Yeah I have been looking for the apk to try and can't find it. Yes you can. Lots of nice ones in the market just not a lot with dedicated number row and swype. Swift key is nice

thats true, does swiftkey have auto-correct and dedicated number row?
im using one which has autocorrect but not dedicated number row
what was the samsung thinking with no autocorrect lol

No numbers row but auto correct works well. I had heard Samsung removed it on US versions cause of Apple. Kii has a paid one with numbers row and autocorrect with swype feature but the swype freezes some

You know when you make a mistake and you can touch the area you want to fix by either deleting or changing a letter well when i do that the the line wont stay on that spot it just shoots of somewhere else every time

Same here, it's really annoying. I have to admit it's somehow better after the latest update but not completely fixed!

Swype on nexus 7

Hi everyone,
I just preordered my nexus 7, but was wondering if out comes with Swype. I'm pretty sure it doesn't, but just wanted to check. If it isn't already there, can someone check to see if the free beta works?
I know the Toshiba excite 7.7 has Swype, so maybe out would be possible to rip it from there? I love this keyboard, looking for solutions, thanks

Did you try signing up for Swype Beta?

No swype beta preinstalled, but swype beta installed just fine... and is my preferred input method on this 7 inch form factor.

That's great. I used to have an Acer A100 and it didn't work with it, I'm guessing the resolution was incompatible.
Now we just have to figure out how to keep Swype on there after the beta days are over...
The beta now supports all resolutions. Using it right now on my Kindle Fire.
Sent from my Amazon Kindle Fire using xda premium
yes as pointed out before the new beta supports all screen sizes and resolutions....got it working on my hp touchpad before selling it, so swype just need to update their app to support jellybean
it worked good on kindle fire not the greatest but it worked. I just hope it works better on the nexus 7 then it did on the kindlefire

I agree. I get frustrated with it on the kf and often flext9 instead. But on my phone, Swype is awesome.
I may try the new monk keyboard as well...it is weird, but i think it will be lighting fast once you get over the learning curve.

Swiftkey?
Just wondering if anyone had tried Swiftkey 3 on this device and if it works well/even supported? And also do you prefer it over Swype (I currently use this)

I have both keyboards, and much prefer Swype. I find it to be much faster since your not going key by key, but rather creating whole words. There is a slight learning curve for Swype, but as long as you give it a chance for a few days, you'd probably get used to it. The latest beta really makes it useable, although I only use Swype in portrait mode. Fyi - I have a hardware keyboard on my phone, so if I enter landscape mode, it's probably less work for me just to flip open the keypad and get my typing done. I tried Swyping in landscape mode yesterday and found it quite awkward, maybe I'm just not used to it.
Sent from my XT894 running ICS
Thanks for the reply! I will probably try Swype first because its input method is just amazing! But who knows how well it will work on a tablet.
Swift key and swype beta and thumb keyboard all are compatible and work great with the N7.
I change it up every so often, they are all good. Stock jelly keyboard is also real good too...

The million-dollar question is, does it recognize the tablet-ness and give you the resizeable keyboard button? Or does it give you the phone version?

That is useless. It replaces words such as 'at' after you have typed them and pressed space with ones like 'or' or 'now' it's crazy!
This option is not in US phones has something to do with apples law suit against Samsung for autocorrect. I use swiftkey because of this, works great.

It is because of the phone lag. You just have to wait a little bit before typing the space.

I don't see Microsoft suing for use of auto-correct. Apple is just plain asinine in that regard.
I have not found swiftkey to slow my phone down at all. I'm loving it more than stock so far.

Right I was reluctant to try it because I felt the stock should work right but after using it I wouldn't have it any other way. Completely changes your interaction with the phone.

Used to swear by the stock Google AOSP keyboard, couldn't get used to Swiftkey at first but after 2 weeks of using it, I love it.

Touch Wiz Samsung keyboard autocorrect

Any idea why it doesn't even work with an international ROM?
Still doesn't automatically autocorrect for me.
EDIT: Oops this was supposed to be in Q&A sorry.
It doesn't auto correct period. Download smart keyboard pro or root and flash Xperia keyboard which has the best auto correct ever.

I think this is it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2196653.

I didn't read up on it so I'm not sure if its 100% compatible with the sg4 bit it is under general android forum.

I agree. But hey to each his own right.
The Samsung keyboard, even though it's a version of SwiftKey, is crippled without autocorrect so I just use the normal SwiftKey which is amazingly awesome. I thought I really wanted the always-there number row on the Samsung keyboard, but adjusting the key hold duration to ~200ms on SwiftKey makes inserting numbers nearly as good while taking up less screen space.

That is a great suggestion for the SwiftKey keyboard. I have multiple keyboards loaded and find myself constantly switching back and forth. Different KBs have their pros and cons. I like the number key on the Samsung KB, but missing AC is not so nice.
Reducing the key hold duration per your suggestion makes SwiftKey much more usable for me. It's now back to my default KB.
Heh. The KBs I have on my GS4 are:
A.I. type KB free
AnySoftKB
Kii KB
MessageEase KB (never really got into this one)
Swype
Samsung (OEM)
Google voice (OEM)
TouchPal KB
SwiftKey KB

Try using Samsung international keyboard or Google keyboard from play store.
