Would glass work for someone with one eye? - Glass General

Sorry if this seems a stupid question, but as the title says, I'm curious as to whether I could use Google glass as I only have sight in one of my eyes (my right eye)
Thanks in advanced to anyone replying, and I hope you're all enjoying your glass

Yes. It's not stereo; the little prism display is only over the right eye.

Thanks very much! I wasn't sure on how much of the lens it took up, so I was wondering about whether I'd be able to see anything other than the display.
Thanks again!

of course ,only right side has a very little display now.

The prism is small and positioned to be on the periphery of your vision, so it doesn't block much at all.

If you're right-eyed, you seem to be in luck, because all the pictures of Glass I've seen are positioned on the right.
See this picture, only that small square is actual 'display', everything else is more or less a frame.

Maybe they're going to make left ones too, who knows.

Google has said that it is designed to display right at the edge of your vision so as to not block normal sight, but they are assuming stereoscopic vision. Looking at the pictures again, like the one above, I am a little concerned that Glass might block, or at least obscure, a good chunk of vital vision.

That's what I was worried about, I don't wanna splash out and get glass and then walk into the path of a bus or something lol.
I may message Google and see what they say!
Will post a reply here should I get one
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2

There doesn't appear to be a way to message Google with my question as I don't have glass.
I'll just have to wait and see
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2

I'm in the same boat except I'm the unlucky one to only have sight in my left eye...
I'm really interested in Google glass but I'm guessing I'm probably going to be SOL... Hopefully they bring out a version for the left side...

Same here... I'm going to have to wait for the left eye version to come out the unit is designed asymmetrically, so it can't just be flipped over to the other side.

Screen not flat, slightly raised?

The glass screen on my desire hd isnt flat abd the right hand centre edge is slightly raised and half a milimetre raised, its noticable if i run my thumb across the right side i can feel the glass edge, but not when i rub it over the left side which is fit perfect.
Could you guys check yours and see if you have something similar
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I don't have mine yet (tomorrow I will), but this is a no brainer. Send it back to HTC and your store and get a new one.
It shouldn't be this way and if it really is the higherst point the change of dammage (it can come from repeatingly getiing it in and out your pouch even). is high.
Sad to hear it isn't so good.
EDIT: it isn't a problem if you feel the metal. That's good. But the screen should never be higher then the rest of the frame.
in a earlier thread i raised this, i have since found out that it might not be a design issue.
A years manufactures warranty exists on the phone... so to some extent ill be ok if the screen becomes worse.
if you want to send it back, make sure you read the warranty carefully though as they may also be something to catch you out. make sure you don't have custom firmware as it potentially can void the warranty
If we can get other desire hd users to confirm how their phones are it would be great, im over the moon with this phone. I could probably live with it, but its brand new and thats how it was out the box, could other xda users please inspect their dhds closely please?

There are sooo many threads open regarding this issue.
It seems like the screen in intentionally lower than the case to protect the screen from scratching when you face the phone down.
However, the screen should be equal for both sides but yours seems unequal so it might be faulty
This is what the issue is, see in the picture, anyone got anything like this at all?

Okay I think yours is faulty for sure...I haven't seen anyone reported that at all. The screen should definitely be lower than the case.

Definately not normal mox123. I have had 3 DHD in total now and can say that none of the screens were raised like this. I have come to the conclusion, however, that the build quality of each handset varies alot!
Im gonna call the network on monday and get this sorted out, overall handset is perfect apart from this minor flaw

thanks for the reply. it is very obvious if you look at house's face and the background is full of random colour as well. I restored the tab and still hv the same problem
Sorry, but from the still shot I see nothing wrong as you describe it.
EDIT: When I increase the brightness on my screen and enlarge the picture, I see what you're probably talking about in the upper right side of the background. As far as a fix? IDK Maybe remembering the tab isn't a blu-Ray player hooked up to a 1080p TV?
Sorry but hopefully someone with a more discerning eye and better knowledge of what you need to do will notice this from my bump and be able to help you.

I don't see anything like what you described ... did you check the image with your computer too? Does it still have the random colors?
I tried to view the pic on my phone and it shows that there is no problem... which means is defo the problem with the screen.. could be moisture bt I'm guna sd it bk... thanks guys
It would have been easier if you took an actual photo instead of a screenshot.
on my p7500 no such problem...
Random colours as a rainbow effect? That is the known issue with earlier Galaxy Tab 10.1 and most of the current crop. It's called an oil slick, moisture under the screen, etc. Can't remember what the name was but it's a problem with the glass touching the lcd and causing the effect. It's mostly viewed under high humidity or temperature such as going outside in the summer with your tab or if you put pressure on the back.
The Galaxy Tab 10.1 GT7500 4G, has no such problem I kind of make out some kind of film they might of put between the glass and the lcd. Not sure but what ever it is it seems to have corrected the issue. Also by the way the GT7500 has Gorilla Glass which is not used on the GT 7510.
Just wanted to point out that my GT-P7510 does have Gorilla Glass.

Only thing I see is low quality on the video, it's either been encoded using low settings or it's a small resolution and being upscaled on the 10inch screen so the quality looks a bit bad.

[Q] Blobs on screen that only show when screen is dark?

Hi All,
I think I may have to return my Nexus under warranty, I am delighted with it as a tablet but have noticed I am getting blobs appear whenever the background is dark and especially on black backgrounds, I have taken a photo of them with the tablet turned off.

It's probably the oleophobic coating coming off.
I will post a photo to show you what I mean as soon as I am permitted to.
I am surprised many people ever get past 10 posts on this forum having to type the image verification code every time and having to wait 5 minutes between posts and not allowed to post images or links!

Maybe from your case? My case gets little dust marks on my screen.
No, not dust, I have circled the 4 blobs in orange.

Like I said before, it looks like the oleophobic coating coming off. It's really strange that it would be coming off on a pattern like that... Is there a part of the case that has those 4 dots that could be rubbing on it?
I have something similar with my screen. It looks like a smudge fingerprint on the left side of the screen. I can wipe it off but it always comes back. I've tried soap, lens paper, water but it keeps reappearing after a few hours.

Checked and definitely no pattern like that on the case + when its closed it doesn't touch the screen anyway.

Just thought I would update on this, the problem didn't really get any worse but also didn't resolve so I have recently sent it back to Asus as it was nearing end of warranty period and they have put a brand new screen on now so a good outcome.

Strange stains appeared in my N4's screen

What is this? I can't clear it.

Fingerprint and face grease? Just wipe it off is all
Looks like fingerprint smudges.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Looks like face imprint, wash face, use a face lotion for oily skin, and wipe screen....
damp cloth with some dish detergent should take that off in a few seconds. Warm for best results.
I believe aliens are sending you messages. I can roughly translate it:
"Wash your hands"
Is it Jesus?
I think it's the Virgin Mary. :good:
I literally looks like a face smudge just wipe it off

It looks like they are under the screen. When I push it down, they get more dark but always remain there.

I have the same problem !
No seriously, I have the same problem ...
I just got the nexus and right out of the box (after peeling the plastic) I noticed the same thing... At first I thought it was the "peeling glue" but I couldn't get rid of it (I tried a fiber cloth).
The next day I took it to a local phone shop and they were surprised too, they tried different things and couldn't get rid of it....
I Googled it and found this post, I tried the detergent method (and yes it remove all my finger marks but those weird stains remained, I looked closely and it looks like it's bellow the screen itself, any one having the same issue and new suggestions?
Make as much fun as you want. I came across the exact same problem. I can't clean it off. I think they may have used a coating when making the screens and it is wearing off. That's why this happens.
OK so I called Google and they sent me a replacement device. You might want to look into that option.
somebody else found a solution i cant find the solution to this problem can u @ least tell me what to replace cause i dont have guarantee...?I can post a video about that stain btw...

I guess they are oil stains...yeah seriously... I have seen one phone before having the same case..
Or maybe it could be a face smudge>..

Simple Cooling Solution. Put the Ouya on its Side.

so what I did was i left my ouya on for a few day doing nothing just on the homescreen. It got warm. Left it on its side did the same things with it and it was no where near the same temperature. its almost cool to the touch on the outside.
I thought that was the way it's supposed to go... otherwise the fan is on the bottom getting blocked.

There is no fan on the bottom. There are vents, but the fan is mounted to the heatsink which is mounted to the processor which is on the board which is mounted vertically in the case. So the fan is actually sideways when the Ouya is sitting upright - which may explain why the OP seemed to experience better cooling with it on it's side. If he placed it on the side that puts the fan up then it may cool somewhat better naturally just due to the way heat rises.
But really, why would you possibly think it goes on it's side? There's a weight in the bottom to keep it upright - what would be the point of that if it wasn't meant to sit upright? The bottom heaviness was very apparent to me when I first picked it up out of it's shipping box - but I still had a good laugh when I opened it up and saw that they actually added weight to it to keep it upright like that.
From what has been talked about, the OUYA is specially designed (like a good PC) to pull air in one side and push it out the other. The vents on the bottom I believe is where it's pulled in, then makes a wind-tunnel like effect, cooling the inside and pushing it out. It could be the other way around, but not sure.

not a wind tunnel effect going on in the ouya. The fan is mounted facing toward the wall of the box, not vertical (toward the bottom or top).
First need to change thermopaste to "IC diamond"
Then replace the fan if not happy with temps.
