If you like stock then why flash a custom ROM? If you don't like the added functionality that custom ROMs bring then there's no point using them. Use stock rooted and be happy, but don't ask (or, by the tone of your post, demand) devs to create ROMs for you which no one else will use.

That's what all custom ROMs are for the N4, since it runs pure Android. I honestly don't understand what you're trying to say.

Because aosp based rom are full of bugs, issues, force close and unstable ? making my n4 lagging without reason where stock doesn't have ?
But I somehow want an enhanced stock rom I don't know why.
Well maybe I could miss pie control which is the only thing that is useful in a n4 custom rom.

Dunno what you're taking about but I've experienced no lag on my N4 with stock or custom ROMs. I haven't come across a ROM which has any serious bugs or stability issues on the N4. Also, PIE is the only useful feature in your opinion. There are so many other useful features available IMO.

That makes no sense. There are no buggy roms on nexus devices. They're stable because nexus are aosp devices.
Don't make stuff up.

Is an all AOSP Rom even possible?

I mean all the way AOSP? I miss the Roms that were available for my G1...I thought the SenseUI would be awesome to have, but seriously...it actually sucks.
Yeah. There's AOSP 1.6, and DarchDroid is based off of AOSP 2.1. Do a search next time....
an all asop rom is not fully possible yet, theres a few out there but the camera doesnt work and a few other things but thats because they cant fix that until the official 2.1 comes out then we will have our fully aosp, theres darch vanilla, and darch droid, but a few things are missing as i stated above, if you are like me and you want a fully functionable aosp rom just wait until this update comes out then my friend we score, i hate sense, it blows...............ive been waiting for this a long time....dont even bother with the old aosp roms i mean their good but not 100%

Here's the big answer to your question. All AOSP roms ARE possible. They just don't have all the functionality of Sense ROMs. DarchVanilla, or the link in my sig, will get you as close to aosp as you can get without breaking functionality.

And might I add it's all HTCs fault because they won't release the .29 kernel source and their massive amount of modification to it disallows the ability to just port over a .29 kernel as it is... What Android was all about in the first place.

Haha, I have one of those too...but let me tell you, if you flash 2.1 on it, and even THINK about thinking about looking at it to go online or play a game....or make a call, your battery drains.

Any way to separate volume for ringtone and notifications?

I know it's Android related, but I can't believe this isn't available now.
I need to have my phone on LOUD for calls at night as I am usually on support for work, but I don't want notifications bothering me..
Any options?
Cyanogenmod includes the option for different loudness.

Thanks! Can't wait for an official, stable release.
It is stable, only the name is nightly runs so smooth and without issues for me.

Absolutely no difference in stability between stock and current CM10.1 nightlies. The only "issues" are that some CM10 features haven't yet been ported to CM10.1.

So bluetooth/wifi/gps/etc all work exactly as well on CM10.1 as they do on stock? Those are usually the things that give me problems on CM on non-Nexus phones.

Yes on non Nexus phones, but you got a nexus now, right? So all is working fine like on stock rom.
Good to know, so is this specific "feature" in there yet?
I promised myself I would leave it stock for a while..lol

[Q] [R&D] Port Air and Smart Features to Custom ROMS

Is it possible to port the air and smart gestures/features/etc. on the stock S4 ROMs to custom Roms?
I ask this because they are really the only features I use that are not on the custom roms.

I see, well here is hoping, oh also the multi window thing, that would be nice if it was ported as well.
Yes for touchwiz based custom Roms
I think you might be a little confused. There is no need to port any of the features you are talking about to stock ROMs considering these features already exist in stock ROMs.
If you're referring to aosp based ROMs. Probably not. But some might be compatible.

sorry about the late reply. but yes i wanted to know if they could be ported on aosp roms.
the two i really want is the smart stay option which keeps phone from screen off when you are looking at it and the multi-task side bar, i know there is a app for that already but it isn't really the same its nice that it was a system app and always in the backgroud kinda thing, like paranoid's halo.

Haven't tried CM with my 6P since I read that it's buggy and has issues with bluetooth.
Been running PN exclusively for months and never have any problems with it. It just works and the PN thread is very active.

Both are very nice rom bases.
Some people like cm but some like aosp (pure nexus).
Stock rom is always boring and have no features.
Flash 2-3 roms and check their features...
Almost all roms are stable but difference is features...
I like Dirty Unicorn... It's aosp based with cyanogen theme engine + a hell lot of features...
Im using Pure Nexus at the moment, but i want to try something else.
Years ago i only used CM but with that whole new Microsoft, Cortana **** i dont know.
I like Pure Nexus (and AOSP in general) better because it's still stock Android with additional features. It is boring compared to CM and CM based ROMS but that is what also makes AOSP based ROMs less buggy. While CM goes in the opposite direction. If you want a ROM that you can customize down to the littlest detail, go with CM. Just be aware of the Bluetooth bug found in every CM based ROM.

Benzo Rom is really good, I been running it for about a month and it's stable as. As for Cortana its actually pretty good, I've been using 'her' a lot in the Xbox Preview Program and it's actually incredible, Xbox is actually the perfect platform for 'her'
I have used CM12/13 on my Nexus 5 since the last 2 years and have loved every minute of the Cyanogen experience.
Recently got the Nexus 6p. Unlocked and rooted it the same day. Used CM13 on it for a week and found that my phone was randomly restarting. Used Resurrection Remix since i was not satisfied with CM13. Loved the level of customization RR offers, but was still experience random reboots along with other bugs. Have been using Pure Nexus since 3 days now and am glad to note that the random reboot issue seems to have been resolved. Although PN does not offer the level of customization that comes with CM/RR ROMs, it does offer the overall stability and amazing battery life. Which for me is a priority.
It may just be me but, I can't use CM. Every time I install a CM based ROM on my phone I get noticeably worse signal. Instead of having 4G where I am, I will have 3G. The moment I switch back to an AOSP based ROM (DU, Pure Nexus) I go back to getting normal signal. I can't say its CMS fault because I never really read up on CM causing this issue for anyone else so its purely anecdotal.

CM is caf based where it gets updates from Qualcomm directly which is why your signal bars look lower. That is your actual signal unlike aosp ROMs which aren't accurate.

where are the custom roms?

I am very tempted by the G6, its design, screen and price are all sweet, though it looks like the custom roms section is nearly dead, why is that?
Is the G6 hard to root?
LG don't open the bootloader to unlock on many models, that's the main issue.

It's 2017. Why are custom ROM's still a thing?
Genuine question. I feel like the standard of the stock firmware these days is good enough to negate the need for a custom ROM, especially if that ROM ruins key features like the camera. Why do people still use custom ROM's?

I agree with you to a degree. I almost never use anything but stock based ROMs with the stock kernel.
I mostly root to use Adaway and delete bloatware. That's pretty much the extent of it for me.
