Gameloft on Nook hd/+ - Nook HD, HD+ General

Anyone tried Gamelofts big games ex nova 3 mc4 amazing spider man and games like real racing 3 nfs most wanted gta 3 vice city, do these games have smooth with the full graphics like on ios devices, since it does have powervr sgx 544? Would it be wise to buy this tablet solely for gaming? I know there is N7 but i heard/seen lots of gamelofts top games perform poorly on it due to optimization.

Most Gameloft games I have (have a number of them and I haven't tried installing them all, so going with 'most') give me the 'Device not compatible' error - both stock and cm. Also, Gameloft really pisses me off because they remove back-catalog games to force you to purchase the newer versions (like Asphalt 5, original Modern Combat & Dungeon Hunter, etc in case you have those).
GTA games run great. Haven't ever tried IOS, but they run full quality and 60fps smooth w/ the nook. Same w/ EA games, all work fine.

I have tried Nova 3, MW3, both GTAs, NFSMW and NBA 2013 and all play fairly smooth.
Asphalt 7 though plays, but not smooth. Seems a lazy port since NFSMW and the other "busy" games play smooth.

All I notice is the game is not smooth like my other device or the iPad 4. All graphics seem in tact, but uninstalled. If it was missing stuff, it would have been even less smooth with it.

Just so you know I tried order and chaos hoping it would look great, bit they have gimped the effects and draw distance and it looks rubbish...

Anybody try and playing with the build.prop so Gameloft's games install, and installing Chainfire3D to make them work?
Used to do this on my old Allwinner A10 tablet, and it worked for some games, but its been awhile.

Games running slow

hi there, i have a rooted Samsung Galaxy 3 as most of you too.
here's the thing, i've rooted my phone, installed 3d chainfire and updated all of my drivers (of chainfire that is) installed setcpu and set it on perfromance base on 1300MHz. after that i thought to myself well a everything is done i can start downloading games now, i first downloaded PES 2011 and felt really excited when it booted and expected some good gaming and fun when traveling but when i started the game it was just horrid...the game is running approximately at 20% of it's usual game speed which kills it off entirely it feels like i'm playing the game with VSync enabled all the time.
So i was hoping if i could get some feedback from you guys to inform me what i did/am doing wrong or to give your impressions on the way things are shaping up for you.
thx in advance.
Hi
Did you tried different configurations specific to the game?
Did you installed plugins?
well, different games needs different configurations and each of them works good with a specific plugin.
Here is some examples:
For Nfs Shift you only need to select "Reduce texture quality and Qualcomm plugin.
For Modern Combat: Sandstorm you have to select both "Reduce texture quality" and "Reduce texture size" and choose Qualcomm plugin.
So the best way to play a lag free game is to try different settings.
Good Luck
trust me i've installed the plugins and have all 3 updated to the newest version i have tested all possible configurations and plugins even reducing texture and size settings still i can't get the game to run at more then 20-30% of it's potential...it's kinda sad as i saw that many of you are playing games smoothly on the SG3
Try using on of g3mod OC bus kernels.

em, could you please provide a link (with possible explanations) as i'm kinda new to this stuff, i got my SG3 a few months back and never had an android before.
this topic Must be very useful to you:
[How to]Play "HD" games on SG3 (NOVA, Shift, Asphalt5, AC, PES11 and more!)
PES 2011 working slow on every G3. You can't do anything with that but games like Nova, Nfs Shift and many others working great. You can try Psx emulator also, Fpse is the best I think and then you can play with psx games like Tekken 3, Gran Turismo, Civilization or Mortal Kombat.

So, overclocked processor even to 1300 Mhz doesn't provide performance in 3D games. (Neocore benchmark @ 667 Mhz - 13 FPS, Neocore benchmark @ 1200 Mhz - 14 FPS). Practically zero growth in performance of 3D.
Fpse emulator? The same situation. gran Turismo (time trial, only Your car on the track - 30-42 FPS - playable) Gran turismo (race, 6 cars - slow, not playable)
I5800 is not for games and emulation.
well, G3 is not good for 3D games, that's just how it is. There are awesome 2d games for android though. Refraction, rope cut, mx mayhem-a bit slow but fun and playable, angry birds all run fine. believe me if you had high end 3d games on g3 they would become boring in a week. better to just stick to your pc or console for real games

N64 fps, gaming performance?

I am thinking about buying a 7 inch tab, so i have to decide which one. For me is gaming really important(ill buy a tab to play games everywhere) so i have a few questions:
How many fps do you get when you play a n64 game with mupen64?with texture pack?
Do the new games like horn, dark meadow, dark knight and gangstar rio play lagfree?
How fast is chrooted ubuntu?
Sry for posting a question for a device i dont own, but
Thanks, transformador

Nook hd plus 32gb a gaming tablet?

I like nook hd + specs and i can get a 32gb for around 180 dollars i heard nook now has google play store if so, has anyone tried games like gta 3 vice city nova 3 real racing 3 etc high end games dead trigger on nook hd+ can this tablet be a gaming one?
Real Racing 3 is running better than on my iPad2
If you update with CM 10.1 and the new gpu drivers Verygreen posted, bigger YES. Especially if you like emulators. For the price, nothing touches it.
Games play fine and emulators like MAME play faster than on a Tegra 3 tablet (I have two to compare with).
This has become my main Android tablet over the Excite 7.7 and TF300.

where?. I have the Nabi 2 and the HD plus side by side. I see the debris on the Nabi 2 but I don't see the debris, on the HD Plus.
My guess is the HD will play games better than the HD+ since less than half the pixels to push. I have two Tegra 3 tablets (both 720P) to compare with and testing the TF700 that is 1080p.
NOVA, MC3 and 4 all appear to play similar on all tablets, but when things get real busy, the lower res tablets are smoother. Asphalt 7 is a good example of a game that chokes with the HD+ and the TF700. It is obvious both tablets are struggling with the 1080p. The game is not smooth on either the HD+ or TF700, but smooth as butter on the Excite 7.7 and TF300. The iPad 4 is even higher res than the HD+ and TF700, but plays A7 smooth as butter (it should, with the big accelerated GPU in it and A6X cpu cores). Not fair though, since Gameloft creates on iOS and ports to Android.
Game emulators though are a different story, since all play as good or better on the HD+ compared to the Tegra 3 720p tablets. Makes sense since the emulators are scaling to fill the screen and not really pushing 1080p via the GPU. Case in point, MAMEreloaded is actually smoother on the HD+ than my Tegra tablets.
One thing to keep in mind is that the HD+ appears to not like having less than 1 to 2GB of free storage and appears to get more laggy. I noticed this on stock 2.1 as well and with two different HD+ tablets.
All things considered with CM 10.1 and easy modding, the HD+ is a great tablet for the money- even if a few games play slower. The positives IMO far outweigh the few negatives- even as a gaming tablet.
Added: BTW, all gamepads I have tested work fine via bluetooth and response time is fine, even with arcade games in MAMEreloaded and NES.
I play mine craft at highest settings with no slow downs.

[Q] I have a problem with my LG G2

I've been using LG G2 D802 international for a month and it is very fast device, no complains except one day I installed flappy birds and It didnt run well, it skipped many frames, but subway surf runs very smooth and also device in normal use is fast as hell .So I did a little test here is my experience: Those games lagged: Flappy bird, jetpack joyride, fruit ninja. Games who ran very good: Need For Speed most wanted, Modern combat 4, subway surf, GTA vice city. How is possible those heavy games runs smoothly but those small games like fruit ninja and flappy bird, lags , I think those games do not support snapdragon 800, I want to ask you about your experience , thank you.
I noticed same problem... I just installed flappy bird and its lagging.
But, I need to say that my whole phone is laggy a little...
When im in viber message and press back it needs 2 sec to return into viber inbox... That is realy slow for top smartphone...

i dnt knw abt flappy bird but fruit ninja does lag only in the staring point not always...i hav the same problem in my note 2 and a chinese tablet...
I think that problem is because flappy is in 2D and G2 wont run his power on that game...

Upon a few more min of research quite a few people are saying that a few games such as flappy birds aint quite compatible with the snpdrgn proccesser. Other games are compltey. Commpat and run great dont hold me to it but that might be worth more of a look in that direction
After some research i found that the lag is due to lg hotplug idk why but after installing dorimanx kernel and changing hotplug removes lag. Something wrong with lg hotplug

Emulators running on Nexus 9

Many already know that this device will be very good to run different emulators with.
Everything from Dolphin to Drastic DS, Reicast, Mupen64 and many more. I'll focus a lot on Dolphin as thats the emulator that will get the best boost compared to the Tegra K1 32-bit.

Look forward to seeing them, since I won't be getting my own N9 at release. I don't really care about seeing anything but PPSSPP and Dolphin though, since the others are already fine on older hardware.
I hope that PPSSPP and Dolphin will work good
I think PPSSPP will run almost all games at full speed. But running dolphin at full speed will be much, much harder to achieve. Hopefully we will see at least 50% gain in fps compared to the shield tablet.
Not really interested in emus since I have a Wii U for that but I expect the N9 to run anything you throw at it

I have PPSSPP running Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together and Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions running fine on a FireTV and Galaxy Tab 2 tablet fine. I'm also playing around with a few Japanese visual novel imports. PPSSPP should not have any issues on the N9.
You need to remember that this tablet is rocking a QXGA (2048x1536) screen so it will be more heavy to play on it

That won't tax it harder on Dolphin per se, since it won't be rendering at that, i wouldn't expect it to run well except on 1xIR (the Dolphin native resolution).
The Nexus 9 certainly won't be able to manage "anything you can throw at it" though, since even the most high spec PC can't do that right now and maintain full speed on certain games in Dolphin. My i7 4790K with water cooking and overclock and GTX 980 SC ACX 2.0 can't, and that's much more powerful than the K1.

That's the question we're all waiting to have answered!
So far the Nvidia Shield Tablet, by far, runs it the best and the expectation is that the K1 Denver should be a good step up from there as it nearly doubles CPU performance, which the emulator is more dependant on. I would expect many games to still run slow, but a good deal more titles should be playable (more easily emualted games like Timesplitters 2, which runs at about 40-45fps on my Shield tablet and might be fully playable on the Nexus 9).

OOOOoooooohhhhh sorry, my bad, I'm used to people on here knowing everything hahaha sorry
Dolphin only uses 2 cores, that means that dolphin is not taking advantage of the full power the shield tablet has. Nexus 9 is running a dual core k1, and the single core performance is up to 100% faster than the quad core k1. This should give us a big speed improvment in dolphin

You're right mate. Most of the games I play are older Pokemon games, from when I was a child or hacks based on those games.
Not sure if I find the huge screen preferable for GBC and GBA emulating, but I'm really looking forward to pushing that soc to the max
