Is google making glass software and hardware? - Glass General

Is google glass open source? Will google actually be making both the hardware and software exclusively themself, or can other manufacturers be able to make their own glass with the gloogle glass software (like current Android model).

The glass software is nothing but Android. The possibility of other companies making glasses with the Google Glass software is unlikely.

Need a new LCD

Hello,
So, I need a new lcd screen, the current one is faintly duplicating things near the left and at the left edge of the screen, there is a grey strip of pixels.
So, I need to know how much these things cost, where I can get it from (I'm in the UK) and how I replace the LCD.
Thanks!

I cant help you find a screen but the screen on my Xperia play has started to deteriorate too. I get kind of a ghosting effect for some reason, it has gotten worse over time but its not too annoying.

Yes, I get exactly that ghosting effect...
It is starting to make a horrid buzzing sound now, so I am thinking of getting a new LCD.

As far as I can tell, all the LCDs are compatible. In fact, these phones use a dual-mode CDMA/GSM chipset with different radios connected so they should use the same housings and LCDs and everything. I used a ZL1 touchscreen glass digitizer on my R800at, if that helps.

Lol but the ghosting is on all R800's. It's because of the low refresh rate and it gets a bit worse in low temperatures. It's a problem that affects all LCD's

I *highly* doubt that. If you even bothered to re-read your original post that prompted that, you would see.
Even without correcting your capitalization, things are SO much clearer with a little punctuation and better word choice:

Why is it a question? Also, most of the English-speaking world does not use or understand "post" as a verb. The rest is just a mess. I can't understand why you simply argued and never went back to fix this one yourself. I can't believe I was able to understand it enough to fix it. I don't know how you could expect someone else.

Just got this info from engadget...looks good
Following Samsung's launch of the it's-definitely-a-tablet 10.1 Note, it's become even more clear that the company's stylus S Pen is here to stay, in a very big way. Now, it's time for third-party developers to get sketchy with version 2.0 of the S Pen SDK. The biggest feature boost is the ability to animate drawings to pair with recorded voice, while other additions include SAMM Library access, improved rendering and the ability to revert after accidentally clearing all. Ready to start jotting?
How it works: Say for example, you are taking notes while recording a meeting. When you are reviewing your notes, you click on a word or pen swipe or whatever you were noting, and it then plays the audio from the exact time you made that note.
I'm not sure if I'm doing it any justice with that explanation; but in practice it's all kinds of awesome.
They (Samsung) have also started a contest for best S Pen apps. Winner gets $100,000.
So they are definitely trying to attract developers.
For the love of all things efficient, will somebody _please_ build an app that allows annotation of word and powerpoint documents with the s-pen.
My boss will pay good money for this feature!

Good bye Kindle Fire.

Hey guys. Ahh the Kindle Fire. My first android tablet and obviously not my last it did me so good but now I'm gonna have to give it to my dad I just bought myself a nexus 7. I have to admit you guys made that old piece of s*** amazon firmware into something I never thought could work. you made that kindle into something that I never thought it could be but still I have to admit the nexus 7 is just so much better and I'll probably still be here but I'm gonna be over the nexus seven forums more. Thank you guys so much you have helped show me just why android triumphs over iOS.

If you are truly paranoid...you would not be on this board. I love my KF...and Android....and Google. Does @pple offer anything open source? You have to sign up for EVERYTHING nowadays, so how does one omit themselves from the data collection? Get off everything and live off the grid. I'd rather mull around and see what trouble I can cause, and devices I can root. I'm getting the N7 too...but my KF still has years of use in my household. All I have to do is leave it in plain sight, and people gravitate like monkies to bananers.

Uhhh.... Apple tracking fiasco? Are you talking about the one where Google circumvented Safari's privacy settings and was subsequently fined 4 million for?
Google is doing some scary stuff if u want to look at the privacy settings for Chrome extensions made by Google. I completely understand the viewpoint of wanting nothing to do with Google. I no longer use Gmail or Google Docs for this reason.
I'm willing to take some privacy risks because Android is better than iOS.

Screen defect?

Just noticed this on my screen....it looks like some sort of discoloration. I'm running nova launcher and I'm stock, not rooted. It only appears on any grey popup dialog like the one below. Anyone know what it could be? It looks to me kinda like a background mess up on googles part on the grey popups but I could be wrong.

Can you guys please reply to my issue I've posted and spread the word as much as you can? We're no devs, but the best we can do is to raise awareness, because this is an issue that is unacceptable in final build stable software across multiple devices.

No. iOS and Android operate in a whole different way. iOS is also restricted for the hardware it's made for. iOS is also crap.
The closest to iOS you can come on android, however, would be MIUI.
Why the hell would anyone want that archaic POS on our awesome phone? Even if it was possible why would anyone want to????
if you want iOS then do what anyone else would do and buy an iPhone and become one of the many iSheep of the world (isn't it time they were culled anyway?)
Why would you want to do that? not 1 aspect of iOS is open source.
