this happened to me. Unfortunately i gave up and ended up reflashing the rom i was using.
I originally tried to just flash twrp via odin and the same problem would happen. I ended up just wiping and installing everything from scratch. Weird thing was that it happened again. I did a final wipe and after i would flash one thing i would make a backup. Now i don't have the issue. Originally it said i had 7tb of /data.

And you selected the sdcard as the backup location? It defaults to internal. I know it is reading the data size wrong from what you posted but thought I would check to make sure.

That is correct. But how do I fix the data so I can backup my roms

Anyone else have problems with TWRP 2.6.0.0 locking at the splash screen? Its really annoying. I went back to TWRP 2.5.0.2 for the time being until this can get worked out.

how did you upgrade to 2.60 ??
try directly from goo manager
or if you are upgrading from twrp zip file then make sure you wipe/dalvik first
i am on 2.6 upgraded from 2.5 works great no problem what so ever

I have been trying both methods. Though I never tried wiping dalvik. I figured recovery would be separate from all that stuff but it does seem to happen more when I do a reboot into recovery from cm10.1. I'll give it a shot. While I like the additions in 2.6.0.0 it does lack the polish of 2.5.0.2 so I may end of staying with that release long term until a maintenance release is made for 2.6.0.0.

[WARNING]Bug can cause data loss in CWM 2.5.1.3 while creating Nandroid backups

Hi,
Sorry if this has been pointed out, but I have just lost some (hopefully not much) of my work due to a very silly bug in CWM.
I messed up with my HTCCamera.apk and before start I created a backup - seemingly successfully.
A few hours later I needed to restore, after a successful restore I got stuck at the white HTC screen.
Cause: I have run out of space in SDCard. CWN created the backup and did not notice me it could not complete due to low space - it said backup completed successfully, however, about half of my NAND could have been backed up before it run out of space. Same case for restore, backup files even passed MD5 hash check.
Always check if you have enough SDCard free space before creating a backup.
Very good point. And actually my first nand backup took 720 megs of space, so people should really have at least a gig of free space before starting the backup process.

Yeah I've experienced this before, I had like 500MB of space and I knew that my backups were around 1GB, so I knew something was fishy when it completed.
Can anyone on Gingerbread builds confirm that it happens on CWM3 as well?

More than likely, but as I never create a backup with a nearly full sd card it's not an issue.
Whilst i appreciate it would be nice is cwm informed us that we had insufficient space for a backup or that the backup had failed, should this thread not be titled warning making a backup with insufficient space wont work!

I almost lost everything due to this bug, because I messed up my framework but I believed I had successfully created a nandroid backup, which turned out to be incomplete due to this issue.
Of course I had another nandroid backup on my PC from the day before... That was my luck.
update CWM to 3.0.0.6 and you wont have issues anymore. its compatible with both. I had the same issue last night.

I heard there is a known bug in 3.0.0.5 that sometimes it can't restore backups, and so far nobody was able to confirm that it's fixed in the latest version...
i said 6, not 5 dude Im using 6 right now with both 2.2 and 2.3 with no problems

So, just to be sure, v3.0.0.6 is able to fully backup & restore both 2.2 Sense ROMS and 2.3 CM7 ROMs?
In that case, there's no more need for v2.5.1.3?

Btw, it's not fixed in 3.0.0.6, only change is that it outputs the available sdcard storage space before starting the backup process.

[Q] update to TWRP

Hi,
i have magldr, ext4 recovery and Nexus HD2 Jellybean in NAND with data on SD ext4.
this has been rock solid for about 6 months so i have not 'played' with my hd2 for a while.
first, i remember installing and trying TWRP a long time back and one problem was that it didnt backup the ext4 partition.
has this been solved?
second, can i install TWRP without wiping my nand install?
thanks in advance

TWRP works perfectly for me. ext4-partitions are included in backups. You can partition sd-card and format them with ext4 and so on....
You can install twrp without wiping your nand-install if your recovery partition is big enough for twrp ( it think at least 6-9 mb or so...
you can read further information in twrp-thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2120297 )
Just flash twrp-zip by using 4ext-recovery.

i had a link to an old thread but didnt notice the new "extended TWRP"
i have 10mb (had to resize last time i tried it) so will give another try later
just as a follow up, yes, new TWRP is working great. very slick and professional.
i thought it died the first time i tried it. the screen went black for a while and phone wouldnt wake up.
then i bothered to look at the options and turned off 'enable screen timeout'
rtfm i suppose

i had some compatibility problems with TWRP, as some roms did't install properly: they went into bootloop or just simply ditn't install themselves... they were old roms, maybe it's because of this...
i had ro revert back to CWM
is everything working fine with TWRP now?

cwm recover not recognizing restore files

I recently rooted my phone and tried a few different roms. I'm currently on cyanogen mod 10.2. I used cwm to backup my original ROM. I copied the backup file to my computer and uploaded it to my dropbox. I formatted my SD card since it had a lot of junk on it. I copies them back and now they aren't being recognized. This is my original stock ROM and since this is my first time rooting I really want to keep a stock ROM on hand for easy access incase I mess something up and need my phone to work properly. Thanks for any help. Its also a Samsung s4 i337m from fido.
can you see the backup and it's just not letting you restore it or can you not see the backup at all?
i'll tell you to keep researching and troubleshooting but if all else fails, odin back to stock, reroot, install cwm and make a new stock backup again.
Its not appearing in cwm at all unless i have a restore that was on it post format and not copied off the computer. Like if I make a backup of my current ROM the stock one will appear and just hang in checking md5. If there are no backups other than the original stock one it isn't being recognized. Also it worked before I formatteebthe SD card.
when you formatted the card and then replaced the cwm backup, where did you place the backup?
for example: 0/clockworkmod/backup, /clockworkmod/backup, etc.
if you make a backup now, where does it save the new one?
i'm just running through the bases here.
Sorry I don't know the exact locatiotion but I just dragged and dropped the "Clockworkmod" That cwm created when I made my first restore to my PC. Formatted the SD card and just dragged and dropped it back to the SD card. The new restore saves in the same folder also.
i'm assuming they're both in something like sdcard1, extSdCard or external_sd /clockworkmod/backup.
if so, and you didnt change cwm versions (i.e. from 6.0.3.6 to 6.0.4.4), then something may have been corrupted when moving the backup folder back and forth.
Yes that seems about right. I didn't change anything on cwm, unless my ROMs did. If it is corrupted will it just hang indefinitely or is there a chance it can work? And is there any other way to do a restore?
i'm no recovery expert but if your backup is corrupt than i dont imagine there's a fix for it.
i accidentally deleted my stock backup a couple phones ago. in order to have a fully stock backup on the sd card again (in the event i needed/wanted to restore to the original factory setup), i had to odin back to the stock firmware and start over.
Do you know any good guides on how to do that?

Try to re-downloading from drop box. Could have gotten corrupted during the download process.
Download it straight from dropbox to the SD card through the phone?

Nope, no luck. It just hangs at checking MD5 Sums. I tried the backup i made for foxhound 2.0 and it did the same thing.
edit: It worked it was just hanging for a good 15 minutes though.

Can you have cwm not check for the md5? It's been awhile since I've used cwm. I use twrp.
Edit, doesn't look like you can. I just flashed cwm to see. Was the foxhound nandroid one you just made and it still doesn't restore?

yeah, thats what i was gonna ask: if you've made one just now and tried restoring it.
Ok thanks for the help but the problem resolved itself after letting ti hang until it did something. It worked after about 15 minutes.
edit: I just rooted the phone a few days ago and I'm all new to this, so i figured after it not doing anything for 5 mins with the dead android on the screen was bad. Thanks for the help.

Good, yea a restore and reboot can take longer than you think. And waiting seems like forever when you're expecting it to boot. You'll get used to it.

[Q] Nandroid restore help

Hello,
Need some help with a Nandroid restore. When I did the backup everything went fine, and now when I am trying to restore it, when it gets to /data it is taking forever.
I am using philz touch CWM recovery. Samsung Galaxy S5.
I started it yesterday and it is still going, it says 800/5575 mb, so it has a lot more to go... is this normal? is it really going to take a week to do a restore?
Darth said:
Hi,
Since you're stuck now anyway, I'd restart the phone in recovery, wipe system, data and cache and try restoring again. But it may just be corrupt. If you have another nandroid, try to restore it.
Other options are use another device with a micro SD card and put a rom, and gapps if needed on it and install the rom on your device.
Last option is to Odin flash stock firmware again.
If you want other ideas or need further help, please ask in this dedicated help thread for your device,

Any ideas? should I stop it where it is at and flash a new rom? I wanted to after there was a stock 5.0 version out, but I could do it early.
I did take the backup and put in on my computer, and then put it on my phone again. Would that affect it? the SD card wont mount on my phone, so I only have the internal to work with.

Ok, so I decided to stop the restore and I am trying to now load a stock rom. I am running into a problem though, how do I transfer a file to my device? I have nothing to boot into, and the SD card does not work. Can I flash it with odin?

I think I have "fixed" it. Finaly was able to sideload a rom. I am waiting for the stock rooted one to download still, but if it does and I can load in all my titanium backup stuff, all should be good. :fingers-crossed:

HELP!! I am stuck inside of TWRP and cannot boot into the system

Hey everyone, I have a really frustrating problem, I am currently able to boot into TWRP via hardware method and ADB can see my device as well. However I have tried to install a stock system image through TWRP and I have also tried to install another TWRP backup that a user had posted in the Q&A forum. At one time I was able to successfully boot into the system but my device said encryption unsuccessful. After wiping the system partition and trying to install these images through TWRP I am still unable to boot into the system. Whenever I install them my phone will reboot into TWRP. I am at a loss as to what to do. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions I would appreciate it.

I saw your other post in the other thread, but couldn't reply for some reason.. did you wipe the internal storage before restore?
Yes I did wipe the internal storage, I actually wiped everything the first time I tried to get everything in order and that was my original problem by wiping the system. I didn't realize that wiping internal storage would cause issues but that could have been one of the culprits. I think what finally solved my issue is I installed a deodexed rom and then powered down my device instead of rebooting and it booted up the rom. I had to flash SuperSU from a zip because for some reason the one that was preinstalled with that rom didn't install properly. So I installed the SuperSU zip and I am now officially rooted. Lesson learned DON'T WIPE SYSTEM OR INTERNAL STORAGE lol. I should have known better I have been rooting for awhile now, I just wasn't paying attention it happens to the best of us sometimes. Thanks for your help.

I used the deodexed ROM that is in the development forum. If I can upload it here I will if not just download it put it on your SD card and flash it. It may take a couple tries though I would suggest powering down your phone instead of rebooting it. Then turn it on and it should boot into the new rom. It's basically the same stock rom that our phone comes with. You may have to flash Chainfires SUPERSU zip that's in one of the threads. These steps should get you up and running again. Also if you can see your internal storage you're not encrypted. Hopefully that works for you. Let me know how it goes.
I wasnt able to upload the file from my phone. Just download it from here.

Flashing the rom helped me out. It's a system image file. It's basically the stock rom for our device just deodexed. What exactly happened what did you wipe after your phone booted into
TWRP? If you still have TWRP you're not bricked. If you can flash that image from the thread I copied above then you should be good. You may have to flash SUPERSU to get root back. Also after you flash make sure you're not encrypted if you can see your internal storage partition then you're not encrypted.

When you flashed the rom did you power the phone down and then try to boot into the rom? That's what I did and it worked for me. So don't select reboot into system, I'm not sure why it doesn't work that way. I had to power my device down and then boot into the room. Also if you can see your internal partition in TWRP then you should be good and encryption is not enabled. I know how frustrating this is. Just keep trying eventually that rom should stick.

There a stock rom that I posted a link to a few posts back when I trying to help someone else. Download it put it on your SD card and install it. You don't need to wipe anything it will format things for you. After it installs don't reboot, power down the device and then turn it back on it should boot into the rom. That's what worked for me. I believe there was another way then what I just described it's in the same thread that I linked a few posts back. Good luck!!

Same. Though I am on US996. Not sure what I did, was exploring some behind the scenes stuff using 'hidden codes' but didn't change any values as I didn't know what they meant in most cases. I rebooted my phone and it went straight to TWRP (3.0.2-1) and it will not boot past TWRP. Occasionally after I've flashed something, it will boot into TWRP and the screen will be unresponsive to touch so I have to pull the battery, but then it will be fine again.
I was in your position not to long ago, I'm currently working on getting a .kdz recovery file for the H918. My progress will continue on it later when finals are over.
