I feel the same, returning my Verizon S4 today or tomorrow. Can't wait, hope it ships with 4.2.2.
Any Moderators around to create a forum for it?

This is too late. I changed to att, I wonder if the success of the one has changed Verizon mind.

Lol. The AT&T one was unlock-able with HTC Dev...So it wasnt "locked" by AT&T. But this will surely be encrypted and no HTC Dev support.

It would be tragic if this phone was locked down so tight that we couldn't flash anything.

Too late Verizon. God I hate you.

LOL!
Reminds me of that EVO vs iPhone cartoon.
I'm looking forward to the one. I put my name on the "remind me" sign up on t-mo's site. I'm pretty pissed that they've been so quiet about this. It doesn't seem like a good marketing plan to introduce just the iPhone 5 when they could blitzkrieg advertising by showing they'll have the best 3 phones possible, GS4, One and [the unholy] iPhone 5.
If they're looking to show people they have the best phones out, they sure are doing a crappy job of it. I'm not sure which phone I want, the S4 or the One, but I'm thinking the One is the best option I've got due to the speaker locations.
I'm not excited about getting a Sense phone again, especially since Sense 5 de-standardizes all the Android functions I'm used to, but I'm sure there will be rooting and ROMs galore in no time.

all i know is VZW is locked so they better offer me the Dev Edition today when the regulars go on sale at 12noon central time. :fingers-crossed:
Just came here to check on this. Is there any info on if there will be a VZW Dev Edition? I assume price is $550 for 32gb version, which is a pretty penny but will be worth it.
Most likely will come out same time as unlocked version right? Sept 25th rumored?

Well, that's discouraging. I really hope they reconsider that decision.
I hope that information is wrong, total bummer if true.
The only real reason I need an unlocked bootloader is to tether (for free). I have unlimited and I use my hotspot to run my tablet a LOT.
Come'on Verizon!
man hold on..let the roll out start before we jump to conclusion about no VZW Dev edition.. there is no way they wont offer one. they made money this way last time. i bought at the damn 700 dollar range first day offered.

I found this though, but it might just be the unlocked version I posted about at the beginning
http://phandroid.com/2014/09/05/bootloader-unlocked-moto-x-2nd-gen-2014/
What did they say about the first generation developers edition when It was first announced? I'm hoping they are just giving Verizon a month or so head start with the standard version before releasing one. The first Google+ thread did mention that it was just "at this time".
I think Justin case unlocked the boot loader on the original X, maybe it will work for this one too
The newest bootloader on the original MX has yet to be broken, but I have saw talk of the firmware before the last update being include on Sunshine that @jcase created. Hopefully he will get a Verizon model when It is released.

I'm curious to see if they offer any developer editions from this point forward ... If they do, why single out the X? (unless it really sold that badly and this was a choice made by Motorola, not Verizon)

I'm betting it was a choice made by Motorola. I bought a 2013 Dev edition about 2 weeks ago and it had a build date of January. If I'm getting January stock in August then it did not sale well at all. [emoji20]

[Sprint] specific forum discussion

I've already hit up @MikeChannon for a Sprint specific forum....between the unlocked/att/tmo/vzw & sprint models, only the sprint model will have a different ROM.
Sprint users, speak up
*edit*
as it stands, it's a wait & see game to see if the forums blow up after release...as for now, there has only been a Sprint Development sub-forum added
my suggestion for sprint users is if u start a new thread start w/ [Sprint] at the beginning of the thread title or at least have Sprint in the title somewhere. If there's enough Sprint specific threads, they may create a Sprint specific forum
