Moderators, please take it easy on me as I am really confused on the whole matter.
I heard allot about cyanogen not coming to our phones due to Samsung not releasing the Exynos documentation for the I9500.
But yesterday, I read on g+:
"Finally, just a note that Exynos 3 and Exynos 5 devices are not impacted by the information above. The Nexus S allows for a solid Exynos 3 base, and the Nexus 10 for the Exynos 5 base. We have an i9500 in hand and will be working towards bringing the Exynos 5 Octo platform up to release quality as well."
Could one or some of you kind people please answer some questions for me?
1. How will cyanogen release any ROM if no documentation for exynos 5 is released?
2. Have they decided to support rom development since they now have a i9500? I'm just wondering because if they had the nexus 10, wouldn't it have been possible to have started rom development sometime ago? or is it crucial that they first have the device to support it. I don't quite understand how the nexus 10 and the i9500 could be of the same base. whilst they both use exynos, no documentation is released?
3. I hear many people would prefer to stay away from exynos devices in future, and rightfully so, because the lack of documentation. But if cyanogenmod does come to the i9500 would it be right to say that it may have the same fate as the exynos 4 devices in the near future?
4. Would cyanogen support have root triangle and mobile oddin coming to our devices? Yes, I do understand those are entirely different developers, but I'm just hoping something may come of it?
5. Now that cyanogen would make it to the i9500, is it worth getting this phone or should I wait for the i9505? I've heard sound quality, and battery life are quite good on i9500. I do not need LTE at this moment in time.

I am a newborn noob here. Would like to introduce myself.
I have recently bought the first Android device I have ever owned which is the i9500 Octa Core and I am loving it, I have found that Android is 100000000000x999 times better than any other mobile operating system and so I have a huge interest in it. Have been reading about it for a month now and I want to many things to my device but unfortunately can't because the i9500 does not get much love, especially here in South Africa, where Samsung can't even provide us with the latest firmware update.
I really want to root & flash my phone however I don't want to Void my warranty and I know that the Triangle Away app can remove the flash counter however it does not support i9500 Octa yet...
I am an experienced Graphic Designer, have been doing it for 5 years using Photoshop and sometimes CorelDraw, so if anyone would like me to help out with designs for their applications, I don't mind helping out.
I have a lot of knowledge about Computers and Cellphones however not enough about Linux based systems, that is why I am here, to learn, learn and learn.
Also I wanted to ask if I can put Google Stock Android OS 4.2 or 4.3 on my i9500 Octa instead of using Samsung's crappy TouchWiz? Is it possible?

Not possible. Not yet atleast. Doc Rambone is working on porting over the i9505 google edition 4.2.2 rom but we haven't heard from him in a while

If you wanted a lot of developer love (and namely AOSP love) you should have looked into buying/importing an i9505. Sad, but true. DocRambone has successfully ported the Google stock android OS to the i9500 but is fighting bugs. Though the CM team has announced that they've (or one of them at least) gotten an i9500 and will get CM on it.
It's basically like this:
AOSP love = Qualcomm equipped phones or Nexuses
Of course exynos phones can have AOSP love as well, however since there isn't much reference out for the exynos chip (not a single shred of documentation or useful source), getting AOSP to those devices will be hard. The Nexus 10 tablet has exynos 5, though, but it's a different chipset than the one in the Octa S4. Exynos 5250 is the N10 and 5410 in the S4 and both use very different GPU's.
Hello there. I recently acquired a Samung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1. I love the tablet but there has been no ROM development as of yet. In my understanding, this is due to the fact that the 8.4 version is much more popular and shares architecture (Snapdragon) with many other devices making it easier to develop for. In looking at the 10.1 specifications, it seemed like the Nexus 10 and Tab Pro 10.1 had many similarities (including Samsung manufacture and Exynos 5 chip). So, my question is whether or not a Nexus 10 ROM could be easily ported to the Tab Pro 10.1? I am not a developer, so forgive my ignorance and naivete if this is a ridiculous question.
If they are very alike it is a bit easier. But you might be better of building from source.

Have you seen this guide? Samsung has that um... unique TW UI so trying to port AOSP based Nexus 10 roms will almost certainly fail (unless there's already CM or AOSP for the Tab but based on what you said that doesn't seem to be the case). Also the Nexus 10 has the Exynos 5 Dual while the Tab uses the Octa. Check out the Exynos Wikipedia page and try a TW based ROM from something else with the Octa but it still seems like a bit of a long shot too me. Good luck.
Also, mrgnex is right that building from source is probably better. But if it's not already supported by CM or AOSP you're out of luck. Samsung has opensourced the code but it seems kind of silly to build a TW ROM from source since most of the custom TW ROMs are just baked from the stock ROM.

Hi,
What is the likeliness of the Note 4 having someone produce a CM / ASOP ROM for this device?
This isn't a request, but rather a question. Has any developer put their hand up for this yet?
Just trying to catch up on any CM / ASOP Note 4 related news i may have missed. I have done a search, but nothing of great value arises, and i am sure i am not the only one who is keen to find out....

I haven't seen any progress on it yet. Firstly a CM developer would need to get their hands on a Note 4.
I'm hanging out for Cm12 on the Note 4, so hopefully within the next month or 2 development starts.

Me too - with the release of Android 5.0 - comes the quickened release of CM12 - if the Note 4 wants to see Android 5.0 before June next year, its only chance is through CM or some alternate ASOP variant !!!
Samsung are VERY slow at releasing updated Variants for the android OS for their phones... but luckily not the slowest...
I'll keep this post here, so that we at least have some kind of discussion growing with respects to the Note 4, and hopefully someone might pick it up. I would love to do it myself, but i have very limited knowledge of android coding if i knew how i would totally do it...

Speaking from a purely outside perspective as I have a 9505, the largest problems with 9500 development I think are both the Exynos processor and its distribution. The 9500 as you likely know is only available in countries that don't have LTE networks available. There aren't as many carriers for the 9500 as there are for the 9505 so naturally the production run is smaller. Then there is the lack of documentation, perceived or otherwise, with the Exynos processor. That lack of documentation makes it difficult, but not impossible, to create custom ROMs.
TL;DR: the 9500 isn't nearly as popular as the 9505 and ROM development is hampered by the Exynos processor.
As the title says, why? For example N910C only gets close to stock kernels (talexop, h-vitamin, suemaxx) while the snapdragon variant gets super customized kernel (emotion)
@Hani K. the developer of Simplicity Kernel (which is the most customized kernel for n910c, but it is only for lollipop) said that he wants to bring Simplicity Kernel to MM

I am not a dev, but i have the snapdragon version, and from what I've read about both phones, I believe it comes down to 2 factors. First, this one is just an assumption, the snapdragon version was more widely sold.
Second, this is the main reason I've read about, that the 64bit exynos chip is harder, more complicated to build for. Cause snapdragon releases its source code and Samsung doesn't provide good info on their chips.

Yes you totally correct, its all about Samsung releasing the source code for their exynos 5433, if developers had access to this, it would be a lot easier to develop for this chipset.
Edit: Just by the way, Exynos 5433 is 32bit based, however the hardware does support 64, due to the missing source code and the array of new devices, it will never be enabled by Samsung or a third party
Well, I have already clarified why it is taking long, but let's start by answering your question:
I personally don't think Exynos Variant is getting more or less than Snapdragon, both were sent to different parts of the world and both are (or were) getting equal attention which was never the case with the older models. However, the device is more than 2 years old now, most of the developers have already upgraded their devices and started development on their new platforms. For me personally, I have been quite busy with life so far, and my close friends knew that since the day I released SimplRom v5, which is why I have created H-Vitamin kernel. Simplicity kernel requires a lot of time and intensive testing, and I'm a one man brigade in my team when it comes to Exynos department due to it's uniqueness, from developing ROMs and Kernels to Sound mods, theming and development tools that I had to create in order to make my work possible. My biggest constraint is/was time and I couldn't afford that luxury, so I went with what most of the people were looking for, "Simple, Fast and Battery friendly", which is H-Vitamin.
Nevertheless, I have posted an update in SimplRom thread a few hours before you make this thread. Since I've got some free time in my daily routine, I'm planning to update some of my projects and when the time is right, I will upgrade Simplicity to the latest version at that time.
I'm guessing it's due to the fact that the majority of firmware developers are US based and the US variant of the Note 4 tends to use the Snapdragon 805.
