Phone signal - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

For the last week or so I've been experiencing a lot of signal lost with this phone. It would show I have lte and SIG all bars. However, nothing would work ..I can't browse the web..I can't send SMS and constantly get the failed notice.. I know its not the network since my friends on telus don't have any issues..
Is anyone else experiencing issues with the signal?

Are you running on stock? If so, are you running the latest version available from AT&T? Have you tried performing a factory reset?

[Q]current ****ty service by T-Mobile?

Ok so for the past, say 4 - 5 hours I've had no service at all. I've done restarts, taking out sim card, the basic procedures. But that's only a temporary fix. Now I'm stuck using WiFi to get calls and I can't text. Anyone else having service problems?
I live in NY if anyone was wondering.

Have you tried calling Tmobile first before you posted here?
Could be a network outage or something.
Just a though.
Yeah, around 2am-3.30am I had no data connection and the service kept dropping. I was sending texts at the time and they never go through until it found service and kept dropping it all the time. Now it's normal though.
I'm in NYC also
North Carolina here, and no data. Been off for a few hours now. Same on all our phones..Gonna wait a bit before calling T-Mobile as I am sure they know and are working on it.
I post here before I call T-Mobile.

[VIDEO] Nexus 4 keeps dropping signal

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYy6laAhfMc&feature=youtu.be
My Nexus 4 is constantly losing signal as seen in this video. I'm on my second Nexus4 (replacement device) and I'm still experiencing the same trouble.
I wouldn't be concerned if it just lost a couple of bars, but it always jumps to NO bars.
Please help!
Thanks

It could be your carrier. Did this happen on your old phone?

No I've never had a problem with my other phones. This happens everywhere with my Nexus 4, even when I know I'm in an area with a good signal.

What rom and radio are you currently using? Did you try factory reset or flashing other roms/radios?

I rooted and installed stock 4.2.2. The device came with 4.2.1 and was experiencing the same issue.
I just logged a ticket with Telus but I'm not sure if that's going to do anything.

Data drop

Hi all,
I'm really happy with my nexus 4 that I brought in November, but every day when i go out and i start using the 3G connection I'm having data drop.... That happens always, if I wanna check Facebook or just using Internet I have to try many times to get the data to work, I have tried stock kernel and now I'm on Franco kernel but seems that nothing works.
So are you having data drops issue? I'm thinking of sending my telephone back for warranty but I don't know if it is just me or if this is happening to all you?
Thx
I've been having the same issue. Are you on AT&T? I had them update my IMEI today and the old Cingular APN works consistently but they messed up my data plan, so I'll have to check back tomorrow when I'm back on the HSPA+ APN.

Nop, I brought it in USA trough google play store but I'm living in France I'm on Orange, but I don't know if it's something with the hardware because I already try 2 different companies.

This happened on my first nexus 4. Nothing fixed it. Nothing. Hopefully your situation is different. If nothing works, flash back to stock and start the RMA process. Google said it was a hardware failure with mine by the way.

Did your happen when you first got it or after you had it for awhile? And what's the RMA process

The periodic loss of signal was there since day. I still have it on my new one. Others do as well, but one day it went out and never came back on. I believe it was a different issue than just random signal loss. Google said hardware failed in it. You have to contact Google to start an RMA. I'm also not implying that your signal won't come back on at some time either. Personally I would flash everything back to stock. Go to a t mobile store and get a new Sim card and if no signal still then contact Google

Under settings, then data, then mobile networks, then to network operators.
let it search, even if it doesn't find anything or errors.
Then click choose automatically.
If you frequently travel out of 3g/H areas, you need that checked or the phone won't roam from tower to tower. you will get no signal.
Also, if that don't work, you can try clicking on a network it finds, and let it register, your signal may come back.
This is a common problem with those that don't live in big cities or near full strength 3g/h areas.
The phone doesn't handle tower handoffs well. Crappy LG modems.

Most likely wouldn't but it would be one more "possible" problem eliminated.

I'm currently going through the RMA process over virtually the exact same issue. However, I've been running franco's nightlies lately and up until he restored the HSIC/wifi stuff to stock in r154 I was actually experiencing less data drops and rapid tower swapping (constantly going from 3g to H and back rendering consistent data inoperable). *shrug* I feel as if it's something in the hardware on the cusp of failing because sometimes it does it more and sometimes it does it less. It's rather weird. I'm also on T-mobile towers through an MVNO (Straight Talk).
I just cancelled and switched to ATT go phone.
I have RMA'd 2 devices, tried multpie new simcards, relflashed, tried new radios, and nothing worked.
It no longer switches from 3g to H on ATT network.
It stays in H constantly.
Also, no more signal drops or loss of signal.
I have 100% signal all the time now.
The data is a little more expensive, but worth it for the coverage so far.
It's not your phone, it's the tmobile network.

[Q] reception

anyone having trouble with 3g reception, my phone seems to turn off the radio entirely every few minutes, it's either full bars and decent 3g or nothing at all, just no network messages
