[GUIDE][02/06] How to repair/unbrick Asus Memo Pad Smart 10 - Transformer TF300T General

Hello!
I have a good news for all Memo Pad Smarts owners. I found a way to flash this tablet when we are on locked bootloader and obtained bootloop. I tried to update it with method for TF300T (update file named to EP201_768_SDUPDATE) but not working, then i go to /cache/recovery and find file last-log (my tablet wasn't bricked) and i find line like that: "Can't find update file" EP201_1024_SDUPDATE". So I renamed my update file to EP201_1024_SDUPDATE and it work! Now I'm going to write a whole instruction step by step.
Instruction:
1. Download file from asus.com: WW_epaduser_10_4_5_27_12_UpdateLauncher.zip
Attention! firstly check your SKU. This file is for WW SKU!
2. Extract first zip, and rename the zip which you extracted from the first to EP201_1024_SDUPDATE
3. Format SD cart with FAT32 and copy file on this - it shouldn't be in any folder!
4. Put SD in to your tablet
5. Turn on your tablet by holding POWER+VOLUME DOWN until you see ASUS logo.
6. Choose RCK option by pressing VOLUME DOWN - it should by choose by default, then press VOLUME UP to enter RCK
7. Now wait several minutes - be patient!
If you have any problems, write there!

It is the same method for TF300T/TF700T . I think XDA should join all this devices on one forum since they have so many things in common...
Anyway, take my thanks

Yes, the difference is only name of file. Anyway this devices are very similar

I need help I rooted my MEMO 10 pad with no problem then i tried to load beats audio. Big Mistake. now it is just stuck on the asus load page with the wait circle going round. I tried the method suggested here hoping it would wok but alas it has not. please help I just got this tablet 2 days ago

whaaaa?
1. Download file from asus.com: WW_epaduser_10_4_5_27_12_UpdateLauncher.zip
I've been looking around on the asus site for that file and I can't find it! could you give me a link?

having huge problems with my asus MeMo pad (smart 10") I have a whole bunch of corrupted apps that are rendering my tablet essentially a brick. my launcher, keyboard, and UI are all fried. I cannot even boot into recovery. is there anything I can do to fix this?

Please help
I can't go to recovery mode nor fastboot how to fix it

This works.
This worked for me. Just signed up here to say that.
I have ME301T
Sounds crazy but I did as instructed in Michal's OP and it worked.
Unzipped the zipfile downloaded from Asus.com (can't post link due to noob status. Search on asus for memo pad smart 10 then select drivers and tools, then OS and then firmware)
renamed the zip that is extracted from that zip, as described in OP.
put it on my fat32 SD and it worked.
My tablet randomly started bootlooping, I didn't add any new apps or make other changes before, it just started looping randomly.
I may have let the battery drain completely though. Had to unplug the battery (youtube describes this) before trying reloadin order to get it to start charging again. Then did the procedure in this thread and I'm all good now.
Thank you!
boot loop

Cheers M8 worked like a charm after i renamed it indeed to 1024.
Much appreciated !!!

I have the same problem with the TF300T

the file should be named
Code:
EP201_1024_SDUPDATE.zip

Hi all,
(previous situation:
- My tablet started boot looping, maybe because of letting the battery drain.
- Hard/ soft reset did not work, wipe data did not work, ended up in boot loops.)
Tried this method today, and after pressing RCK the tablet restarted: Now changing between the android robot (without the red triangle) and the Asus display.
Any suggestions?

Thank you!!!! :good:
Finally, the system update was installed on my unbootable ASUS MeMO Pad K001 / ASUS MeMO Pad Smart 10 / ME301T.

The .zip file extension is needed.
I used a 8GB MicroSD card that was already FAT32 formatted and had other files on it.

This applyes to ASUS MeMO Pad FHD 10 (ME302KL)
Format SD card with FAT 32 and copy the zip file inside this archive http s://dlcdnets.asus .com/pub/ASUS/EeePAD/ME302KL/ME302KL-JP_epad-user-10_10_3_41-UpdateLauncher.zip
So this file JP_epad-user-10.10.3.41.zip will be in your root on sdcard
Enter recovery mode by double making the recovery entering procedure, holding power + up, sounds weir but it worked
select adb sideload and do as here: http s://www .youtube.com/watch?v=SHu-CMubrhA - i used command prompt in admin mode powershell didn`t worked for me

[Q] Ideos x5 - Bricked beyond recognition...

Hi everybody,
I have a serious problem with my Ideos x5 (U8800). I tried to upgrade to the Aurora ICS ROM and bricked my phone. Some quick info:
- I have the Gingerbread update on my PC (dload/UPDATE.APP)
- I can't boot into recovery mode
- I can't access my sdcard
- I can boot into pink-screen mode
- Phone keeps rebooting itself when I try recovery mode
- Tried replacing boot.img and recovery.img with original files
- Before it started to reboot itself I tried recovery in CWM
I downloaded the Android SDK, but I have no idea what to do with it.
[EDIT] Ok, so I tried rebooting the phone with adb but it fails to recognize my device when I use "adb devices".
If anyone can help me get SOME kind of ROM installed, I would love you forever. I might even throw in some cash. I can't afford a new phone
Sincerely,
You need some micro sd reader/writer.
1. Format sdcard
2. Put dload folder witch contains GB update to root of sdcard
3. Take battery out
4. Plug usb in
5. Boot and press both volume keys while booting phone.
6. Update should start
Sent from my GT-P1000 using Tapatalk 2
Thanks for the answer.
I was thinking something like that myself.. I'll get a sd-reader tomorrow and get back here if it worked out or not.
[EDIT] Yep, as I suspected. It worked really good. A big thank you, fine sir!
Mods could delete thread or keep it for future reference for others.

How to unbrick your tablet!!!!!!!!!!!!!

**NEW GET THE TWO ICS ROMS http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1633907**NEW
first download all three of the files
open the acer decrypter and run it
now where select the input file, should be in downloads folder(leave the output folder
remove the sd card from your acer a500 and put it into some kind of device that can hold an sd card and plug it in
select usb mass storage device or disk drive on your device
go into your download and open the DECRYPTED rom
Extract the whole folder to desktop
now copy all of that to the sd card through your phone/device
shut off iconia tab
hold power button and VOL- until it says entering recovery mode
now you should see a green android guy with gears in him
DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING
hope this worked, it worked for me!!!!!!!!
*************if the first rom doesnt work do the same steps for the second one, be sure to delete the first one off your sd card*********
any input from other users,... success?.....failure?.
just think this is good info..."if correct" i wouldn't mind having this knowledge if it works
Yes, it works. I did it a few times to unbrick my A501 this week.
I had broken my recovery also, so the EUU version helped in that case, but at least I got a clean start to go to another ROM.
hope this has worked if it has please hit the thanks button
When you say SD Card, do you mean the external SD card, or the onboard card? I need to do this, but my tablet isn't recognizing my external SD card. Is there another place for me to put the files, where the tablet will access them?
You need to us ethe external one, in cwm mount SD card
lol im such a dope ive actually used the EEU rom to ix the verified boot failed error when i first loaded flexreaper.....lol mind becoming more cluttered then my pc.
For a cluttered PC I would recommend advanced system care hahahahhahahahha and for your head a good run or bike ride or even a nap

Hi,
just a question, why download the 2 ICS ?
one of the 2 is enough ? Which one to choose ? What is the difference ?
Thanks
Only boots to recovery
So i have been using the flexreaper rom and i tried installing the newest revision and when it all finished (i took all the proper wipe steps before installing) and now my tablet only goes to the acer screen... I have tried other roms, but no dice. I am going to see if this works.
Great Job!
You did a great job with this post, It works flawlessly
Thanks!
My Iconia does not even boot, all I have is a black screen with the power light on. Will this method work for me?
Try pressing the power button and volume up at the same time and if you see the green android with gears, you are good to go.

I have managed to get it out of APX mode and flashed Lightspeed V8 ICS bootloader and recovery. Have tried to flash multiple ICS roms but it hangs at "Booting primary kernel image" with every one. Any possible ideas?

you need to re-install your bootloader, all the roms now require the ics bootloader

Any steps to follow on how to root my TPT ROW on a mac?
Does not work at all for me. nvflash shows me the typical 0x4 error when it tries to injct the bootloader bin file...
This will work only on unlocked devices, because it uses nvflash and i can't find any sbk in the bat files (cwm.zip). The root.zip only contains the known exploit for devices below ICS.

Yes, I heard this and tried it on my US 32Gb version, but i failed.
Got an write/read error/warning, then the program stopped.
As I know, this rooting method ONLY works on ROW versions, but not US version.:crying:
It did fail, but did not bring any bad effects to my TPT. I just updated to the stock OTA3.5 smoothly.
Anyway, thanks for sharing.
Hey guys, i just wanted to tell you that it worked for my OTA3 TPT ROW.
Tip: try extracting the recovery image from your rom (eg. US) and put it instead of the one provided in there rars, it might work for you.
Cheers!
Google did it's best to translate the think but I'm a little weary to try it as the steps are still a bit garbled.
EDIT: Does anyone have a stock rom? I'm looking to do what the last commenter suggested and switch out the image.

I followed the translated instructions and am now running CM10 on my 16GB ROW. It's fantastic -- like having a new device.
The instructions are pretty simple to follow. I had one problem though.
To use nvflash, you need to start the tablet by holding down the rotation lock button and then install the provided driver in Windows. This works well. However, after performing a flash, Windows would no longer recognize it if you power it on while holding the rotation lock button. To gain access to the special recovery mode again, I had to uninstall the device and driver in Windows Device Manager, and the reinstall again when prompted.
Because the whole procedure requires multiple flashes with nvflash, I had to perform this uninstall-reinstall process several times.
Other than that, it worked perfectly well.
Hope this helps if anyone encounters the same issue.
Does this mean we have the key for nvflash?

My question in regards to this is can we build a flashable rom of this? And would this work with the US TPT?

I need to try this. But from what I understand this only works for ROW versions and not US versions(given the attached files from the OP). If someone could post an image of a US version I'd cross my fingers and give it a go.
I can't even get past CWM.bat.
I get an NvError 0x30011.

Same here and before is a hidden 0x4 hidden by a CLS command inside the script.
I'd be great if we could get some developers input. I program in C++ and Visual Basic but have no experience with Android/Linux to be able to look deeper into this :S
Moved To General
If somebody wants to write a guide and supply a proper dev section thread, fine. But this thread is not development.
Hi, I have succesfully rooted my ROW 16GB Wifi-only ICS 4.0.3 tablet following chinese guide. Excuse my english, Im not native speaker . I'll try to explain what I did:
1. make sure you can see your TPT with "adb devices" command.
2. turn off your device, make sure you have USB cable connected, hold rotation lock button + power on device to get to APX mode. Screen will not turn on, but windows will find new APX hardware unknown.
3. update software driver for APX, set CWM folder manualy. You should now have NVIDIA USB Boot-recovery drover for Mobile devices installed.
4. in APX mode run "cwm.bat", after its done, reboot device to APX mode and press any key, dont press it before you restart your device. You can see CWM_recovery.img installing to your tablet. Follow instruction...
5. After step 4 is done, reboot your device to Recovery, when you see small lenovo logo spam volume up button until you see "booting to recovery kernel mode".
6. Navigate to mount and store using vol +/- button, power button to confirm. Select mount /system
7. make sure you can still ses your device using "adb devices" command, and run root.bat, follow instruction. When all is done, select power off in recovery menu.
8. Now you have root, but you cant boot to system. You need to get to APX mode again and run "403 recovery.bat", follow same steps as with "cwm.bat".
9. reboot and you should now have rooted TPT.
Hope this help, Im not so good at giving instructions .

Flashed JB Stock Rom via CWM 5.8.2.0 Touch

Hey folks,
once there was a little boy who was glad to own a new Transformer, but after he made a mistake, the little boy thought his beloved Transformer transformed into a pretty pricey paperweight (Oh, by the way the "little man" was me :crying.
The following lines are telling the whole story.
DISCLAIMER
I am in no way responsible for what you do with your Transformer, even when you are following these (my) instructions.
There is always the risk of making it worse and this risk is completely down to you!!!
(Because it worked for me, I dont guarantee it will work for anybody else.)
Precondition:
- TF300T
- unlocked
- rooted
- CWM Recovery 5.8.2.0 Touch
- Stock ICS
What I did:
Flashing the stock rom from ASUS via CWM.
What happend:
My Transformer was stuck in a recovery loop, which means it started, the asus logo appeared on the screen and instead of starting Android, CWM started.
The Problem:
- The Transformer wasnt able to start...
- Fastboot didnt work. If I tried to get into fastboot mode the message:
"The Device is Unlocked.
Android cardhu-user bootloader <2.10 e> released by "ww_epad-9.4.3.29-20120511" A03
Checking for android ota recovery
Booting recovery kernel image"
appeard.
- ADB didnt recognized my device
- Wipe, format, etc in CWM didnt work.
So I managed to get out:
- Installing Transformer Prime drivers. Universal Naked Driver 0.7 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766220 and/ or TransformerPrimeDriver http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/TransformerPrime/drivers Choose one or take both (worked not the first time, but after a few tries Windows recognized my TF300T as ASUS Prime ADB device.)
- ADB still didnt work.
- I found & downloaded "WSG_UnBricker_TF300T_V1.0.2.zip" http://www.4shared.com/zip/7XYW-4c4/WSG_UnBricker_TF300T_V102.html to my PC(Google will help. You also can choose and try the original one from MasterZen88, but I chose the other one)
- after extracting I started the WSG_Unbricker.bat on my PC and started the ADB Shell.
- There I did the commands from DiamondBacks' Option 1a and rebooted the Transformer.
- After doing so my Transformer stucked on the ASUS Screen.
- I pressed Power till the screen went black.
- Then I hold Power + Volume Down. Then I chose Fastboot Mode. On my PC I started WSG_Unbricker.bat again. Here I started "Install Menu" and tried to install recovery, boot, system, all... Did a few restarts with my Transformer and repeated this step. After a few times I was able to start into CWM Recovery 5.5.0.4 instead of the 5.8.2.0 in the beginning.
- Transformer in CWM Recovery I opened cmd out of the WSG_UnBricker-folder and did the command: adb devices. My Transformer was RECOGNIZED!
- I downloaded cm9.1.0-tf300t.zip http://get.cm/?device=tf300t, renamed it into update.zip (after all maybe not necessary )
- put this update.zip into the same folder you started your cmd out of.
- Then I did the command: adb push update.zip /sdcard/update.zip
- After the transfer was finished I was able to flash the update.zip via CWM Recovery.
- Now I rebooted and watched my Transfromer booting into Android! :highfive:
I m not sure ir this story really helps anybody.
I m not sure if even anyone reads this lines, but maybe I could help another little boy
Ok, I don't test, because I already use TWRP, but it will be good if you could insert the links for all of your different files so that the members can use your method correctly.
Thanks.
What ROM were you on when you soft bricked? CM9/10 or a stock JB? Also, did you upgrade to the OTA JB when you first got it?

I Bricked the tf300 by flashing a JB rom and still using a ICS bootloader.
Flashing the cm-9.1 version was a good advice, now i can boot again.

Hi mate as you can get to the bootloader all is not lost.
Download the following files
The Restore to Factory via nvflash: http://www.adventcomputers.co.uk/download-select/nojs/3255
Recovery Guide: http://www.adventcomputers.co.uk/download-select/nojs/3260
Follow the guide to the letter apart from if you have the drivers already installed for ADB and Fastboot you also have the driver installed for APX.
This should get you booting again hopefully.
I have this problem but im on completely untouched device. No root no recovery all official roms.
What can i do?

Do the above my friend that is your only hope.
Doing it via NvFlash doesn't require root as your flashing via a special mode called APX.
my problem is I don't think my computer even picks it up because the USB doesn't kick in until after the TEGRA NOTEtm screen as far as I am aware.
Follow the PDF it will place the device into apx mode for flashing via nvflash. The guide shows how to install drivers to flashing the device.
Apx mode is to recover from complete bricks or issues like the op. If you can't boot in to android give apx flashing a go. Trust me on this one. I have already done this myself.

When i root my slate 7 extreme i never knew that i need to enable the usb debugging mode but somehow i am able to get root access by unlocking the boot loader and installed the cwm(which is usefull to install stock/custom rom)..heck i only know that option was actually available and hidden by default after rooting the device.
the step i followed is from this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2663449&page=2
and watching all rootjunky videos at YouTube might be helpful too..
You can unlock the bootloader, flash recovery the root that way but the aio scripts use adb and fastboot not just fastboot on its own.

Hi mate as you can get to the bootloader all is not lost.
Download the following files
The Restore to Factory via nvflash: http://www.adventcomputers.co.uk/download-select/nojs/3255
Recovery Guide: http://www.adventcomputers.co.uk/download-select/nojs/3260
Follow the guide to the letter apart from if you have the drivers already installed for ADB and Fastboot you also have the driver installed for APX.
This should get you booting again hopefully.

Hello.
Does this also work for other brands of Tegra Note, like Homecare?
Cheers,
Jaro
Doesn't work, I tried this and it just gets stuck on the Advent Vega logo instead of the TEGRA Note logo.
Ok have you tried going into the bootloader and getting into recovery?
If you get a android with a red triangle just press Vol-Up and power then clear the cache then do a factory reset and then reboot and see what happens.
If after the reboot your still in the same boats as you was before the apx flash then i think it could be due to a messed up partition somewhere (bad block on emmc) i am still looking for other ways of recovering the devices that have bricked but Nvidia has decided not to reply to my messages (Thats the mobile team support for ya!)
I retried the flash and it got to the spinning nvidia logo for a few secs, then it froze and the screen messed up and jumped around pixelly. Then shut off and started getting incredibly hot and wouldn't stop. Seems like bad manufacturing to me.

It sure looks like that as my first on did this as well. Seems its a hit and miss. My first one died due to the battery getting way to hot and killing the tablet the second one i stopped at 4.3 and i haven't had any issues. So not sure whats causing the issue out right.
Take its out of warrenty?
I hope advent will replace it even while in another country, I got it while under warranty but I'm currently in Belgium. It didn't even last 1 month before dying.
If no luck you could try Nvidia directly via their support
Posting an update. Whenever I try the fix from the advent flash it finishes, reboots and gets stuck at tegra note again.

Hi mate, OK how many times have you flashed via the APX ???
Can you get back into fastboot?
If you can try a fastboot -w and then try booting again.
Well I decided to try a full dead battery then left it to full charge)(charging screen still shows fine) then run the flash and now it still hangs, not sure how to enter fastboot with this tablet.

Press and hold Volume Up + Power Button till a black menu comes up then go to fastboot protocol.
Then issue the fastboot command!

If doing the fastboot -w hasn't fixed it the last thing you can try is the following
Download this: https://mega.co.nz/#!3R1GTAxY!ZeQRTsZdP0xVHP8fl4ImsEQK6Wc0br-8BeeWWuKhd94
Extract this to where fastboot is then type the following.
fastboot flash staging blob
fastboot flash dtb tegra114-tegratab.dtb
then reboot and see what happens!
Just in case anyone still has these issues I'm going to post how I found a way to resolve them. I had all the problems mentioned in the previous posts and more besides. The inability to apply OTA updates, the device would freeze after 5 seconds of inactivity, endless boot loops, failed recovery partitions etc etc etc.
I tried a butt load of different solutions but none worked for me. What did work is described below. Others have already mentioned that Advent has a stock rom recovery utility, however, even after flashing that my problems still remained. So I downloaded the Advent stock recovery util and documentation and modified it slightly to the latest Android release for the Tegra Note 7.
Do as follows:
1 - Go here and download both the Advent Vega Tegra Note Factory Image (4.3) util and the documentation.
2 - Extract the Advent Factory Image zip file (as described in the documentation) somewhere on your pc.
3 - Inside the extracted folder you'll see a bunch of files. The three files we're interested in are the "recovery.img", "system.img" and "boot.img". Select all three and delete them.
4 - Now download the Tegra Super Tool utility here. At the time of this post the latest version is 2.5.
5 - Extract the downloaded Supertool to a new folder on your pc.
6 - Inside the extracted folder there are another bunch of files. Again, we're only interested in three of them. You're going to rename three of the files and use them to replace the three files you deleted earlier. At present their names are "4.4.2-2.5recovery.img", "4.4.2-2.5boot.img" and "4.4.2-2.5system.img.ext4". The filenames will obviously change as time goes by, but a little common sense goes a long way at this stage. So "4.4.2-2.5recovery.img" is renamed to "recovery.img", " 4.4.2-2.5boot.img" is renamed to "boot.img" and "4.4.2-2.5system.img.ext4" is renamed to "system.img". Once you've renamed them, copy them into the folder for the Advent Vega Tegra Note Factory Image which you extracted in step 2.
7 - Now go and read the documentation for the Advent Vega Tegra Note Factory Image util. Just take your time and follow it to the letter. It'll tell you how to put your Tegra Note 7 into it's APX mode, install windows drivers for it and begin the recovery of your device. It's mostly an automated procedure and fairly simple to follow as long as you follow the documentation.
This method brought my Tegra Note 7 back when it had several of the problems mentioned earlier in this thread, all at the same time.
Hope it helps someone.
