[Q] aaaargh..... ext TPLink usb wifi dongle - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all, I have a usb external wifi dongle for my N7 that I can bring up in a terminal and it works ok, but I cannot get any android aps to 'see' it , If I launch an ap it only offers the std. internal wifi chip (wlan0) for connection and not wlan1. Can anyone help with some pointers how/were I can mod to allow aps to use ext usb wifi wlan1 ?

Thanks for the reply, (should I delete the duplicate post?)
My rom is 4.2.1, kernel is 3.1.10-ZeroNin-32g-droid-g22b4fcd-dirt ([email protected] #7) build JOP40D, its the pwnpad community edition image from http://sourceforge.net/projects/pwnpad/files/. I want the android and ubuntu tools to both use the external wifi dongle not just the ubuntu command line software. Any advice/pointers/ideas gratefully rec'd.

Take a look at this kernel by m4xxed0ut. Seems to be working for other tp link users. Good luck!

Tether Tattoo under Linux

Hi,
Anyone successfully tether Tattoo under Linux ?
Through Bluetooth, USB cable ... just one will be good for me.
Regards
KC
Tethering works great using the HTC WWE ROMs.
Go to Wireless controls and select Mobile network sharing.
Then connect via USB cable; Linux recognizes the device
as usb0 and gets assigned IP address 192.168.100.100.
NB: this messages was sent using tethering!

Thanks for reply. What did you mean "HTC WWE ROMs" ?
Does it compatible with Tattoo ?
And could you please tell me which Linux distribution you are
using.
Thanks a lot.

Mmm... I tested on CentOS 5.4 and it doesn't work. CentOS 5.4 see HTC Tattoo as usb-storage.

You need to enable "Mobile network sharing" found at the end of "Wireless controls". I have software version 1.67.405.6.
When connecting the USB, a small pop up window asks you to select whether you want it to act as a USB storage device or a networking device.

Is there anyone succeeded? Share your experience here, please ^^
Why not use a Mifi or a Huawei E5830?
Or if you have already an Android 2.2 Phone, use Wifi Tethering?
Hello
My experience :
First : same problem : my tablet don't want to connect with my HD2 (Rom WM NRGZ), while my laptop can do.
But today I show my Iconia 500 to my work, and a friend with her HTC Desire HD with Android custom ROM and wifi tethering connect it without problem...
But it's not a USB modem it's wifi tethering (I'm probably off topic ?)

Hi
I've the same combination (iconia-hd2 wm) and wrestled quite a while to tether in windows mobile. Tried numerous wpa-supplicants and tetherprogs but none worked. The solution.......change your HD2 from windows to Android. I've CyanogenMod Android 2.2. (search in HD2 forum) I can dual boot but so satisfied with Android that i keep it running continuous. Tethering the Iconia.........just start "wireless tethering" in Android, connect and ready.

Just follow the steps from the post, and it should work.

WiFi
I don't think it will work with USB..at least I didn't find a way to do this with my PC
Not to be completely annoying, but the [DEV] thread is for someone who knows their way around. If anyone could post a dummy's step-by-step it would be a huge help for noobie android enthusiasts.

Pretty sure it's MTP only.
Yeah but i think it will be ums custom kernel
Sent from my Nexus S using xda app-developers app
Doesn't seem much info on this or that anyone is working on a solution. I tried sgs3 easy ums apk which doesn't work.
It's a shame I wanted to connect the n4 to the USB port in the car radio.

[Q] Bluetooth driver for Android HD2

Hi guys
I installed this Rom: " NexusHD2-JellyBean-4.1.2-CM10 V1.3a [NativeSD] "on my device
but I have a problem in connecting the phone to my laptop via Bluetooth, I'm getting this error:
the Bluetooth driver for peripheral device is not installed , and I cant find the proper drivers
can anyone help me to fix this problem?
thanks
This is a windows issue, not an Android/HD2 issue. Try this link: http://www.sevenforums.com/drivers/...heral-device-driver-solution-windows-7-a.html
If it doesn't help you, look for the problem on google.
