Ubuntu touch nightly build installation. - Ubuntu Touch General

Using the Ubuntu touch nightly builds, should I only be flashing the armel-manta zip and phablet-armhf zip?
I see there are additional files for system, boot, and recovery img, and was wonder if I should be using any of those as well.
Also, I am using a Nexus 10, hence looking at manta builds.
Thank you.

For the nexus 10, you can use the phablet-flash tool (on Ubuntu) that makes this easy. If you're doing it manually, I think all you need are the 2 .zip files. The instructions for manually installing can be found here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Install#Manual_Installation

I don't own this device but it looks like you're flashing this like any other Android rom. If everything breaks you can still flash with Odin to stock and install CWM again.

If all else fails you can revert to stock Android and then move to a custom ROM from there.

Or more simply... boot into recovery and flash new ROM zip. No need to go back to stock

maybe its brick

Code:
adb reboot recovery
DOES work with an Ubuntu Touch device. :good:

Ubuntu Touch Daily Builds
Boot into recovery
Make a backup
Flash saucy-preinstalled-touch-armel+manta.zip
Flash saucy-preinstalled-touch-armhf.zip
Reboot.
I've tired the 20131003.2 build but it seems these builds are meant more for a phone.

The preview builds back in July worked great for the manta. I hope they catch us up quick!

Can't wait for Ubuntu to be fully functional for xperia Z!

tf201
Would be very interesting for a tf201,, might be a good solution on the workfloor.
Will every chipset be supported?

I want to try Ubuntu touc on galaxy tab 2 p3100, should I need to have cyanogen 10.1 nightly or stable. because I can't find nightly build. I can find 10.2 nightly build for galaxy tab 2 p3100 .can I use that instead of 10.1 nightly for flashing Ubuntu touch?

This is just a developer preview so remember that many things don't work, i think you should wait for 17 October when official release for nexus devises comes out, after that devs will start making ports of the OS to other devises.

hello guys. I have a galaxy tab 10.1 WIFI 16GB. Currently im using milestone 4.
My problems started I think when I went to AOKP build 26. Many crashes (reboots)
WIFI doesnt work sometimes. sometimes when i didnt use the tab for a while and then i click the power button, I see the unlock screen but my touches do nothing.
This is realy frustrating cuz I cant use my tablet, Im having troubles ALL THE TIME.
I have CWM 4.0.0.4, yesterday when i tried to move to milestone 4 I also tried some other roms (not AOKP) and they all showed the same bug when i tried to install them: assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device")=="p4wifi" || getprop("ro.build.product")=="p4wifi"
WTF? i cant install roms that arent AOKP's. so guys, what can I do to save my dying tablet? please help
thanks, Amit.

Best ROM for TF101 Version 4.0.3

Im currently using Android Revolution HD, It seems ok but i expected more customization, I see almost no difference, Does anyone have some suggestions?
I've been looking at TEAM EOS 4 but noticed it's for 4.2, Would this work with 4.0.3?
Thanks in advance.
It isn't "for" 4.2, it is 4.2. You're going to be completely replacing 4.0.3. I've been using EOS 4, and think it's excellent. I tried the other CM 10 based JB ROMS and always went back to ICS because of issues. EOS 4 is more than stable enough as an everyday driver, and it got me interested in my TF again. I had been mainly using my Nexus 7.

Sorry for being a noob I installed my first custom rom yesterday, So i guess it's safe to install it? Would i need to "superwipe" before installing the new custom ROM?
No Superwipe. Just wipe data, cache, and Dalvik before installing. Don't forget to flash the latest GAPPS too. Many people also flash the KAT kernel. Your best bet is too read the first few pages of the EOS thread and follow the tutorial in the OP.

I would also recomend APEX Launcher with EOS4 as well. seems to run smoother then default lancher and it really opens up the customations of the tablet.

[Q] Timur and Kexec-Hardboot kernels together!? (using MultiROM AND USBRom together?)

Hey everyone.
i was wondering if i could have Timur's great kernel for USB Host power management AND be able to boot in ubuntu or other android roms, using amazing MultiRom?
i found that i have to use a patch or sth. like that, but i have no idea what i should do.
can anyone give me a step by step guide? noob proof?!!
Timur's kernel already includes the kexec-hardboot patch. When installing Ubuntu with MultiRom you are to select "Don't share kernel with Internal ROM".

Yes, Timur added the patch several months ago. And when you install ubuntu, you dont need to pick dont share kernel. The way multirom is set up, you cant share the kernel, because when you choose ubuntu as the medium, the option is automatically removed.

Cm means cyanogenMod, right? So installing the cm kernel on stock rom may harm my device, and the stock kernel doesnt support kexec, right?

Noob 4.3 ROM question

I'm a noob to tables but have done many flashes to my phones. My main question is, I'm rooted and ready to flash a ROM to my Nexus 7 but I'm confused about a few things. I'm running firmware 4.3 so do I need to flash a ROM that's made for 4.3? I'm interested in the Carbon ROM but it doesn't state that it for 4.3.
I'm interested in a stable ROM that has a lot of customizing options. Any suggestions?
Thanx in advance for helping out a Noob!

ROM = Firmware
Flashing ROM = Flashing different Firmware
If you flash a 4.2.2 ROM over a 4.3 STOCK ROM, then you will have 4.2.2, and nothing about your device will be 4.3
just to verify, you have the old Nexus 7 right?
Yes, old Nexus 7. Thanx! Now I feel comfortable trying some Roms.

There could be partition issues when you have the wrong one.Like there was with the 4.2 update. If you flash a 4.2 rom onto a 4.1 bootloader your whole data will get moved into another /0 folder

The nested 0 folders was a recovery issue, not a bootloader one. Neither CWM nor TWRP could initially deal with the new multi-user directory structure. Koush and Team Win promptly updated their recoveries to resolve it.

I've been very happy with RasBeanJelly. It has a good cross between features, speed, and light-weight. It tends to be quite stable. I ran it for about 7 months, until I decided that l decided I needed more excitement in my life and jumped to a bleeding edge ROM. Depending on how the new ROM does/does-not develop, I may go back.
Before you go changing ROMs, make sure you are ready. Then make sure you are really ready. After a couple of times you may actually be ready. Look around, and you will find some guides. Here's a good place to start: Flashing Guide. The biggest issue I have had is making sure I have a good BACKUP and RESTORE strategy that works.
Good Luck,
-John
Slimbean 4.3 beta 3 is pretty feature-rich and is a beta in name only...it's been rock solid for me. Get it at www.slimroms.net
Thanx for the ROM suggestions! I been running CyanogenMod Ver 10.2 Unofficial and I like it but now I'm ready to try some more Roms. I've got the hang of flashing stuff again so now I feel comfortable trying some new stuff.

[ROM][flo]>>>Sonic Open Kang Project[Testing]

Hi guys.....
We have compiled SOKP ROM for nexus7 flo....
I just want to make sure it boots before making a development thread
Since I don't own flo device am making a thread here for testing....
Visit here for detailed feature of sokp ROM
http://sonic-developers.com/?page_id=160
Visit here for download link
http://sonic-developers.com/testing/
So do make a backup before proceeding to test the ROM
Steps to flash ROM
Wipe data /system/cache/dalvik
Flash ROM(don't flash gapps)
Wipe cache /dalvik
Wait till it boots ....(at least 15mins this is because boot animation may or may not work since its 1st build...)
Post test results here...
If it not boots come with a logcat...
Hope all will cooperate and help me to bring this beautiful ROM to your devices...
Regards.

Nice Rom Test Build
To be Honest AudioGod, I think for the first SOKP Build I used, It seems to be very stable compared to other roms in the nightly stages, and it has a lot more features. The only issues i had which are not major is that sometimes it may say Google Play Store stopped Working and the same with Clock, but in the end it is my favorite rom for flo. Keep up the Good Work
Ok I will put this today......
Please dime come forward to test deb build......
Deb build is uploaded can any one test for me
Flo rom is working great for me. Used it all of today with no issues
This definitely should go into the Android development section so more people can test this, it works for me quite well and is one of my favorites in multirom. Maybe we can make it official and drop it in the original android section. Go for it dude
