drivers are from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2038555

Go to start, type in Uninstall a program and then uninstall any old drivers. You can also uninstall them from Device manager. Then try reinstall the new drivers.

but isn't it recommended for kies to be uninstalled if using odin? i've come from an HTC and these things are all new to me

Just disable kies from task manager when flashing with odin. See my sig for more info :thumbup:
sent from my Galaxy

thank you, will report

So i fix my drivers issue by:
1.install kies
2.reboot computer
3.enter download mode on the s4 and windows starts installing some drivers for it.
4.let it install(there were two drivers)
5.reboot
6.disable firewall,antivirus,kies
6.start odin and connect the s4 on donwload mode and viola! it works like a charm.

Root device? Safe?

Hi!
I have had this phone for a while now and thinking about rooting it so i can use droidwall and OC the phone. How is the easiest wat and is it safe?
Isak
i used z4root and no side-effect so far..
Ok, but if something goes wrong is it anyway to recover all data on the phone and just start up again?
i would say its always wise to do a backup before trying anything potentially dangerous..
u may read the other topic about recovery mode in this board for this..
Ok, gör det innan jag försöker roota
good luck and have fun..
worked perfect Thanks!
@Isakk1, can you please guide me how you rooted your u8800 using z4root?I got problem with the driver (huawei hsusb device)
hoping for your immediate response.tnx

USB driver for windows? do you see the auto mounted CD drive after plugging in? the drivers are there
Why need of drivers?
Assuming you are trying to copy z4root on your device... SD-card should mount itself when you plug usb in, just choose to mount from your phone notification are.
Moved to general.
I think this is what you're trying to do:
1. Open device manager, you will see this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Then right click on the HSUSB Device choose update driver then browse my computer manually. Then browse to this:
It will then install the driver and it should show this in device manager now:
Also worthwhile would be starting cmd and running adb devices to make sure the phone is listed.
thankz a lot guys..very appreciated
i rooted my phone . but i feel it's not good idea when i use 1 week. the phone always have some issues when use, so i flash back.
Can someone upload the drivers and share the link coz I can't find the drivers on the mounted drive (it's empty) after I installed the B160 based ROM.
Drivers attached to this post
Thanks alot!
I used z4root from Applanet.net
installed easily and rooted no probs as well.

When I connect my phone with USB-Debugging enabled I get a message from Kies: "Reconnect your device in the Samsung Kies-(PC Studio)-mode again. The current connecting mode is not supported by Kies."
I'm sure you have already tried this....but have you plugged the usb cable into a different slot? preferably one at the back of the Pc. My phone wont sync with Kies if I have it connected to the front slots.
Still doesn't work.
Open kies.
Instal drivers from the menu.
Wait until it says complete. A couple of times it did not bring up the instal dialogue box. Keep trying until it says drivers installed.
It will then work. I had this problem on both xp and win 7. This sorted it.

It installs the drivers. The problem is, once I uncheck the USB debug mode and reconnect the phone it installs the drivers again and fails.
Plug your phone into the PC, turn off USB debugging & select USB tethering. See if it installs the driver that way. Also do this while your PC is connected to the internet, when/if it fails leave it plugged in the PC and check windows update to see if you need to download an update for the drivers.
Still doesn't work. I did a Windows Update.
Gerät entfernt means device removed and Fehlgeschlagen means failed.
Guys its simple.....i was also facing this problem. just unchecked USB debugging mode....and try to connect again. Its Done.
Another useless thread...

thank but I think I have some problem with regsrv32.exe; it can not register the DLL then can not manage the driver files
no one encounter this?
I had the same problem with Win7 64 bits. I tried it on multiple Win7 64b machines, but they all failed to connect through usb. Connect with WiFi does work though, but then you cannot upgrade your phone firmware.
On a 32bit Win7 it worked every time, so I think it is a bug in Kies.

[Q] Graphics Driver Problem...

Hi, i installed Windows 8 on my Laptop and all is well even aero works (which it normally doesnt in windows 7 and vista), ok... not everything; my graphics driver will NOT install. No matter what i do, (compatibility mode, different driver, older driver, newer driver) it just doesnt work, gives me an error message:
{

}
My Graphics card is a Via P4M800 or Via/S3G UniChrome Pro IGP (yes i know the worst as can be, but my me or my dad didn't know this while buying off ebay)
I know there is know WDDM driver but aero seems to work- even without a driver
Please give me a driver, I cant play any games and aero lags and so does basic
ANYONE?!?! please help me... bump
This is a developer preview. This is at pre-beta stage. Give folks a chance to come up with drivers for it or for existing drivers to be tweaked.
but i heard all windows 7 drivers work, not all really
try install the .net framework 3.5
I have ati 6630m graphics card.
i tried it and it start working.
or
download the latest driver and install from the source
or from here:
download.cnet.com/VIA-S3G-UniChrome-Pro-IGP/3000-2108_4-146347.html
In the device Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver to start the Hardware Update Wizard. Follow the instructions to update the driver.
or if that does not work
then download the latest driver then go to device manager and update through manually finding the location of the driver.
sometimes it works.
Did you run it as admin?
remember disabling UAC doesn-t do anything more than just don't display the uac message.
but if you don't run it as admin some programs and installation wont work. and when in tried to install drivers without running as admin it didn't work. until i ran it as admin.
drivers should work. so i wonder if you ran it as admin.

[Q] ADB connection problem - Device Offline

This is weird. I never had this problem with my Galaxy S3.
I've enabled USB Debugging on the phone.
Even toggled it off, rebooted and turned it on again.
I've also rebooted my computer and even updated SDK Toolkit.
No change in problem though.
Every time I try to connect to my phone from ADB, it just tells me the device is offline (see attached pic).
Any ideas?

Try this
http://www.wugfresh.com/faqs/how-to-fix-adb-device-is-listed-as-offline-on-android-4-2-2/
And if you do a Google search for
how to fix adb device offline
It comes up with other things to try
Sent from my A500 using Tapatalk HD
Thanks, I tried the info in that link but never got the pop-up asking for ADB permissions.
I did google prior to posting also. I listed in my OP what I tried (which is what my googling suggested).
I'm about to ODIN back to factory stock anyways. So I'll try again after that. Maybe I messed something up during all the bloatware removal I did yesterday.
Nope, a fresh ODIN install of stock ROM didn't help at all.
Guess I'll have to uninstall & reinstall Android Toolkit maybe.
EDIT:
Using Motochopper root tool, I finally got the popup. And made sure to select "always allow from this computer". I think that should fixit.
EDIT #2:
Nope, that didn't help at all. Still "offline".
EDIT #3:
Actually, using the ADB from Motochopper does work. It's just the ADB from my Android Toolkit that doesn't work.
Sounds like one in android tool kit is out of date
Try updating the android sdk
