[Q] Micro Sim Problems - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

(See Attachment)
My Nexus 4 is arriving tomorrow and I was about to start cutting down my SIM card for usage with my LG Nexus 4 but I instantly got worried about my current normal sized card. Is the gold part to small? Would it be safe to cut it down with the template or will i have to something special? I've cut down sims before for my old apple products and my cards gold part were always bigger.

FWIW, I would try to obtain a new SIM from the carrier first. N4's have been known to have issues with cut SIM cards (many posts about it here).
As a last resort (like some MVNO's) it should work (use a file to smooth the edges), but be prepared to obtain a replacement SIM if it gives you issues.

Ask them the cost first, they actually hit me $30 for mine even though I have been using the same one since 2003, and have been a customer since Voice Stream days. Their own web site sells them for $10 max, which if I had known at the time......

You can go into any mobile shop and they should provide a micro SIM cutting tool. They will cut your SIM there and then and it should also be for free, well it is here in the UK.

How long did it take for your nexus to arrive?

They are slapping me with a $20 fee but since I don't have the time to wait for it to ship since my nexus 4 is arriving today I can't really complain...

It's supposedly arriving today but I'm not holding my breath. I ordered it last Wednesday and since the website said 1-2 day delivery I assumed it would arrive Friday or Saturday but I got a email on Saturday from google telling me that it would arrive on Monday. I guess we will see

To those people who purchased the Note from 1saleaday.com

Just to let you know, some people have said 1saleaday.com was a shady dealer, but just got a tracking number from them and my Note is shipped out! I hope it comes in pristine new condition. Please post here if it has shipped out for you and what condition it is in when you receive it. At least they shipped mine out on day 5 of their usual 5 business days.
I ordered a bluetooth from them and it took 5 e-mails, a complaint with the bbb, and a paypal claim to get a tracking number. Then i got it, a month later, in a plastic bag and the bluetooth has refurbished stamped on it. This was about 6 months ago so i hope that they cleaned up their act. Sounds like they did, but you have to watch and make sure that they dont send you a refurb.
Just got my ups tracking number for my white gnote today after a full week. I was starting to get worried. How much did you grab yours for and what color?

I'm not sure if you're joking or not but he meant sick in a good way.
Is this for the white galaxy note that was $585? I canceled my order because they were taking too long, "processing" for a whole week.
I re-ordered through ebay's daily deal at $550 for the black sold by 1saleaday. I got a tracking number after two days, and initially was suppose to receive the package by 3/29, now I checked it again it's rescheduled to 4/2. What a bummer.
I will never order anything sold by 1saleaday.com.

Well they did say on their website 5 business days and up to 10 business days in some cases for an order to be shipped. If you have read their FAQs, you would have known that. I read all their FAQs and read all their reviews on the web before I bought from them. 5 business days usually translates to a whole week. When I got my shipping confirmation, it was on the 5th business day, in other words exactly 1 week from the day I ordered it (ordered Thursday and shipped Thursday the following week).
I probably wouldn't order anything refurbed from them, but if it's brand new and sealed, then I usually do. This was the 2nd time I have ordered from them, the first time was for micro usb car chargers for $1/each and all 5 I ordered came in between 2 and 3 weeks (shipped out also on the 5th business day as well). Their shipping is slow and they send by UPS ground from Florida (and I live in California), but at least they get to me. In fact I just ordered a few 2GB SD cards from them tonight since I have an old Nikon D50 DSLR that only uses SD (not SDHC) cards, so 3 more SD cards should last me a few more years with my trusty 7 year old Nikon D50.
As far as you receiving the package a few days late, blame the shipper. If 1saleaday.com sent out your package after the 2nd day (picked up by USPS), then it is not their fault, it's the shipper's fault.

I've bought a few things from 1saleaday. Everything has always been good with them. I had to do one return and it was not an issue. My only complaint is that they are so slow in getting the product out the door. Usually takes a full week before it ships. Since they are in Florida(I think) and I'm in California, it takes two weeks before I get the product.
I got mine from the Monkey deal that was $20 more expensive about 2 months back.
Just received my Note today (WOOHOO!). Just checked the CSC code and it says TPA, which I assume is Panama (had some hints because the manuals and box and when I turned on my phone, the language was Spanish). Good thing is it has Kernel N7000UBKK2 which is a rootable kernel. Off to root the sucker now!

I use a safety pin. Works great.
you can use a paper clip.
Guys, iPhone sim ejectors and paper clips DO NOT Work with the Nexus 4...
Paper clip worked fine for me.
Needle and safety pin should also work fine.
All depends on the width of whatever you're trying to push into it. The paperclips I had on hand were too fat, worked great on the iP4S but didn't work on the N4.

Why doesn't LG sell it as accessories.. Plus they made it so small.

In the end I made my own sim tray ejector.
Items needed
1 x iPhone sim ejector
1 x small piece of abrasive paper
Just file the sim ejector tip on the paper on all direction to ensure that it is "round".
Test to ensure that the tip fits in the nexus 4 hole.
This self made ejector is easier to use than the original provided by LG.

Haha, It's not like I wanted to lose it, I go to Places that are Camera phone sensitive, thus needed to swap out the sim card to a
"not so smart" phone, during the transition, it just got lost.. at least now i have the bigger self made version and chained it to my
key chain.
Well If it goes missing again, I have my solution now.

+1 I've used the same method as well, originally I thought it'll work out of the box.
I used 500 Grid metal sand paper... Now I have 3 as spares and 1 is always with me inside the wallet.... Kept the original in the box
I used a staple once, really hard because it's flimsy... But it worked.

TBH, I was personally surprised he just gave it away. But yeah, I usually use a safety pin or a threading needle usually, as I have with the iPhone. Caution with either, since the needle might end up getting bent as it's not that strong, so don't do it with something important.

[Q] unlocked-mobiles.com - Samsung Galaxy S4

Has anyone bought from this site before http://www.unlocked-mobiles.com/
If so, what was your experience,
The Galaxy S4 is very cheap on this site http://www.unlocked-mobiles.com/sim-free-mobile-phones/samsung-galaxy-s4-sim-free-p-84354.html
I was thinking of getting it, reading some reviews the only problems customers have come across is after sales support, if the phone has a fault or is damaged in some way unlocked-mobiles are hard to deal with (apparently).

I've pre ordered mine with them. They have taken payment already, which some people don't like. I'm not bothered as I've paid by credit card. They seem legit and are registered with company's house under ulm.com. No sign of going bust or scammers. They have been around a while too.
The price they are charging appears to be the same as the "leaked" rrp price that was reported several days ago, a few weeks after they first listed at that price. Seems like everyone else are just greedy gits

Eh, I don't think they're all that good as a company to be honest, my USB port died on my GS2 after 13 months, I emailed to ask about the warranty and they told me even though they advertise that it comes with a 2 year warranty, it's really only 1 year, and anything after that I'd have to prove Samsung was at fault and that it wasn't due to wear and tear.
Their site is hosted by "uk-cheapest.co.uk" and the registrant for their domain name has a Yahoo! e-mail address. They're certainly no Clove or Handtec.

To be fair that's down to Samsung. It's their discretion on warranty cover. Although you could go down the legal route when goods don't last a reasonable amount of time for the price paid, which the supplier is responsible for.
I'm not sure many companies would help after more than a month or 2 without a push.
Even Game required a snotty letter (pointing out consumer law rights) before they agreed to fix an xbox 360 past its warranty period.

Careful with these guys - they charge a 15% restocking fee if you change your mind - check their T&Cs. You get a shock if you return the item.
I know it won't be an issue for most as you'll want to keep hold of your S4s but worth thinking about of your not sure as it's a huge restock cost.

Did I get lucky or did this happen to everyone?

So I got a sprint lg g4, and I registered for the free battery and 32gb sd card, so I waited a while and hadn't received a confirmation email, so I sent lg an email asking about a status update, two days later I got the extra battery, charging cradle, and sd card, about a week after I received it I get an email from lg telling me the items shipped...I thought nothing of it, so today I check my mail, and I got another battery, charging cradle, and 32 gb sd, did this happen to anyone else?
I believe somebody else accidentally received 2 also. They posted in one of the promo threads. 2 spare batteries is awesome. Gone all day? Take 2 full batteries......

That happened to me with the G3 battery promo in a somewhat different manner. The tracking for mine showed delivered, but no item in my mailbox, nor did the mail carrier have any knowledge of it. I waited a couple of weeks and then emailed LG, they sent a replacement with a new tracking number that arrived less than a week later. 2 weeks after I received the replacement, the original showed up in my mailbox even though it said it had been delivered 3 weeks prior.
Applied once and received 2 batteries and SD cards

I received my first promo pack of battery, charger, and SD card 6 days after purchasing and registering(June 21st purchase)
I got a second promo package in the mail on 7/9. Only registered once. Did get two emails about the package being shipped.
I am yet to receive the 128gb SD card through T-Mobile promotion.... But I did get an email confirming it was on the way(7/7)
Somebody at LG is going to get let go lol

FYI: OP3T uses a nano-sim

FYI for those with phones on order.. you will need a nano-sim. Presumably something you can take care of ahead of time (and use the shim to size back up to a micro-sim, or whatever)
and yes, you can cut them down by hand, but some won't want to do that.
Are their any recent devices that don't use a nano sim?

not sure what your definition is for "recent'... the G3 was 2 years old, but still a pretty decent phone (and tremendous value at current prices)

Sure.. not complaining about the sim size. I honestly thought I was already using the smallest sized SIM in my G3. The 2 other folks I know who are purchasing also will need to change/cut their SIM, so I figured this might be useful info for upcoming buyers.
I was too lazy to go to the ATT store before my delivery came in so I just followed this guide:
http://htc-one.wonderhowto.com/how-to/convert-micro-sim-card-fit-nano-slot-your-htc-one-m8-0154010/
*** MAKE SURE YOU MEASURE THE ONE INCH MARKER AT THE BOTTOM BEFORE YOU CUT! ***
it's a bit tricky to print at 100% but a few tries later it worked. I used a nail file to get the sides to fit in after cutting.
