Anyone using AppFlood? - Mobile Ad Networks

Hi all,
Wonder if anyone is using AppFlood right now?
From what I see, it seems like an interesting network: decent SDK, good support, zero commission, etc. But I wonder if the payment is good since they only pay per install.
Any help is very appreciated. Thanks! :cyclops:

I like it, but never had time to implement.

Appflood issues
I recommend you to not to use it. It has enormous transparency, even shows the ad providers and their fill rates. But still the ecpm is really law. So there are situations where you will get nothing for clicks and even installs.
So i advice you to go for another alternative.

Gas price App???

In the carputer world (mp3car.com) they have an app the searches for the cheapest gas prices using the internet. It would be really nice to have this app on my Tynt. Does anyone know of a wm verison os this software? If not, can someone create one? This tool would be super useful.
That is a stupid idea. It would have to be updated every 5 minutes. Have you got the time to be typing ingas prices for the whole world every 5 minutes?
The name of the app and a link to it would be appreciated
I guess creating a ppc client for the 'gas-price-database' is not a big problem. The question is, if the original authors would alllow such a port. I presume you must have a subcription to download the gasprice data?
A easier solution would be a webpage tough, since you need to go online anyway to get the latest data...
Here's a webpage that works.

There is also an Apple osx widget which provides this information... see here for the link. According to the website, they are pulling their data from "Gas Price Watch" a company which may allow for a PPC app to poll/pull the same data.
The data is out there (at least in the US) and accessible for free to Mac Users .. so no reason it should not be accessible for PPC users too.
So is it doable? With gas prices in the rise again, it would be nice to know where the cheapest gas is. Anyone down to code this one out?

i dont think you get the idea here. its more like the prices coming to you. its pretty much the same process as the weather plugin the SPB offers.
is anyone going to tackle this very useful idea?
someone did .. for the mobile phone crowd .. see this site
Admittedly, it's not an "app," but... Why not just open your phone's browser, go to GasBuddyToGo.com and enter your zip? Yeah, an app would be cool. But, at least GasBuddyToGo.com gives you a way to do it, until someone comes up with the app...
See ya!
lmao i dont pay for petrol but i guess someone would find this usefull.
this would be better as a constantly updated POI in tomtom or some sort of GPS thing, but cant see it happeneing in the near future

Revue from Smith Micro Software Incredible

Hi!
I have just seen this amazing program.
http://www.smithmicro.com/default.tpl?group=product_full&sku=QLMCWXX
To see photo, video and play music.
Bad news, we have to pay if we want to see it.
I am searching but...no free?
Do you like??
I want it!! free, of course.
$30? LOL
I'll wait until someone on this site codes a clone for free.
Nice stuff though.... but not nice enough to shell out $30.
well, you should brake into a car or someone's house and steal their phones. maybe someone has it on their device....
...so stupid.

It is pretty stupid that they don't offer a free trial download to try it out. I'm definitely not going to pay $30 for something that I don't even know what it's like. No thank you.

Maybe its because they don't want people to rip off their product without paying for it.
WB
i don't know about this "revue software" and the description of what it does is not very clear to me, but i have tested another tool that does the same thing (i suppose. i'm french so my english is not perfect) named trakax on a htc vox and it seemed fairly good for a slow device (200 cpu) and non-tactile.
it should be very cool on a decent pdaphone with good cpu.
go here : http://www.trakax.com/software/mobile/
it costs 30 again, but you have a free demo to test it.

I agree, it may be difficult, but when you see someone asking for a copy of a retail piece of software on here, insisting they have it for free, (as if that's a right), then find a near identical request on a warez site asking for the crack for the same software, its not difficult to see where that activity would lead to if we all took that stance.
WB
I don't have a problem paying for the apps that we use on our devices and i'm willing to pay a whole helluva' lot more but we should @ least have the trial option to see if it's worth it or even if its compatible with our devices. Most developers give you that trial because they stand by their product and they know it'll sell itself once the word gets out, so maybe them not giving a trial offer says something about their product. Just my opinion.
I've done trials of and loved:
Resco Exlorer
Memmaid
AEButton
Ultimate Launcher
Vito Screen Capture
Phone Weaver
...And paid for:
Resco
Memaid
AEButton
UL
Vito
Phone Weaver
It wouldn't even occur to me to use a cracked copy. Weird since I've used warez for some windows PC software, but being on a forum like this you see how the programmers are good people, just like me (only smarter) and it puts a face to the theft and I wouldn't consider doing it. Now I don't do cracked stuff for PC software either. I guess its part of growing up.
Anyway, I think there are a lot of ppl like me that if they like a trial they will be HAPPY to buy it.
I have just found this video!
Hi
I found a video of Revue.
It seems to be fantastic even with an application to manage the files with the PC!
http://my.smithmicro.com/wireless/revue/Revue324_121807_OffLn.wmv
I want to test this program for my HTC Touch, but I can´t download it from anywhere.
Anyone has this program?
Can you tell me if it is fast and useful?
Anyone knows where can I download Revue?
Thank YOU ALL
I just took a quick glance at the site you listed and looks like something I used to use on my Palm, I think you can use this for free, don't completely remember, but know I never paid for it. I remember now, you have to keep your pc online and you can access it for free, think that was the deal, and you had to pay to store your files online to access them while your pc was offline.
Anyway to the point its Avvenu, check it out.
Log Me In may be the same.
Caragato!!
Please NOT SPAM HERE!!!
So is this basically streaming media from your computer but with lots of organization options?
How is it not like Orb?
It is a finger friendly software just like iphone to see media on our pocketpc.

Is there a free alternative to memmaid?

I've been having problems with my phone 'dying', and from another thread kindly pointed out by WB it seems as though it could be a notification queue error (although it may also be a 2G/3G issue).
It appears that memmaid can help fix this notification queue problem. However, I've just been on their website and I'm not willing to pay the $24.99. Mainly because I think it absolutely sucks to have to pay for something to correct an issue that shouldn't be there in the first place. Partly also becasue I've come from an iphone that just works without all of these glitches (and may I add that there are 1000's of free apps, AND fixes if you jailbreak it and if you can get free solutions on one phone OS, why not them all, bloody microsoft ), and partly becasue I'm a northerner and don't like to part with cash lol.
Therefore, I'm wondering if there's a free alternative, or at least a cheaper alternative that will help correct the notification queue problem?

Yeah just noticed that.. sucks that we have to pay for software that HTC should provide for messing up the device in the first place. The constant dropping of my 3G connection and the "dying" that requires a hardboot are driving me insane. This is definitely my last HTC device if WM 7 doesn't improve things.

Android hacker Koush makes mobile internet tethering undetectable by carriers

When the idea that your smartphone’s data connection would be able to be shared by your laptop with no additional charge, everyone seemed to be on board – over the past year, carriers have started up extra costs for this and have struck down all attempts by apps to sidestep the process – until now. What one of the most well-known hacker/developers in the world Koushik Dutta, aka Koush, has done is to create a non-market app that allows you to use your smartphone as an internet hotspot, doing so without adding costs to you beyond what that data would cost to you on your smartphone on its own. And it’s completely (nearly) undetectable by carriers.

Completely?...............Nearly?...............Can't be both!
(I know you quoted the article there, so not pointing out anything you have said)
From Koush's post:
"[1] It functions as a proxy, and not as a NAT/masquerade solution that other tether solutions use. Though carriers can still check for http user agent string, but I have an idea to work around that. They typically check the TTL for desktop values. All usual carrier data charges and quotas will apply, but you will not need a separate tethering plan."
Also, it's USB and not wireless which most people want. Seems more of the same to me. There are a large number of apps on the market doing the same thing already. Not a huge leap forward, but more a very small step in my opinion.
^ You pretty much stole all my thunder that I was about to write.
Until I know "exactly" what causes carriers to raise tethering flags, I would proceed very cautiously with this...
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Are you guys stupid. This has been done but no one has released a free easy to use undetectable tethering. All you guys want to do is complain. Just once come in here and say good job! Or well done!. All you XDA users do is complain when people are trying to help others. I love how this place works. $hit on the hand that feeds you.

Oh, and I personally have thanked many, many people in XDA for their contributions, and sent beer money too. Thankfully, you have not been one of those people!
I was reading about this app yesterday.. Just the fact that its wired makes it undesirable to me.
The one most important thing about this app has been overlooked in this thread!! ROOT IS NOT REQUIRED!
So If you dont have root then check out this app! If you do have root, then WiFi Tether is obviously a better choice because it does not require a cable. Also I have been using WiFi Tether for over a year and never been "detected" by Att, so it must also be a "undetectable" app right?.

RevMob Alternative
There are a million different ad networks out there so comes down to a few factors:
1.) What type of users do you have (responsive, engaged, etc)
2.) Where are your users based (location)
3.) What type of units can you run (banner, fullscreen, video, incentive, app walls, etc.)
4.) What app stores are you in?
Airpush is the 2nd largest next to Google, and fullscreen rates are much higher than what you are seeing with RevMob. We have worldwide fill and industry leading CPMs and are available in Google Play or 3rd party stores. Happy to give you more info and see if we can help you, or point you in the right direction if we are not a fit.

Give NOTIFY a try!
NOTIFY drives more revenue for app developers. We have ad units for google play and even more aggressive ad units for alternative app-stores that developers request. See here: https://www.notifymob.com
Our eCPM numbers are outperforming other ad network.. Our support is fabulous and we strive improve daily.
FYI: Here's our start guide so you can see how easy it easy to integrate. Doesn't take much time at all. https://www.notifymob.com/quickstart.html

Tried AppBrain?
Disclaimer: I'm one of the developers of AppBrain.
There seem to be a lot of representatives present on this forum from AirPush and other companies but I don't see much mention of AppBrain. Our SDK is used by 40,000+ Android apps and has a number of flexible monetization options. If you've never tried it before it may be worth checking out!
The developer documentation is directly accessible at http://applift.io/
You're right-- there are seemingly millions of networks out there, and it's hard to differentiate who does what or gave give the best yield.
You can find an entire list of them here: Thalamus.co
It's used more on the UA front with data on average CPIs + Install rates by genre/platform/country, but should give you a good sense of their eCPMs to see which others you can add into your monetization strategy.
I recommend ADSOTA
Just like you, I don't prefer Admob. Now I am using Adsota.
- Its CPM is good
- 100% ads fill-rate (quiet sure about this because my friends use this too)
There are a lot of big name out there but I choose it simply because it pays well and it is smooth.
You can find Adsota by searching "ads.appota".
Best of luck, man.
Have you ever considered video ads? My company, Teads is bringing our award winning unit into the app space. We do have a few product offering depending on your app. A few things we are offering: great payouts, premium advertisers only (T-Mobile, AT&T, Playstation), ease of use.
As you may have read in other threads, we are currently in a live beta testing phase. During this phase, we are compensating developers for their time upon successful integration with our SDK. If you'd like to learn more about Teads, please don't hesitate to reach out to me directly at [email protected]
Thanks!
