Battery drain can be caused by many reasons. Download Better Battery Stats from the play store and find out more information.
It's possible something on your phone prevents it from going into deep sleep.

An alternative to BBS is Wakelock Detect. BTW, poor signal reception causes Cell Standby to suck out a lot of juice. Could you post a screenshot of your battery in settings?

What kind of apps do you have?? Like apps that you think might drain some battery. Also use betterbatterystat app to monitor what's waking your device.

With stock, around 2 hours of screen on time is typical. You can prolong the battery life by disable Google Now, location service, email sync, Playstore auto update, etc. Check your battery stats (try better battery stats from the store) to see if any third-party apps drain your battery.
The better way to do it is to unlock bootloader, root your phone then flash a custom kernel. I recommend franco.Kernel. 3-4 hours of screen on time is typical with franco.

Might as well flash a custom ROM with it if you're going to use a custom kernel IMO. When a new OTA, OP will have problems updating to it because he is using stock + custom kernel + custom recovery.
Here is how to fix your battery problem.
1. Turn off location access in Google Maps settings.
2. Wait about a week for the battery to go through its charge cycle 6-10 times. Let it get as low as possible without the battery dying (this is really bad) and be sure to let the battery sit at 100% for atleast a half hour or so when fully charged.
Each day you will see your battery life increase and when done, you should be getting around 5 hours screen on time.
Well dramatic change in battery life as displayed below. Now after having a read in several topics it seems like a fix is to have the wifi on. How strange as this goes against the ethos of all previous smartphones i have owned i.e. wifi on drains battery. I have uninstalled a few apps and also switched of location access, so to be sure that the fix is wifi related i will switch wifi off the next time i do a full charge and see how that behaves. By the way android os is way down in battery consumption now.

Massive battery issues

Hello folks.
I'm currently on Aokp 4.2.2 unofficial with Francos r90 Kernel, bootloader and Radio are both updated. I'm suffering from massive battery draining. I guess something isnt letting my CPU sleep properly, as i always get messages like "100% awake while screen off" from battery stats plus. I'm just getting up to 2 hours screen on time, and battery is falling by about ~7% / hour With normal usage (whatsapp, News, xda) and like 15 Minuten screen on time in that hour. Also, see the attached Images. I sometimes have wakelocks by audioOut_2 and as you can See, maps is using more battery than the Display itself.
On an additional Note, GPS is always off, im using Taster to locate, but with cell near only.
Would be very Kind to help me out of this issues, thank you a bunch!

Turn off Location Services for a little bit to see if that helps.
You should try a program like autostarts, and don't allow things to run unless explicitly started by yourself. This way it'll help identify if there is an misbehaving program.
I saw you were using franco r90 which could be an issue. Try going back to the last stable
I think you will like this application.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...GwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5vYXNpc2ZlbmcuZ3JlZW5pZnkiXQ..
This simple application will make your annoying applications to go to sleep. Therefore your phone can finally go to sleep like it should when it's not in use. I see that Google maps seems to be the culprit in your battery drain. You can use titanium backup and delete it and install it back again from the play store. After that you can use the application that I've given you and force it to go tot sleep.
Here's the forum for the application:

I reinstalled maps, greenified maps and facebook. Updated to Franco 92. Already getting better results with greenified maps, but i get following wakelocks:
"pm8921_eoc", "msm_otg" and AudioOut_2 and still notifications from bbs: 100% awake.
Apps running are: astrid, avast, Francos updater, Rom toolbox, Tasker

Does anyone have some knowledge about How to identify why Android OS is consuming so much battery Life? While screen off some process is waking up the Device, up to 1.5 GHz.

Coming from the iphone 4, good battery life is the most important thing i miss. I need a rock solid reliable phone or else would have started to mess around a read about Kernels to see how they may help with better battery life. My iPhone would last me 3-4 days of general use. To me General use is very light use..! With nexus it lasts max 1-2 days but more importantly i need to be concious what the battery level is. With th eiphone i never really bothered as i knoew i would get at least 2 days if not more.

Still got audioOut_2 wakelock. Except that onr, everything is fine After Kernel update, greenifying and disabling Autostarts

Liquidsmooth and franco battery problem

Hi there. I have my nexus 4 for about a week. It was bought rooted second hand. I flashed liquid smooth and faux at start and battery life was medium. About 15 hours. But I want more battery life. So I flashed liquid smooth and FRANCO kernel which is supposed to increase my battery life but it only lasted 14 hours on the first cycle. I will wait for 3-4 cycles more to check it.
Are there any special settings for Franco kernel to work better? Please help because it is a great phone but battery is essential.

Anyone?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
The rom and the kernel is not the cause for your battery loss. The kernel's recommended settings are ideal for battery life. It's either your apps or the amount of wakelocks draining your power. Rogue apps that are constantly awake when they shouldn't be. download wakelock detector or better battery stats and find the cause.

Ouch, that's terrible battery life. I'd say it's definitely a program causing it, I don't think any rom or kernel could be that bad.
Never mind I moved to paranoid android ROM and is more battery friendly. Please lock the topic.

Battery horrible

Hey guys I am running the latest Paranoid Android with Francos latest kernel and my battery life is horrid.
If I get one hour of screen on time I am lucky. I am using custom color collaboration with the kernel and I am curious if this is playing a role.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Colors on the Nexus 4 doesn't affect battery life.
Most likely it's your apps that are draining your battery life. Turn off services like Bluetooth and GPS and WiFi.
Install wake lock detector to see what apps are eating your battery juice. Low signal or bad service can affect battery life as well.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
How's your reception? Bad signal is a huge factor
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Try using Greenify. Might help a bit.
why dont you use an older kernel and see, r111 was the best kernel i got with battery life.
I had nothing but problems with Franco kernel. My phone wouldn't charge unless it was on AC for one.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Getting 3.5 to 4.5 hrs of sot on Franco and illusion, a lil more sot time if I'm on WiFi.
Apps sometimes play a big role in battery depletion as well as a horrible signal.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
try using joker kernel if anything other than franco
I'm getting really sucky battery life on the MIUI 5 rom latest as of 2/7/13. Anyone else getting bad battery life on this? I've had a look at betterbatterystats and it's not really listing anything as keeping the phone awake. Went from 95% to 75% in 4 hours (I know that doesn't sound so bad but I wasn't doing anything with the phone, just had a couple of messengers on it - Trillian and Steam)
You need to figure out what is keeping your phone awake. On Franco kernel I have very little drain when just using messenger etc. I would think you have a rogue app or something causing issues.

[Q] Nexus 4 Battery Drain

Recently i noticed that my phone's battery begin drained at night during sleep like about 20% without any use.
i did turn off location services, Wi-Fi, GPS. I don't know what could be the problem for the battery to be drained.
Is there a way to check it?
Use BetterBatteryStats to find the issue. Do you use s2w or touch control? They drain some battery too

:silly:
I checked battery in Settings and it shows 41% Phone idle and 26% Cell standby.
So i don't think Google Services is the problem here...
