Hello all,
I had a moto defy with stock rom. I rooted the device using super one click v1.7 and then flashed a moto defy plus (MB526) rooted ROM to this device. My Moto Defy has a green lens and I later came to know that I shouldn't have flashed a rom of moto defy plus to a moto defy device especially with a green lens as it is not at all supported by moto defy plus roms.
Unfortunately I cannot also downgrade back to a stock moto defy rom now and I have lost my camera for pictures as well as video. Does anyone know a workaround for this or any other stable custom rom for moto defy plus which can work with green as well as red lens.
My phone at the moment (post rooting and flashing new rooted rom) is recognised as a Moto Defy Plus with the
Android Version 2.3.6 &
Kernel Version [email protected] # 1.
If anyone knows a work around to get the camera working again it would be very helpful... Thanks in advance...

What rooted ROM did you flash?Was it a full SBF.?
Also post your build number.

I first rooted from Stock Moto Defy Rom (Froyo 2.2.2) to a stock moto defy + rom (full sbf)

That is the worst thing. You flashed a BL7 full SBF. You cannot downgrade and your camera most probably will not work ever.
I read something about a mod though that might help you.. Will look for that once I get access to my laptop. Can't promise anything yet

If you want a working camera after all this and want a stock-like feel (as far as the GUI goes) then try MSGinger5.
I have such a phone that a "wizard" mocked up and all is well with MSGinger5.
(All except that the phone reboots when not on USB/charger... but thats not because of the ROM.
It does that with all ROMs).

I got a Defy MB525 and some stupid idiot gave me a 8GB memory card for it as present for xmas, so as i need to put everything on new card i thought i would reset to factory and update phone.

what i am looking for is a decient update not looking for overclocked cpu, latest Alpha or Beta for jon shmiffs all coloured update, just a bit better than i got now.
I need to know what to run to get this on my phone but
user1 says romxxx ver2 run with romcrackxx with alpha zip3.
User2 lists 34 programs that when i google for them my computer just emits steam.
User3 says do this and you own a brick so do it this way.
WTF
is there a plain english guide to update a Defy, as today there are over 600 threads on here and search for defy update 168 threads, where do I start.
If I have put this request in wrong place dont shout at me this was where google sent me for Defy updates.

Depends on what rom you want..
the list are the options .. in addition to the standard moto released 2.2.2 and defy+ 2.3.4 roms are also avaible which you u have to flash..

used the defy+ rom was very satisfied with that.. used to get 12-16 hrs with 3g+ calls and now on CM9+ ADW .. 24hrs+
With the last gingerbread kernel (android 2.3.6) i dont found way to the cam works. Anyone knows how to make it? downgrade to froyo/GB 2.3.4, a new Green Bread Mod.... something that the people who has flashed the gb kernel by error can fx it.

DONT downgrade to 2.3.4, youll brick your phone! green lens wont work on gb (2.3) kernels, because official gb roms are for defy+, and defy+ has red lens, so the green lens module is excluded from the kernel. but as far as i know, epsylon3 is working on a cam driver.
I have tried differents methods to dowgrade but anyone has bricked the phone, i only reflash 2.3.6 sbf. would you tell me where i can find about epsylon3 work? Thanks very much.

1-if i have defy (whether it with red or green lens) can i flash any full SBF except the Gingerbread SBF?
2-if if i have defy (whether it with red or green lens) can i flash any fixed SBF except the Gingerbread SBF?
3-if i have defy (whether it with red or green lens) can i flash any custom Rom?
4-if i have defy (with red lens) and i flash a rom that is just for green lens will i brick my device (or vice versa)?

1: you can flash any sbf, but if you flash gingerbread, you wont be able to downgrade to froyo, and if you have green lens, you wont be able to use your camera with a stock rom. if you flash a 2.3.6 sbf, you wont even be able to downgrade to 2.3.4
2: you can flash any sbf (even 2.3.4 gb ones), and you'll have the downgradeability, but you wont have it with the 2.3.6 ones.
3: of course you can, but only with 2nd init, not with rsd lite.
4: no, you wont brick it, you just simply wont be able to use the camera.
5: if you mean defy rom on a defy+, you will brick your phone. but the defy roms support both lenses.
6: the only thing that can damage your flash is flashing me525 (chinese defy) on your mb525 ('normal' defy). as far as i know, nothing can damage your camera.

Great News for those green lense defy (mb525) owners like me who have accidentally flashed full defy plus sbf & they were on bl7.
Root ur Cell & use Quarks IInd boot defy rom with custom kernels..
You will find your camera live & working fine.. ( my camera was not working since last 1 month after i flashed full defy plus sbf )
No problem with charging battery at all... Full Credit goes to Quarks.............:good:

cause the original (SBF RETAIL 2.2.1 FROYO) don't work... I try to use RSD Lite but black screen & white led.
Just the SBF I posted here works.
I kinda like it, the problem is that its ENGLISH. I want a Brazilian one. (portuguese)
What can I do? What are my options? Am I stuck to this SBF?

You're now got stuck to this SBF forever, from now on when you want to back to "Stock", use that "DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1-134_DFP-132" only.
But this one wasn't that bad, you can still root it easy with "SuperOneClick" and install a custom roms to fix your battery, camera, language and such.
If your camera still work, that's mean you have Defy mb525 Bayer lens (with stock MB526 rom inside), so I suggest this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1140839
Install this MS2ginger the way Defy+ would do (but don't install "Defy+battery.zip", just finish at "restore system" and you're good to go.)
It contain so many language, Brazilian should be there.
If your camara doesn't work anymore, that means your have Soc lens, which won't work on GB kernel...so this is your last hope, a "Custom kernel" rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1795647
