[Q] Is there any way to Change general system Font Size? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I dont like big fonts and with GS4 screen is much easier to see small font sizes.
I tried to change the general font size using "Big Font" and "Font Size Setter" from google play, but these apps don´t work on JB 4.2 or newer versions.
I also tried with "Room Toolbox" but it works to change the font type, it´s useless to change the font size.
Is there any other way to change the font size that I should try?
Thanks.

"Tiny" option is what i´ve been using so far but It is not small enough, with the apps I mentioned before it´s possible to make the font even smaller, that´s what i´m looking for.

No man, the screen makes them look bigger, using Font Size Setter app I always had configured 75% font size on my Galaxy S2. Shame that it´s not working on JB 4.2.

[Q] Galaxy S 4 text size

Is the text/font size larger than S 3?
I have the Xperia S. The system font can be made larger but I find the text size in apps (like Facebook etc) is still quite small (for my aging eyes).
Thanks.
This Thread must be in Q/A Forum buddy. BTW As it has Full HD screen then it must have smaller but better fonts.

Wrong thread... but there is an option in my s3 that allows you to change the font size from small to big.. I dont see why that wont be there in the s4..
.....
Thank you and sorry.
It's been a while since I posted in XDA. I realize immediately after I posted, I clicked the "Edit/Delete" button but can't actually find the 'delete' link.

Fonts?

I love the idea of changing the system fonts without root, but the included fonts aren't very good. Has anyone found any updated font packs that work yet?
Handel Gothic works. great font imo

Yea I found the font, I wanted to se it on the Note so I can get an idea of scale. I don't want a font that's huge and clunky looking. I wanted a smaller, clean style. This font looks excellent as far as the lettering goes
try corporate rounded font.

I used MyFont from playstore (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xinmei365.font&hl=en)
and I used "Kelly Slab" Font in it (http://www.google.com/fonts/specimen/Kelly+Slab)
It looks great in my device and I some how got addicted to it... I have no plans of changing it any time soon
Cheers!

Post your Nexus 5x DPI setting

For those not in the know, DPI setting can be changed on Android devices so that you can basically fit more on the screen. I must warn you that sometimes some apps might not show up in play store as your device is treated like a tablet (for example) - although I personally never had a problem resulting from this.
To change it you need to edit ro.sf.lcd_density=420 line in the build.prop file that is located in the system folder. As long as you can get to that file you can use any text editor to change the line
The default is 420, I changed it to 320 and you can see the results in the attached screes shot. Don't forget to restart the phone for changes to take effect.
Oh you live dangerously.
Mine is at 360 and it's the best for me .
For other people; you can also change it without having to root by using adb.
Holy crap do you guys have Superman vision? I'm in my 20's and I almost had to squint for the 420 density lol.
Mine is currently set to 480, the default for the G2 which has the same physical dimensions for the LCD.

You made yours BIGGER? Oh man that's crazy. Making the don't bigger wasn't working out for you?
I get "could not save file" tried with ES and build Prop editor, the file has r/w enabled to.

Try using Root Explorer. I've run into issues using anything other than that for things like this.
I'm just glad Google added official support for 420. Looks great with all apps.
480

I use 320 on my N5x as well. I accidentally set it to 220 since that was what I used on my N4 and I didn't realize the resolution was different. I would say 220 is at the bottom end of what I would consider to be usable. It basically fits what would normally be on a 8" tablet on a 5" phone.

Agreed. At 420dpi I have no desire to make it smaller.
I settled on 440 and changed font size to large. 480 made the status bar too big imo. Some of my older apps have too tiny text for my aging 40+ year old eyes :sly:
420pi seems to be pretty solid for me, I truly wouldn't want it any smaller or larger than what it is at.
I use Nova Launcher to set icon size to 145% and system settings to set font size to large. Looks just right to me. Out of the box both icons and font sizer were too small and uncomfortable. Years ago I was an iPhone user and I'm sure I still have some of the DNA, lol. I fill my homescreens with icons - hate wasted space.

I also think 440 is the best size. I'll probably need to resize all of my ROMs I flash. But it's not too much or too little.
I don't want to root my phone, but I definitely want to change my DPI a little

You don't have to root to change dpi. I used adb. There are a lot of guides out there. It's very simple imo. Google "how to change dpi without root" good luck!

Forgot all about that method. Using it now good sir
Does the build.prop method make all apps behave properly? I tried using the adb method, but I had a few apps which didn't handle it properly (not the least of which was the Play store).
440. That matches roughly to the same estate as Galaxy S4 - just a tad bigger (as I expected when upgraded 5.0" to 5.2")
I was psyched when my Nexus 5X arrived and I saw that the stock DPI was 420. For the past two years, I've been changing the DPI on my Nexus 5 from 480 to 420...

Samsung Experience customization

Change the grid size to use more icons. That should shrink all of them.
some themes also have a smaller icon footprint.

U have to enable developer mode. If u dont know how. Is setting-about phone - software information -
Build number. Now click build number 7 or 8 times and a new setting will enable in setting call "developer mode" will be the last one afte about phone.
Now in Deleloper mode. Scroll down to -minimum width- if u are in qhd+ resolution. U will probably be in 410 dpi. From there u can change dpi. Now the higher u set it the smaller everything will get. If u go up to 450. Font will be small. Just go to font and increase font size while everything stay small. Dont set it more than 452 dpi cause it will break samsung keyboard and touchwiz icon will look like ant. Just 450 or below. If u are using other launchers and keyboard then any dpi will be good
Thanks my friend, everything works great.
I'm on QHD resolution and I don't even have to make the font bigger. It's very good in 450dpi.

It'll be 360 mate.
Anything beyond that just looks mental. Leave your Font and size on default
Currently I'm on 384 just feels a little better.
Most people are using over 400
If it's just the lettering you want to change, just alter the font size in display.

Thanks for the quick reply, but for me its huge. Even on small size. Im on 480, but in some games the letters are bit "ghosty" or i dont know.
I dont remember how was on 10, but i think not like this.

Ahh you said smallest width I figured lowest number..I think if you reduce the size of text and display in display settings coupled with a higher number on dpi you'll find your sweet spot.
Just be sure that the clock and lock screen work okay with it and that it survives a reboot.
384 is spot on for me. 480 is too small.
i dropepd it to 561 and it seems tiny
It is 432
