It is useless on our small display...
Maybe possibility of making it smaller? Like on PA?

Drop it into the system/app directory and edit the permissions of the apk to match the permissions of the other apk's in that directory. Then reboot.

[Q] Editing System Files

*N00B Alert*
I just downloaded this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=769026
I'm trying to change the DPI back to 240. The guide seems easy enough; use a text editor and change the value in the file.
However the problem is that I can't seem to save the changes I have made. Read Only?
I'm new to these things so I'm problem doing something fundamentally stupid. The rom is already rooted I think.
BTW in b4 "lolololoool use search tool on forum". I already have, but my android lingo isn't good so I'm probably searching for the wrong thing.
Using "File Manager" and "Text Edit" apps to find and edit the file respectively.
Thanks

maybe File Expert or Astro
ES File Explorer (free) will let you mount system directories, you have to enable it in settings.

App name

I like customize rom in my way. i changed app icons but now i want to change app names. please someone guide me for this which file to be edited.
Try APK Edit
With this tool you can change every text that appears in that app and even add new languages...
For me it was also quite useful and it's not very complicated. Only open the APK (You must have the apk on your computer) and edit it

[Solved] How to tweak the proximity sensor?

Im on stock froyo and rooted.
I was using Kirillos roms before and the proximity sensor was working fine. Now with the stock rom it works, but when i make a call, and when i finish the call the screen stays off for a 3-4 seconds and i cant end the call coz i dont see anything on the screen. Is there some file that i can modify so the sensor is more responsive or to change some time values?

Open /system/build.prop via any root explorer in your galaxy 3, search for mot.proximity.delay and change its value to 150 so it should look like this:
mot.proximity.delay=150
save and reboot. Enjoy!

Just add that line to the end of build.prop.
And you must leave last line of build.prop empty.

I'm doing something wrong, or this just doesnt work for me.. I added the line at the end of the file, one line empty, and its still the same. I must wait for the other side to hung up coz my screen remains black. Its very annoying.
I thing i must flash some custom rom with the tweaks included. But on the custom roms the remote control apps like logmein and teamviewer dont work(kirillios).
Here is the build.prop in the attachment so you can see am i doing it right?
I did it!
With the help of rkoby13 So big thanks to him. rkoby13's words:
just try to extract build.prop from one of my rom version....i think v 2.5 will be the best and open build.prop and then copy Hercolubus tweaks to your build.prop.....set permissions and reboot....now it should be all fine..

[Theme Creating] How to edit third party apps using EMUI themes?

I found EMUI themes on the internet which changed the design of various third party apps like f.e. WhatsApp. So I know, I could just take the theme, and edit the com.whatsapp file in it, but there are not all design elements of the app included. So my question: How can I find out the name of every design element and file name to change the design of every part of each app?
This is huge process i think
I'd just need the name of the elements for this xml file and the rest of the file structure where the media files for icons are (with their name). How could other people do it then? Isn't there a way to easily find that out? ?
I guess you have to decompile the apps in question and look at their source code for the correct names for elements. Probably a bit time consuming process yes. But that's probably how they all do it.
Thanks, I decompiled WhatsApp.apk and am now trying to understand how this whole thing works... I still don't understand everything especially because of the theme.xml file which obviously only exists in the theme, but not in the decompiled WhatsApp.apk. But I'm going to try to find out everything by try and error

Hmm there isn't explained how editing of any app works, only some app icons, wallpaper and lockscreen.

Does anyone know how to edit the chat bubbles in Whatsapp using the EMUI themes? I already tried to enter another color inside the theme.xml:
<color name="bubble_color_outgoing">#ffd29bd7</color>
And I also tried to edit those files (see attachment) inside /res/drawable-hdpi-v4/, /res/drawable-xhdpi-v4/ and /res/drawable-xxhdpi-v4/.
Nothing changed. Is the EMUI theming engine unable to edit those chat bubbles or is there another file that I missed?
