what does sim locked means? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Every time I reboot my phone, I need to input a sim pin to unlock it.
I remember that previously for my nokia phone I could set it not to ask for pin code using puk code.
Where could I do this in S4? Thanks a lot.

you meant that your phone is sim locked to a special carrier??
if not go to setting>security>lock sim card, activate or deactivate sim pin

Thanks. This helps.

SIM Unlock ?

I have my SIM unlock code from AT&T. However, I put in an old T-Mobile SIM and it isn't recognized. Now the SIM was last active in December 2012. Does the SIM need to be active for it to be recognized and allow me to enter the unlock code?

Yes, when you enter a bad or unused SIM card into a phone - the phone will recognize it has one in it but will not work, obviously. If you had an active SIM to fit and put that in, it should prompt you for the unlock code before the phone can be utilized.
Oh when I put the old card in it didn't even seem to recognize it. Just said no Sim card. I guess I need to find a buddy who has T-Mobile.

How to get phone to ask for SIM unlock code?

my phone is definately locked and when i put in a SIM from another carrier, it does not ask for a SIM unlock code.. it just says SIM Locked with a dismiss button.
How can i get my phone to ask the unlock code?
Is this some setting in the build.prop file? i went through the whole file and tweaked a few ettings relatd to PUK but no luck.. any other settings you can think of?

Can't write sim unlock code, please Help

Hi.
I bought a locked s8+ from Telcel México. I want it to use it on Att, I have the unlock aim code. The problem is when I instert the att sim I got a message "SIM network PIN blocked. Enter Sim network PUK." and a small lock blue icon. But I can't write anything, there is no keyboard option or anything. Any help? Thanks!
Have you tried another SIM card? Maybe read this: https://www.att.com/esupport/article.html#!/wireless/KM1000485

I just unlocked my phone this weekend. A number pad should have appeared. If you didn't turn off the phone to change the SIM try restarting. If that doesn't work try a different card.

Tried 2 different cards and had the same screen.
Now I flashed a new rom, that screen disappeared but now when I insert a new sim car got a new screen and now I can write the numbers. The problem is that I don't have the PUK code, I think that I need an unfreeze code, anyone knows how can i get that code? Or how can i unlock my phone?
Thank you!
Same **** with mine.

You need the PUK code for the new sim card - most print this on the card that you popped the sim out of. If you don't have the original outer card, then call the carrier for the NEW sim card you are trying to use and they should be able to help you.

Changing sim card during unlock

Hello all, I have a bit of a weird question.
I want to unlock my mi9t, and I'm told that requires a sim card and takes a couple of weeks.
Problem is, I'll be changing sim cards soon, at some indeterminable time between in a week and in 3-4 months. It's outside of my control and I have no idea when it'll happen.
Is there a problem with changing sim cards part way through?
Is there a problem with unlocking with one sim card and then using another?
Thank you.
What do you want? Unlock simlock or unlock bootloader?
If bootloader it doesn't matter as it takes device number, not sim related

Alright, thank you. I did mean unlocking the bootloader.
I see you are new here, so before you do anything make a backup of your files and stick to guides
