Sony Working On An Xperia Z With Snapdragon 800 Chipset - Xperia Z General

Sony working on an Xperia Z with Snapdragon 800 chipset?
Source:
http://www.xperiablog.net/2013/06/23/xperia-z-with-snapdragon-800-chipset-in-the-works/

even if they put snapdragon 1200 i wont buy it

bastards.. they couldn't do it 2 months ago, now could they?

If I can trade the old XZ and get the new version while adding some money I'd be happy.

It's just the Honami, it's a bit thicker and sort of the best of the Z and ZL with a much better camera and Snapdragon 800.
Remember the Xperia S was called the Xperia Arc HD in early stages too.

even as xperia blog says that guy who said this does not have a good track record of leaks , so i doubt this happening or may be the rumored google edition xz or even Honami which is suppose to be a look alike for the xz

You misread it. The blog says: " Eldar Murtazin, known to provide accurate leaks in the past".
The Honami isn't 5" so we shall see.

Wow, they don't even provide a source for their 'update'.

CPU/GPU upgrade for the moment is meeningless for me at least, good part was HTC ONE class display, but bad part is "it colud not make it in real phone"

Guys it doesn't matter if there is an updated Z. We all know that honami will be the flagship of H2. And when honami is announced, everyone is just going buy that and forget the updated Z.
Everyone will buy honami, everything is new and built from the ground in Japan.
Sent from my C6603 using xda premium

A Z with the 800cpu seems misguided with Honami launching in a few months. It'll just be another in an already long list of devices causes yet further delays in the update process.

The update came after some sites began claiming the Xperia Z refresh to be Honami. Really, they have no idea.

If there was a way to trade my Xperia Z for the Snapdragon 800 version without buying it again...

Try in the right forum, Xperia Arc Android Development.
NOPE. It looks it isn't true:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/09/08/sony-ericsson-no-decision-has-been-made-to-bring-ice-cream-sandwich-to-xperia-devices/
So it's become ambiguous then?
Pretty sure they will update the new arcS or whatever it is called the same as are Arc's but with the new 1.4ghz chip. That being the only change on paper. I don't think it would be to hard to make it working on are Arc's.
If they don't update LT15i or the new arcS is going look rather bad, especially after the commotion with the xperia x10.

I don't want to have 50MB free RAM after upgrade.
And that maybe be a good excuse for SE not to release the upgrade.

That's what I don't understand about se? Don't they think out of the box? Why so little memory? I said this before! I got an android phone for apps and with little memory plus all the new version of android coming out they should have been thinking! But if they didn't want you to buy a new phone they would have put more memory, it's all about the money

Xperia Mini small size, 1GHz cpu (overclockable up to 2GHz), 512 MB RAM, ICS update from SE, official CyanogenMod support, multitouch (i really miss this on my synaptics X8), good price - cca 150 euros
Xperia Play €149 here
Official CyanogenMod and gets official ICS from SE too!

I think mine will be SEX Mini Pro / SEX Ray. but I think its kinda complicated to root(is it? I mean downgrade etc ). I'll buy a phone that got 100% support from CyanogenMod!
I am going for ARC or ARC-S, which is going to fit my pocket.
1. What about Xperia neo V ?
2. Will it get official ICS update or not ?

Look at that :) A new Sony phone with specs like X8i/W8i/x10i mini

New Sony phone just leaked - Sony ST21i. It has same MSM7227 chipset as our X8i/W8i/x10i mini and even same resolution lcd - 320x480, 3mpx camera and most important thing that it runs Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.3!
Maybe some porting when it will go on sale?
More info: http://www.gsmarena.com/unofficial_sony_st21i_leaks-news-4172.php
If a phone like that can run ICS, and SE still say our X8's cant, b*tches will die
Yeah , one more posibility to have ICS better than GB on our x8 )

well we know nothing abpout RAM. We dont know how much it will have
but this is actually a good thing...it means completing our own ICS roms will be easier
Duh of course it will have 512 or maybe more
I think sony learnt their lesson(if they dont they really should go back to primary school to learn)

I am a little upset that the xperia E comes with official Android 4.1 JB having less specs then the xperia play and they get jellybean! not ICS straight to jellybean! both specs are identical but the xperia E has a lower Gpu and internal memory AND STILL! I understand that sony said that they wanted to leave this phone as a gaming phone but at least make it a optional update on your own risk or something

I think the problem is even if Sony released JB for our phone game development would still be slowing down like it has been lately. Plus all the older XPO releases like asphalt 6 and star battalion wouldn't work. Not like a lot of people play those. I still do. Is it possible to utilize some aspects of the xperia e's firmware?

thats why i say at your own risk, for people who might not want to game in the xperia play
Wouldn't be the first time a weaker phone got a newer FW than Xperia Play... we've already established that the reason Xperia Play didn't get ICS/JB was because it would throw the software compatibility way off.
If you want a good example of how bad it would've been, just look at all Evo V owners who are in an absolute fury because the vast majority of 3D games were made to operate under 2.3. The way I see it, Sony did the smart thing by opting for a more stable ecosystem.
The thing is that a lot of app developers are abandoning gb, and making apps for 4.0+, even Google them self, example, chrome browser a great browser but not for gb.
I'd even settle for a decent official ics from Sony, I mean the developers here are doing a better job than them
sent from my R800z using XDA premium
The Xperia Play has a Scorpion S2 CPU, it's old. The Xperia E is a Cortex A5. Scorpion might be faster in raw flops but the A5 has more features. Snapdragon is quite poor by today's standards and the Xperia E will probably beat it in many ways.

Hey dan!
and i see what you mean by the differences, i seen some benchmarks
I am going to admit many people know more about the inner workings of hardware. But I am sure that with the xperia e's 320x240 resolution also helps in benchmarks as it's not having to push as much in terms of resolution. Although I know that is only one aspect of a bigger picture.

My friend has an Xperia J which is running on stock ICS and I can tell you it is laggy as hell, my phone with Krisdee's Hybrid ROM is much more stable. I know this has nothing to do with the Xperia E but Xperia J has similar hardware as our Xperia Play. Maybe he has a faulty device, I don't know.

The rumors, according to the article behind the bold letters , seem to be true. It's logically for Google to optimize Android for cheap (not necessarily old) phones, having in mind that WP8 for example is really smooth on modest hardware.
But, Hell Yeah, I'm afraid you all are right.
Sony will not come back to us. Two years ago, I had an Xperia X8 and Sony stopped the development to 2.1 Eclair, letting all owners without the native possibility to move apps to SD card. They used the same expression: "SONY cannot guarantee a satisfactorily user experience". Useless to say that the geniuses from XDA developed versions far beyond Gingerbread.
But, hope remains always ...
