{DISCUSSION}Xperia Z back glass coming unglued - Xperia Z General

So I've had my Xperia Z for about 2 months now and it has endured water tests, and stress test (software wise). I'm completely satisfied with the results. However I was cleaning my phone with my microfiber cloth and noticed something odd when cleaning. As I look up at the top left of the device I see that there is a slight bulge or lift of the device I am wondering if this was after my long photography session I did with it as it heated up quite a bit and the Snapdragon S4 is around the same area. I'd like to know if anyone came across this lift / bulge and had any issues with it / got it back down because the uneven-ness bothers me mentally, I have still washed my phone however haven't fully submerged it since I've noticed bulge. I'll post some pictures on what I'm talking about, I figured someone here can help me out with this for I won't be close to a Sony Service Center to have a look at my device until July.

Your backplate is definitely loose. If I were you, I wouldn't submerge it anymore because I think it isn't waterproof anymore. Looks like the glue melted while you were heavy using your Z and caused the backplate to lift. You should definitely bring your device in for repair or replacement.

Try heat it up again at that point e.g. with an hairdryer and then press it for a time while it cools down again. Maybe it works.

Take it back.
If you try to repair it, and do more damage then your warranty is gone..

I think that is a really bad idea.

Yeah! I guess they're right. That's the problem of being an engineer...
Let the good guys at Sony do the repair.
P. S. In any case you can see what they will do at Sony herehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNrtamZuf7E.

Hmmm I guess I'll wait until I go back up to get it repaired hopefully they can just do this easy fix on site, I can do it myself but I still have warranty so I might as well let them do it I just hope they do it on site and give it back to me the same day or the day after... from what I'm thinking it just needs a reheat to activate the adhesive agent and placing back down on it.

I will, sigh I wish this country had a Sony support store I have to wait so long just to get it checked out. It's making me wonder if this is why they made the ZR... hmm.

Is this something with the white Xperia Z? I have it as well, noticed it about 2 weeks ago.
I saw another person's thread about his white Xperia Z having a lift on the back top left of the phone as well.

Same problem on my XPZ - top left corner near camera lens.

Mine is the xperia Z black c6603 I really think it's the heating of the processor and not entirely sure if it compromises the waterproofing because I have washed it a bit to clean it (not dunk it) and I don't have any problems but I'll still be careful with it until we get some confirmation from Sony

Oh, wow. I didn't realize that it was the reflection that made it look like white. Anyway, I saw a couple of people that have this problem already and all of theirs are white

[Q] Shake your Xperia Play

Hey Folks
As a nooby I must admit I'm quite intimidated by the video I was subjected to at registration but I've worked up the courage to start up a new thread
My Xperia play has an audible rattle when it is shook even lightly.I'm trying to firgure out what this is as it does not happen to my brothers.Another thing is that there is no rattle when the phone is open in controller mode but only when it is closed.
I'm wondering if this is normal with x amount of phones or whether or not its dodgy. It must be something to do with the hinges as far as I can see because it does not make a sound when it is open.Any response would be greatly appreciated
I've seen a thread similar to this on these forums as I've been lurking for a while.I'm just wondering how common if at all common is this?
If I shake mine up&down fast enough, it makes a small rattle. Doesn't seem harmful, and my phone's been working perfectly for months.
Gave mine a little shake up and down and it rattles a little. My phone is fine. Never noticed because I never shaked it before.
Sent from my R800x using XDA App
Yep, mine rattles when the gamepad is closed, but doesn't when it's open. It sounded like it could be the buttons but I shook it while holding different variations (of buttons) but it still rattles. It must be something inside that becomes taut when you open the gamepad.
Out of interest, why were you shaking your phone?
Sent from my R800i using XDA App
Also, I don't have to shake it much, and it rattles when shook in any direction, more so when up and down though.
Sent from my R800i using XDA App
Has anybody else noticed that, whilst typing, the two halves of the phone sometimes hit against each other?
Hey guys thanks for the replies.
I always get all ocd with my new gadgets .I wasn't sure if this was a widespread minor annoyance or a defected handset.I got a flashlight widget which requires a shake to switch on and off so that's how I discovered it.
To milkyJoe.that problem drove me absolutely insane so I had to come up with a solution.i'll post it tomorrow when i've more time pal

there was a thread about this a while back and i think that they found out the reason it does this is because of a cable or a loose piece of plastic in all xperia plays. it's perfectly normal and nothing is wrong.

Whats more important is the fact that the slide mechanism scratches the deck pad near the select button after repeated open and close
It's a manufacturing defect and I've seen it twice on 2 different models of Xperia
So I know it's not a coincidence.
My newest one has a rubber protector over it I made to stop the scratching and the "jiggle" the OP is talking about

Man that is genius! I should look into that, although I haven't really gotten any scratches from the slider yet and I've had it since June.
I took it apart thoroughly and there are several loose parts inside, but I'm pretty sure it's the power/lock button. The flat cable that slides is not going to make a sound like that and the headphone jack and front-camera didn't seem nearly as problematic.

On my third one and I just put clear tape over it. My first one didn't show wear nearly as fast. I disassembled the second and saw that the Teflon (or whatever it is) dome nub/button was kinda creased and had collected contamination, though the damage was already visible while the phone was otherwise pristine and new (hardly even a speck of pocket lint!). It wipes right off and, honestly, I think it was the metallic paint that it was scrubbing off and not externally acquired dirt or dust. My second one also quickly developed a scratch on the underside of the top piece from a screw on the bottom that was screwed in too far and protruding. This was before I took it apart, so I am not to blame!

Melted corner

Hi guys and girls.
I'm familiar with the crack with the sensor. I have it too...
But know I have something what I didn't hear or read before. My right down corner is melted. (I'm now on vacation in Berlin but when I'm home I'll will post some pics).
Does somebody else have that too? I HAD my phone in a case from noreva. But I truly can't believe that my phone can get that hot that its melting...
And who is to blame? Sony or noreva?
I'd say it was the case.
Have fun in Berlin and post some pics when you're back

Hi guys me again. I'm back from my quick vacation. I'm glad that i'm not the only person who had this. Its indeed strange because I can't remember when its getting hot in that place. WHEN my phone is getting hot, it is normally around the camera.

Not only Backglass unglues.

I've been using my Xperia Z with good care, used it to do alot of high-end gaming and the phone really gets hot, but one thing I love to do is listen to music, I don't use a Bluetooth connection or anything and it has apparently put straint on the phone panels.
I noticed this earlier today while plugging in my headphones, like normal.

Seriously buddy OMG...i had that top left panel unglue issue on my XZ...but this is seriously bad....
Go to Sony Service. I've read on another forum (cant' remember where) that a guy got his phone replaced for something like that.
When I read this I had to see how bad mine was since my backglass is unglued. Pulled off the headphone flap en lifted that other part up and tadaa, same issue. When I did it it made some noise like the glue fell apart.
I think you better don't try it, since it seemed to be good until I tried, lol. Gotta get my backglass repaired anyway so I'll tell them about this problem also. I hope they swap it for a new one haha.

I haven't used any chemical substances at all. I've used my phone like you should.
This is just weak glue, due to phone getting very warm, and while I listen to music the flap rests on the panel, which makes it open.
Why would anyone use chlorine on their phone

If it doesn't come up by itself don't try force it people. Sticking you fingernail under it will make it come off really easy. Doesn't happen just by headphone port. Happens by micro SD port to where the charging dock connectors are.

Just a reminder that the cheap replacement rear panels for not have the nfc antenna attached. You have to remove this off your old panel and attach to the new one which is tricky.

Z5 compact build quality

Can someone else with a Z5 compact please check for a creaking sound at the top of the phone, hold the phone at both sides and twist gently, do you have a creak? Hadn't noticed in general use but during a phonecall I did and it is obviously an annoying sound if you're on a call. Thanks
Not sure if I understand correctly. Why would you twist your phone while you are on call? You would be holding your phone with a hand, won't you?
Sent from my D5803 using Tapatalk
I have my finger in the middle of the phone at the top and a press on back makes it creak too but the easiest way is to twist the top
I just tried it on mine and only time I heard a slight sound was when I hold the phone at both ends and twisted it. And only a very slight sound, nothing I would hear during a phone call (and not that I would bend my phone like that, ever). Pressing my finger to the back of the phone did not make any sound I could hear.
Why don't you go to the store and try it? They said they should arrive today when I was there yesterday (I got mine a day early).
Mine is also a little bit squeaking during the 'twisting test' but it's nothing comparing to Samsung Galaxy S3. The Samsung Galaxy S3 mini is also louder. The phone feels firm and solid, but not as metal covered devices like Samsung A5.

Before you ever tell us these lies it might be good if you have some kind of link to back up your made up awnsers.
If a users says its plastic then why come in here saying "According to Sony its not plastic" its just stupid.

Easy man, as you saw, I mention that it is according to Sony. I visited Sony Centre last week and salesman clearly stated its painted metal. For now I believe him unless some user test it (by test I mean scratch it or smth) and findout this is not true.

Think he or you got it mixed up the the normal Z5 because that one is painted metal yes but just like this owner (me) tells you its plastic
And all reviews and hand-ons I have read which mention its material at all also state the frame is plastic. I.e.
While the Z5 comes in sleek, aluminum frame, the Z5 Compact arrives in a cheaper-feeling plastic shell with a frosted glass rear.

I've read not a single one which states it is metal. As RiTCHiE007 said, he or you likely mixed up the Z5 Compact and the Z5.
I just received my Z5 compact from Amazon.it (E5823 without power supply, just an USB cord but at lower price: 507€).
Didn't have time to try it. But its a Rev 3 device. I'll report if I find any issues later.

I have the slight squeaking sound if I press the back a bit above middle. Black rev 2 device.
