows machine to use ODIN? Is there a way to flash back to DI18 or do I pretty much have to start begging random people to use their computers?

Why not just search for the stock di18 zip and flash it? No need for Odin. Exactly what I did.

So I would just need to put the update (I actually have it) on my sd card as update.zip and install it as an update just like I did with dk28? I apologize for being very fail at knowledge.
Easy method i use and worked and removed root/clockwork... with out odin..
For you those going back to stock or are stock and u flashed 2.2 and want to downgrade or resort back to stock use this method.
Rooted/clockwork users skip the first step...
1. Do the one click root/clockwork/etc Here
2. Flash the d118 modem Here
3. Then Flash the zip file Here
4. Then flash the get rid of clockwork zip Here
5. Your are back to stock without using odin yay!!!
Now all links work!!! and added a step use this method to return to stock with out odin.

The get rid of clockwork doesnt work... might have to ask dcrocks to reupload or if someone has it that would be great.

Sorry to double post, just wasnt sure which threads you were checking, but in step 2 when it comes to flashing the modem updater file it wont work, i can install the kernal and rom fine, but the modem gets an "installation aborted" in clockwork.

This will not, however, update your modem back to DI18, anyone have any ideas?
When I went from dk28 bac to di18 I used odin, make sure you have samsung mobile phone drivers, when I downloaded the dk18 tar file the first three times odin said bad mp5 file..I closed odin opened it again, downloaded the exact same tar file and it worked the fourth time. Make sure the f.reset button is deselected and you don't need a pit file....hope this helps

[Q] odin to froyo 2.2!??????

This may sound like a very dumb question but i am just now getting into the different things i can do with my phone. One of which is i have rooted it and installed clock work manager. I have seen A LOT of people talking about odin and using it to install froyo 2.2 on their phone. I was just wondering how you actually go about getting odin on your phone, or is it something installed on your computer to transfer files to your phone? my main objective of all of this is just to have froyo 2.2 finally installed on my phoneso if anyone could please give me the run down on this and the info i need to install 2.2 on my phone, or a web page that shows you how to install it once i have odin, it would be greatly appreciated!!!
Odin is a program used to flash .tar files (modem, kernel, system) onto your phone while in download mode.
A little poking around here (I would link you but I'm at work) and you will find the Samsung Drivers, The Odin program itself, and recently someone posted Odin files for 2.2
If you have the .zip of 2.2 (or Superclean 2.4) all you will have to do is flash the eb01 modem in Odin, then install the .zip file through CWM.
Follow ALL instructions in the threads you find to the T or it will be a pain in the ass to get your phone back.
Remember: When using Odin NEVER USE THE PHONE BUTTON. We use the PDA button for the Fascinate.
PDA = Good
Phone = brick (that's bad)

If u get the eb01 sc Odin package...it comes with rom obviously so u don't flash anything in cwm. However... future roms you want will b flashed in cwm. All u do is boot into recovery, instal zip from sd cars, choose the zip from sd card....select it...and hit ok

Ok, easy way to get froyo... go in the fascinate develpment section of xda or droid forums and look for ODIN eb01 package. It will load you up froyo, new clockwork, and root your phone all in one shot. The directions are super easy, just follow them exactly. I did mine this way, you dont have to mess with clockwork at all, ten minutes total. Let us know how you make out.

I installed a custom recovery but never flashed any custom rom's. I followed a guide on how to get it back to stock and this is how i got into this sticky situation. I used odin to upload a pit file and then a md5 file. and since that my phone is stuck at screen of a warning sign saying that there is a non stock os installed and to take it to att.

Stock Odin Flash Issue

Hey guys I am having an issue currently.
I am like 100% knowlegdable with Odin, and how to return a phone back to complete stock, but right now I am at a slump, and for the life of me can't figure out what the issue is.
Last night I went to flash via odin, and I made sure I have the correct files. In fact they were correct because I used them before. I for the pit file and put that in, and then I went to put the tar file into the ap slot, and it didnt show in the folder at all. I went back to the folder and it was there, but the phone for some reason odin doesnt reconize it anymore.
** Another question is I also have another laptop that I use ubuntu on. Can Odin be used on this to do a flash stock or not? Or is there another method? I just want to make sure that when it comes time to sell the phone that I can flash it back for the next person.
I just flashed last night with Odin and one thing I noticed was that the files usually have an extra .md5 or .zip at the end . Once I renamed file and just deleted the .zip and .md5 Odin then recognized the file. I am not sure if that could be the problem , but it was in my case. So my file ended in .tar
