Notification, Delete Emails, not available - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can anyone tell me why there is no delete email in the notification area on the S4???
When I slide the Notification down after getting emails I have the option of Archive or Reply but no Delete.
Is this function not available in the S4???
Alan

I believe the only way to delete emails is to go into the email app, click the button at the top to bring up the side bar, select show all folders under combined view and then you can delete them. It makes sense to not be able to delete emails from the notification bar as you could easily delete one by accident.

Just "archive" it.... gmail will send it into "deleted mail"

I'll have to try that. I always thought Archive was to store important email and they would not go to the Trash!!!
I have a couple of subscriptions to different sites and it would be nice to delete irrelevant email when they come in from time to time without having to open the app.

I assume you talk about Gmail (new version). Well, if yes, you need to go in Settings - General Settings - Archive and delete actions (first option)

TouchFlo shows incorrect unread mail count

Yesterday the TouchFlo of my Touch HD started to always show one unread e-mail although all mails were read. Deleting the account or a softreset or doing both didn't help (with or without TouchFlo disabled). Even without any mail account I still get one unread e-mail.
Start -> Messaging shows the correct mail count (0 unread mails).
If I receive a new mail the TouchFlo counts 2 unread, after I read the new one, 1 unread message remains.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

Go to Messaging to mail account open the tree and in outlook email you will see a message delete it and you are all set
Thank you very much! That was it!
I made an restore with pimbackup, and I still see 25 in the counter (I have a lot more). I also don't see any message in the outlook email
Sorry to hijack the thread but I have exactly the same problem but with SMS messages.
Its shows one unread message but there are none in the messages folder. Even if I go to the tree, sure enough its states Inbox (1) but upon entering the inbox there is nothing.
Can anyone help please, its driving me nuts!!
I'm having this exact same problem. Touchflo shows 1 SMS. I've completely cleared all messages in all folders, yet it still shows 1 on the counter. Like GuyAdams, it's driving me crazy too.

thanks a lot. that was my problem
it was driving me crazy.
i had the same problem a long time ago and someone in the raphael forums gave me a tool to reset unread message count. Go search there and see if you can find it. It was simply an exe file to run
I have the same problem with emails. It says I have 2 unread but ive deleted everything.
Tried going through the tree as above. Nothing shows.
Tried the .exe fiile. Nothing happened. Still showing 2 unread.
Any other suggestions?

This is what works most of the time!
Here's a little more detail. (different versions of Touchflo have minor differences)
1. go to 'Messaging' tab (sms texts) in Touchflo.
2. tap softkey (left) labeled 'All messages'
3. This should bring up 'Messaging' program.
4. tap softkey (right) labeled 'Menu'
5. tap option 'Go To >'
6. tap option 'Outlook E-mail'
7. Delete unread email here.
8. Close Messages and check that your email counter has adjusted.
Hopefully this works for most problems.
If you have done this you can download the *.exe others have mentioned. The name of it is fixunreadcount.exe and about 9k. Hopefully I've attached a zip of it to this post.
Still the problem, hidden account?
Hello,
Thank you for all these answers, but no method worked for me... I still have one unread message
Perhaps this problem has a link to this other issue: as I configured my gmail account, a bug makes that no account is created if I leave the name "Gmail" for the name account. If I choose "Google" or an other name, it works. Perhaps the "Gmail" account, which does not appear, is hidden somewhere?
Thanks for your help!

Thanks.
This .exe removed the 1 from the SMS inbox, but not the 1 from touchflo. I then did a soft reset and it was still there. I then did the "Go To" Outlook as suggested and checked Outlook and SMS inboxes and neither had the 1 in but JOY OF JOYS, when I came bake to Touchflo, the 1 had gone.
Thanks again.

Tried that already... I now have no messages at all and it still shows 1 sms to be read! Grrr
I had that problem until i noticed that there WAS an unread email, it wasn't in my newly created email inbox, it was in the Outlook Email inbox.
This email seems to be created automatically when you run the HD for the first time.
Have a look at the mail inbox again and switch it so you can see all the email accounts (use the the drop down list in the top left corner), check the Outlook Email Inbox too.
Goodluck.

Navigating E-Mails

Done a search but didn't come up with much, so apologies if it's been asked before.
Is there an option/reg hack that means you can select e-mails in an inbox without opening them? With the lack of directional buttons and touch only, I can't navigate to an e-mail that I just want to delete rather than read.
Any tips?
Thanks
Tim

While you are in inbox, open the right soft menu & in select messages option select several.
Now, select messages you want to delete & keeping over any one of selected messages click & hold.
Now you get an option to delete the messages you have selected.

[Q] Mark mail as Read from the lockscreen ?

Hi,
is there an easy way on Android 4.3 (or with an application), to have a 2-3 lines preview of mail received and mark it as read from the lockscreen ?
I receive many emails during the day and it is too fastidious to have to unlock the phone, go to the mail application and mark mail as read.
I have tried NiLS and Dashlock but it doesn't do this.
Thank you
You're looking for an application that supports this. I don't know any, but some allow you to mark the email as read from the notification, you could just drag down the notification bar. If you can't do that (lockscreen security), there's an Xposed module that allows you to see the notification panel even when the phone is locked.
Also, FN (there may be other similar apps) can show you notification bubbles on the lockscreen, and allows you to choose quick actions.

Thank you for your answer.
Which application can let me mark an email as read from the notification bar please ? (that should be a great solution if, by swaping, I can mark mail as read.
Thanks

CloudMagic is the most recent one I've used that does (no swapping, you just press a "Mark Read" button in the notification).

Oh you don't know an app that modifies the notification center without having to use a third party mail application ?
I really dont like to use a third party mail app as many time, it acts like a proxy and can have a copy of your inbox or your password.
Thank you

No, the application would have to support it itself, nothing to do with the "notification center".

A2017G - Select all email

In the Email app I cannot find a way to select all the messages, but I have to select them one by one (for example if I want to empty the deleted mail). Is there an alternative way?
Thank you

You can clear all of the messages in one section. For example Trash. If you go to Trash and swipe down just a little you'll see two buttons, Clear and Edit. I have no idea what Edit does but Clear deletes all the messages
