First day buy for me.

Hmm, Now I get to decide if I should wait for the announcement, or return my Nexus 7 now....

Looks like I bought mine at the wrong time, oh well.

If these specs are accurate, I'm a little concerned about battery life. Doesn't the current gen Nexus 7 have a 4350 mah battery? With a 1080p screen and slightly smaller battery you'd be lucky to get decent battery life even with a more efficient soc. They should have stuck with current resolution or improved battery capacity.

Looks good but yes concerned about battery life. Also needs 2GB of Ram. But if its $199 for 16GB and $249 for 32GB then its a first day buy for me.

Not concerned.
There is no way Google wiil put out a Nexus 7 successor with much worst battery life.

Fake

i'll be there...
if the specs for the next generation of nexus 7 come even anywhere close to this, i am [IN]. the funniest part of this is the timing... tomorrow i am giving my self-rooted, completely customized and "fully loaded" 1st gen nexus 7 to a good buddy of mine as a gesture of kindness since his ex just left him earlier this week and stole his laptop pc (and much other stuff). i guess karma is on my side right now!

to be honest....... whats everyone getting excited about? all i see is added cam.?

I just bought a used Nexus 7 for a good price, so no 2nd generation Nexus 7 for me...
Oh well, I saved a lot of money and got it a few months earlier (who knows how long it will take us to get it here in Canada, especially if it sells out fast again).
I don't care about the camera since I don't plan to take pictures with it and I have a camera in my smartphone. Slightly better screen and processor is nice but not worth the extra money.

I just bought a nexus and dont need any better specs, for me there's no need to upgrade,if everything runs fast no need for next nexus.

So I was planning for N7 1st gen, but I think I can wait a lil bit more, considering that we have a Qualcomm powered quadcore cpu... The HD front camera + 5MP rear camera are on the line too...... hoping that it will be woth the wait........

It's almost 100% sure that the next gen Nexus 7 will be available but if you wait for the announcement the price of first gen will drop REALLY low, considering that the next one will also sell really cheap.

Rear camera is a waste of resources

Another rumor:
"The chipset of choice would be the latest Snapdragon 800 (a.k.a beast) instead of any older model."

I was under the impression that the SD 800 wasn't going to be availible for a few more months (in the Fall iirc)

I doubt we will see a Snap Dragon 800 with the existing price point.

If Google is planning to release the new Nexus 7 at I/O then it wouldn't include the SnapDragon 800 because as was stated it won't reach production until fall.
I sure hope these specs are true though because I consider that a good upgrade over the current Nexus 7 and will buy it as soon as possible.

why did i just read the above post in a VERY loud voice inside my head?
anyway, i dont see this shipping with the SD800, i could see the 600 though but if they are going to keep it the same price point, i would be just peachy with the S4 Pro. its kinda what i figured they would do to keep the price lower, give this a speed increase, a resolution bump, a RAM bump, and a rear camera.
they need two versions for the same price. one with rear camera and S4 Pro, one with no rear camera and Snapdragon 600

Considering moving to the SIII? Share your thoughts!

Hey everyone!
So as we all now know, the galaxy s III is coming to sprint by the 21st, and many of us are considering moving to the SIII for our upgrade. I personally hope to get one on the first when my upgrade hits. How bout u guys? Would u switch? Have u already decided? Why or why not? What r u most excited for? What will u miss from the NS4G? Any thoughts welcome!
I'm personally very excited to experience its speed, camera, and huge screen as primary things, with the other enhancements coming in second
How bout u?

Totally getting one through my work but I'm upset its not going to be the quad core version. North America got screwed out of that in favour of LTE speeds. Anyone know how the dual core will benchmark compared to the quad exoynos?

I pre ordered the gs3 within 5 minutes of sprint putting up the pre order page. So yes, I am getting excited about this phone. This is kind of unusual for me because I don't normally get excited over release dates.
I am looking forward to pretty much the same things as you. The big screen, more speed, 2gb ram and I miss the memory card slot I lost when coming to the ns4g.
There is really only one concern I have and that's with having to use Odin. I have many bad experiences with odin and even the thought of using it again gives me a little apprehension.
I can only hope I like the gs3 as much as I have the ns4g.
_______________
Just Flash It !!!
I ordered mine about 2 min after Skunk ape. I've never had an issue with Odin myself and consider it an advantage of the Galaxy phones.
Yea I hear ya, personally I've had great experience with Odin so I'm not too concerned about that...I haven't pre ordered the phone only cause my upgrade isn't till the first . The dev community should be great since it seems to be getting supercharged with some of the best of the xda community going to it . I'm going for pebble blue myself, the white seems too glossy and not elegant, I love the way the finish on the blue looks, but of course gotta see it first

I'd like one but no upgrade for me until November. If I can nab one off eBay for a good price, I'll buy one. Otherwise, I'll be using my Nexus until it fails.

Benchmarks are so close you won't notice a difference. The dual core used has wider cores to allow more information to be passed through. The quad core doesn't have that technology yet so we're actually better off. Plus better battery life

Yeah - I will also change my phone in a month or so.Nexus S is good but i think it is very slow and sluggish now due to ICS.I'll switch to GNex and save money for next nexus phone.
I'm going to hold off at least until the next nexus phones.

same here. my upgrade is not until aug & with the news that there will be 5 nexus phones... i think waiting to see the competition for a fresh jelly bean phone will be my best bet
My thoughts are touchjizz sucks and since sammy is sooo amazingly fast with updates and always releases their kernel source.

Galaxy S III!!!
I love my nexus s 4g ever since cyanogenmod 9 has a stable version my phone has not messed up too much. i experienced 2 random reboots in the last 3 weeks. battery life is good. I was gonna go with the galaxy note because of the 5.3' screen but since i seen the galaxy S III even though the screen is only 4.8' it's better than my 4' screen. another thing that snagged me was not that it's not gonna be dual core it's the fact that it's gonna be the first phone with 2gb of RAM it might be a little sacrifice from the quad core it was supposed to be released with. to me i think the galaxy S III will be a great phone. yes they have bugs but everyone knows the verry first set of phones will have issues. thank god my contract ends this november so this way i can save up get the $250 32gb version and only pay $50 with my $150 discount and also i will be able to get some accessories for it like the wireless charger because that is set to come out 3 months from now. since my contract ends in november i will be able to get it. another thing that got my attention to galaxy S III is that they use gorilla glass 2 on it so it can protect against cracks. And when i get the phone they might have better accessories released by then like cases skins and maybe the otter box. i used to own the htc evo 4g but i went through 3 of them cause i had the white one so sprint said at the corp. store do u want to wait until another evo 4 comes in or do you want to take the nexus s 4g so i took it and ever since i did i like samsung smartphones now the camera runs better and smoother than that crappy htc ones they suck. well this is my reason to switch to Galaxy S III i hope u liked it.
Haha what a response, but very realistic and full . Thanks for that! Tho I must warn you that actually with an upgrade it is 200 dollars, so unless ur getting 150 from selling ur nexus, don't expect ur upgrade to get it lower, since 199 is the price after applying upgrade numbers; outside upgrade it is higher than 500 dollars.
To respond to the one who asked about quadrant and speed in quad v dual, I've read many many reports on the issue and it seems that the snapdragon s4 coming to the U.S. actually tends to outperform the quad in most areas, proving that more isn't always better. Also the s4 is based on a newer chip architecture than the quad as another person mentioned earlier. This means not only do we get an edge in the whole technology and in speed, performance, etc, but we also get a nice battery boost vs the international version because 2 cores takes less to operate than 4, S4 is also more power efficient, and finally, we have a really nice battery not to mention 2gbs of ram, so I personally expect highly impressive battery results, even with it being an lte phone, since at launch lte will be off anyway, giving us the performance boost and battery boost of the dual core, newer s4, more ram, all on a highly loaded battery built to handle a quad or a dual with lte on.
Does that make sense? U see how its practically a win win for us?

I'm probably gonna hold off until the next Nexus device. I'm really curious as to what the next Nexus device will look like. Hopefully by then the prices will drop for the three year term (yes...I'm in Canada -_-).
I waited on the Nexus S and it ended up being a single core device with specs identical to the Galaxy S released about one month before the first dual core phones.
So I waited until MWC 2011 to see what the SGS 2 would look like, as I was excited for that. I wasn't let down, aside from the lack of resolution update. But no AWS for a long time and when the T-Mo version came out it wasn't even the same device anymore.
I got a cheap Nexus S and so I waited on Nexus Prime / Galaxy Nexus. It looked amazing externally, but internally the specs were anemic. Most of the performance gains were software based, and basic things like camera were a downgrade.
So I waited on SGS 3, thinking THIS WOULD BE IT. Nope.
It's literally an SGS2 HD with two extra cores and overclocked gpu. It also looks far inferior to the Galaxy Nexus and even the SGS 2 - not that I care about aesthetics much but glossy plastic? Really?? One X has it beat on display quality and aesthetics, but unfortunately lacks microsd, removeable battery and has inferior camera.
Software is something that both OEMs pimped, and would be the first thing I would remove.
Next Nexus device is that low cost Tegra 3 asus tablet coming next month, after that who knows? I want to see what the Sony "Mint" superphone is, as well as the first LG phone with their new 5" 1080p panel.
Once again, my "next phone" is another 4-6 months out.
Being techbeard is suffering.

Honestly all the specs we could've expected came in the s3 aside from things like flexible display, which were really not ready for production anyway. As for plastic design? See the blue, and hold it before you say it feels cheap. And it is far from an HD sgsii. Granted its not as far of a boost but we shouldn't have expected another amazing jump, nonetheless this is quite an uograde, and as u showed, the siii wins out because of things like removabale battery, tho build quality is generally better on htc, Samsung has an impressive galaxy track record not to mention the development aspects of being able to use odin vs struggling aginst s off

I thought a lot of jumping in the Galaxy S3 but my Nexus S4G still great so I'm just going to hold out for the next Nexus this late fall or winter & if sprint doesn't improve with this network vision I'm off to T-Mobile faster speeds with there Hspa+ I've been with Sprint for 10 years!! Back on subject the Galaxy S3 is going to be a great phone with tons of Roms remember this time all of the carriers Galaxies will be identical except a few things like radios & apps so it be great to develop & port things all have same name no more E4GT or S2 skyrocket just Galaxy S3 pick a color & carrier they will also have sane CPU, gpu 2gb ram identical

[Q] should i buy n4 or sgs4 coming from gnex?

hello guys. i am looking for a new smartphone to replace my galaxy nexus. is a good phone but sometimes it shows his age in some apps.
i live in brazil so i can buy nexus 4 for R$1140 that is 512USD, and galaxy s4 octa is R$1685 that is 755USD. i love pure stock android but the hardware and camera of galaxy s4 is amazing. but the laggy touchwiz and only 9gb of space available makes me a bit worried. so i want to know if the pros of gs4 worth the 243USD more.
thanks
EDIT:i will sell my galaxy nexus for R$800, 359USD.

Can you think of anything the octa core processor can run that the quad core can't? How much is a cell phone camera worth to you? Are you looking to take professional grade photos with a phone? Which device has a better chance of running stock android? I would go with the nexus.

I would go for the Nexus. The Octa in the S4 can only run 4 cores at a time, so it isn't a true octa core processor, its a BIG.little chip. If you have the chance to get an HTC One, then I would go for that for the build quality

It depends on how much you value the camera and storage of the GS4 but overall I'd say no, the GS4 isn't worth $243 more.
Thank you guys. After read all the answers I noticed that everyone says that s4 do not worth the additional price. I will sell my gnex and buy a nexus 4. When I put all the pros and cons of both phones for my needing n4 is the winner. My opinion for who is in the same dillema:
S4 pros-
Camera
Raw power
Bigger screen
S4 cons-
More expensive
Touchwiz and Samsung bloat.
Bad big.little management (cluster migration)
Only 9gb for the user in 16gb model.
N4 pros-
Cheaper
Stock android
Lots of Roms that I am already used in gnex like PA.
Can run any game that s4 runs.
N4 Cons-
Smaller screen
Touch not so good as gnex
Camera not so good as s4 but better than gnex, so for me is enough.
So the cons on the n4 will not ruin my experience, is like a PC upgrade I will just upgrade the hardware and run the same software that I used to. Thank you guys to help me decide and save some money.

I would advise you to wait for snapdragon800. The nexus 4 for 500$ is expensive.
Wait for the upgraded galaxy S4 or a new nexus that should have the snapdragon800 SoC.
Also, check the rumored sony honami that is said to be announced in a few days, snapdragon800, 20mpx camera with 4k video recording.
So if you could wait a little it will be a big upgrade for you from a galaxy nexus, bigger than to either n4 or s4.

Because snapdragon 800 blows every other snapdragon chip out of the water. If it was a s4 pro -> s600 upgrade i wouldn't have advised him to wait, but the s800 is a totally new generation of SoC.

Still doesn't answer either question. It may well blow every SoC out of the water but that just means it's overkill and the power will never really be used.

s800 SoC supports 3GB of RAM , 4k video recording, 2k displays, and additional ports... oh, and a new stronger adreno 330 gpu.
in no way i find it overkill if you use your hardware for more than calls/sms, especially when implemented in tablets. Furthermore, as ubuntu for android (not ubuntu touch) should be coming out by the end of the year, i'm pretty sure the s800 should provide better performance in that field.

Well I haven't found a single HD game that can lag the N4 yet and I don't see any use whatsoever of having the S800 over the N4. Maybe I'll be proved wrong in the future but right now there's no point to waiting for the S800.

You're comparing a SoC to a phone as a whole?
If you take a wider look, running a 1080p display, a bigger camera sensor, not to mention the low level software tweaking and optimizations like project butter and other under the hood ones, etc.. requires a lot of processing power.
And with your logic, we don't need 1080p displays, or camera hardware similar to that in p&s ones, it's all overkill.
Did you know that the n4 gives a higher fps result when playing games than an s4 ? It just tells you that the s600 is not capable of pushing all those pixels and maintaining the same fluidity as it would on 720p.
Snapdragon800 is in no way an overkill to mobile devices, it's just a result of the evolution of technology. Other hardware parts are also evolving.
And p.s. s800 supports usb 3.0 , but why would anyone want faster data transfer rates, it's all overkill !
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Definitely the N4, even though S4 has a system dump already for the 4.3, Nexus devices will have it eventually.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Actually yes 1080p displays are definitely overkill IMO. I know that the N4 gets better FPS than the GS4 but that's NOT the same as saying the GS4 gets low FPS. Games are more than perfectly playable at the 40-60 FPS that the GS4 manages on ultra high settings on Real Racing 3. As you said though it's not all about the SoC and it's fairly clear that the GS4's software is poorly optimised seeing as it lags even when scrolling through the home screen. If I'm not mistaken the Adreno 320 is supposed to be capable of handling multiple 1080p displays at once.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all in favour of mobile technology advancing, but I wouldn't recommend a more expensive device over such a small increase in performance.

ok, i think i get your point now. i respect your opinion, but i don't agree with it (and that's cool).
1080p is actually quite beautiful when you have a big display (5") and no on screen buttons eating up space. watching a youtube video on full HD is really nice, the sharpness and color distribution also (noticeable when comparing both pentile on s3 and s4).
Anyways, all i wanted to say in my first post is that it's July already, and that a new generation of SoC is coming, and it's gonna be a pretty big upgrade. furthermore, we're all expecting a new nexus in Q4 right? i'm pretty sure we're gonna see an s800 in there, and hopefully Google will keep it's pricing strategy. i think a 3 months wait (till Oct/Nov) is worth it, i'm pretty sure OP's galaxy nexus could live that long, it's not that he has a low end device.
just to add one more thought, i'm aware that my nexus 4 will be more than capable to run ubuntu for android for example, but i'm pretty sure a nexus with an s800 would be even more capable. Or maybe i'm the only one getting excited about turning my phone into a dockable remote PC

Hopefully going to buy an N4 soon, is it worth it?

Selling my S3, if I do I'm getting this phone. I know a new Nexus might be around the corner, but the N4's price and specs are pretty fine with me. Just wanted to ask, is battery life good? And will it work with T-Mobile no hassle?

Sell your s3 now, wait October, add 100 bucks and buy new nexus. Don't get me wrong, n4 is still the beast (my gf has s3 and nexus is so much faster, they can't really be compared), but if google continues with this aggressively low pricing of nexus devices, I think it's better deal. It's your call though

Yeah that's the thing, I don't have the money. I'm saving up for PC parts and I've been delaying it for some time, so I won't wait any longer. Plus, I have the new N7 which is pretty portable and I really don't need a 1080p phone which is what I guess will be the next Nexus 4?

Nexus 4 it is then believe me you won't regret it. There is no faster phone out there in terms of UI smoothness. It's literally lag free. One thing though :maybe it will take you some time getting used to n4 display, it's very different than sgs3's amoled screen, because it provides more natural and realistic colors, and its utterly better in my opinion build quality of n4 gives more premium feel than s3 does with its plastic body. You won't be disappointed trust me.
Edit: lol I quoted myself by accident

I have desire hd which I still really like (thanks to many great developers STILL working on that heavy beast). I just bought an N4 fully realizing that the next gen will be out soon.
BUT at this price it's hard to say no, what happens if your phone breaks out of contract? New contract or new phone? Either way it costs more than the n4 so even if you don't really need one you might as well buy it and consider it a kickass backup phone / cheap insurance policy.
This will be my new love until March when the thrill of the N5 has died out. I can't wait for n4 and n5!

Yeah, desire hd had (and still has) great developer support. I am in about same situation as you, bought n4 couple of months ago and will keep it certainly until March or April next year

I've used it before thankfully I prefer it actually, amoled colors are too saturated IMO. It happens to me daily when I switch between the Nexus 7 and the gs3 the colors are very different. However when it comes to display, I'm excited to have a "retina" display-level screen, the gs3 is too pixelated because of its pentile matrix

See I'm opposite.. Just got a gs3 after 7 months of n4 and the gs3 ruined the n4 screen for me.. It was so bland..
I just ordered the 16gb nexus 4 and I can't wait to get it. The only bad thing I've read after doing loads of research is the glass back. I have front and back screen protectors and case on the way. I know the next nexus is only a month or 2 away but I figure I'll probably be able to get most of my money back selling the device on ebay seeing as it seems to be going more than the new price from google. Then I'll get the next one. I'm in need of a phone now and I wont be in any rush to upgrade from the nexus 4.
I got $130 on ebay for my sprint galaxy s2. I'm guessing you could end up with some money left over after buying your nexus 4 if your sgs3 is in good shape.
Worth it, especially if your on t-mobile. You can root and flash older radio for LTE. For $200 +tax, etc. I cant think of any other phone more bang for the buck right now.
Still good and plenty of XDA support!

You've made a very good choice in buying the Google Nexus 4, it's a badass phone, trust me I've only been using it for about a month now, and it's really slick, the battery life is pretty dang good, the screen is very sharp you will not be disappointed that's for sure! I suggest you downloading Wug Fresh's Nexus Toolkit if you plan on rooting your phone or restoring back to stock, make life simple, its noob proof.
Don't wait too long or they will be gone.

I just got mine in the mail today, upgrading from my Galaxy S2, and it's been awesome
The price and the specs compared to other phones is ridiculous...

[Q] Should I wait for the Nexus 5 or get the Nexus 4 ?

Hello guys, Viper here from the ace forums . I'm a huge fan of Google's Nexus line up & was planning to get a Nexus anytime soon.
I was very excited about the Nexus 5 but the recent manual leaks disappointed me. I thought we'd get a 13MP camera & a powerful battery. But I'm dissappointed from what I've heard. The answer might be quite obvious as many people might say, wait for the Nexus 5 but I still wanna hear your thoughts as this well might be my last purchase for a long time. Awaiting your answers. Thanks to all !

The N4 is a very capable phone, and will get OTA support for a while. If you don't want to wait or shell out extra dough, I see no reason to wait for the N5 unless you really want the new technology.
I'd wait until the price for the N5 is announced. See if the price difference is worth the upgraded specs.
also depends on what features are more important to you. I would be happy with a 8MP camera. My Galaxy S4 has a 13MP, but I shoot at 8MP mode since the file size is smaller and faster to upload/send. For me a 1080 resolution screen is more important.

Hi, With the "Nexus 5 Hype" app at GooglePlay, you can get information about the last units of Nexus 4. Good luck. For me the Nexus 4 is better
Okay guys, for now I'll wait till I get to know the price of N5. Then on if I ain't happy with it, I'm pretty sure that the N4 prices would go down then. Will decide then as to which to buy.

The next Nexus will be announced soon enough. Wait until it becomes official and you can educate yourself more thoroughly with some hands-on reviews. Why base an opinion on a bunch of rumours? Why trust a big money buy on a bunch of unreliable leaks? Don't rush it, it's a matter of weeks now.
For example even if it's gonna be a 8MP camera, what makes you think it's gonna be accompanied by **** hardware? Do you prefer size over quality? The megapixel rally is a marketing scheme, nothing more nothing less. And what makes you think it's gonna have a bad battery? The rumoured number? The iphone 5 has a 1440 mAh battery, and I don't think you can say iphones suck at battery life. It's mostly about optimization.
On the other hand it could be a total failure, but you don't know yet, you're assuming. Some people are already trashing the phone, saying they're disappointed and that it's a failure and so on and so forth... get a grip, guys.
I've bought a nexus 5 nine months ago, that is in December 2013. I'm must say, this an awesome phone. Very happy with my phone. Thanks to all again.

buying N4 in 2014?

hello, I was wondering what phone to choose next to use daily and I thought of Nexus 4, but I'm a bit concerning since this phone is quite long in market and should I really think about buying one by myself? Maybe someone could give me advice about this matter?
I would, I bought mine in February. it's indeed for quite some time on the market but it's still on of the best and the support on XDA is unbelievable. I really love this phone!

How could anybody really tell if it's worth it?
Without the information of how much you can get it. How much other newer phones will cost you.... What are coming from.
For example a nexus 4 around 300 us dollars when a nexus 5 is new for 350 doesn't make much sense. But for a different price it can make a lot of sense.
I would say go for a
nexus 5 or a g2
In UAE both are for (400$) now so........
If can find a new n4 then.......
It have to be at 200$ if no, then don't buy it

Im coming from old xperia, so almost any new device would be an upgrade for me anyway.
N5 for $350 would be ok, but it is not possible for me to acquire it for that price (it is somewhere around $500).
I was considering lumia 920 /xperia SP and Nexus4, and all are basically in the same price range.
Well despite it's ****ty camera (compared to other smartphones in the same price range), it's the most obvious choice when it comes to functionality, performance, customization and support. If you can live with that, get a Nexus 4.
There are lots of similar threads, I don't see the point of opening a new one, considering all the phone in your price range are relatively dated ones too.
I bought mine 3 weeks ago and i am happy. 250 euros, new. The N5 is 330 euros.
Camera was bad at first, but the more i use it the better the photos are (call me crazy haha) so the pictures are very nice now. My ex-Note 2 had better autofocus and video, but the N4 camera is better in every other part.
i bought a nexus 4 on 1st january, u can also go for galaxy s3 , its quite a good phone with better camera and display,,
Sure the nexus 4 is a great phone with an unbelievable good support on xda. But i suggest to buy a Samsung galaxy s4, because it has some features, which were for some people are important. For example changeable battery, no softkeys , better display , sd card slot etc. But if you want a very good support and tons of roms then nexus ftw.

I'm constantly switching between my N4 and N5, and the difference is noticable, but only when you have both side by side. Nexus 4 is a very good device as it is, capable of handling most of what you throw at it. If you get a good price for it, go ahead. You won't regret it
get the neuxs 4, i just got a samsung s4 to compare it and i find it terrible, the s4 has alot of features but if your not staying on touchwiz your better off with a nexus, you can get used to not having a sd card.
After having a nexus4 you feel no need to upgrade, the n5 looks nice but i think battery isnt big enough for the 5 inches.

the reviews state its better on battery and faster to charge than the nexus4, reading reviews people expect a bigger battery due to the screen size, comparing other phones with 5inch displays, but vanilla android helps significantly
having a samsung s4, i was expecting the 2600mah battery to last a very long time, it was ok on standby and with touchwiz but all the bloat and features consume power, with the display on it was simple to trigger 1.8ghz and that would drain it faster, under clocking didnt help with UI tearing there are kernels and roms to help but i only like PA
i will wait for hybrid on PA before updating to kitkat
dont bother about nexus 6,7,8,9,10, if you want to future proof by a nokia 3310 and wait 10 years.

but a Nexus 7 and 10 already exist
Yeah it's much faster to charge and much slower to completely deplete the battery. Sure it could've had a bigger battery, but it could have gotten a high price too. People tend to forget the price of a nexus device and expect it to be the best of the best.
The nexus 4 is epic, I bought it in September and it is rooted and has a custom rom on it. It has quite good battery life, really good performance, and it keeps the stock android experience rather than Samsung phones clogging up the phone with TouchWiz.

But if you install a custom ROM like cm or Google edition, then its like a nexus with pure android + changeable battery+ SD card slot+ better camera and display. Don't understand me wrong ( i love my nexus 4 and its smooth and powerful, without any lags). I am not a Samsung fanboy but if i can choose today which phone i should take i would take the s4 or lg g2.

You can wait for a while and buy the Nexus 6.
When will it be released? somewhere around october/november? I'm afraid that would take too much time.
Trust me it's a great phone even today. I bought mine around Fall 2012 and although I had to change the battery once, it is still running extremely smooth with Kit Kat 4.4.2. I recently upgraded to an iPhone 5S but gave my dad the Nexus 4. He says it's really speedy and at times even faster than the iPhone. Good phone for the price.
