Alarm clock auto turns off after few seconds - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been going to work late for 3 days in a row and found out that the alarm clock of my S4 auto turns off after it goes off for 3 or 4 secs. I've checked all the options and it didn't help. My phone hasn't been rooted. Hope anyone can find the solution to fix that.

Hello I have the same with SGS5.
The only remedy is to DISABLE LOCALIZATION SERVICES
The scenario:
Localization services: ON ( not matter what type)
Alarm Clock set to specified hour
Alarm Starts with normal Sound
Device wakes up, on statusbar you can see Localization Icon blinking
Alarm is silenced but still on the sceen you can see options to disable it ( disable / snoze )
The only remedy I found is to disable GPS/Localization services completly...
Does anyone know BETTER solution not breaking the device functionality?
Thanks in advance!

Alarm clock feature not working properly

My alarm clock feature will not automatically turn on my MDA in the morning. Once I physically turn the device on, the clock on the today screen automatically updates to the current time, and the alarms go off. This was not the case in the past. The only software I have installed that could be causing the problem is Smartskey. Any ideas anyone?

TyTN bugs: (1) never sleeps, (2) multiple alarms

Hi,
I've got two niggly problems with my TyTN:
1. Despite having the power options set to 'turn off device if not used for' set to '2 minutes' the phone never actually powers off, the backlight goes off but I can still see the screen text and buttons remain active. (the only thing running in the background is Spb Pocket Plus).
2. Two days ago I set the alarm for 6.30 AM, it went off, i then adjusted it to 7.30 AM. This morning the alarm went off at 6.30 AM and 7.30 AM (I double checked the settings and there is only one alarm set).
PS. I also have a keyboard which doesn't respond perfectly to every key press although I am finding this is improving the more I use it.
I add point 3) e 4) :
3) Sometimes when alarm rings I can't see nothing... no Notification...just the ring...therefor I can't stop it!!!
4) It's happened two times... I set sound off... through comm.manager ( I'M SURE) and after a while when my friends called me the phone rang! It's strange don't u think?

In my TyTN this problem seems to be connected to phone module. In fact when the phone module is inactive, my TyTN correctly sleeps. Moreover when it is in charge and when the backlight off timeout is set to greater time than sleep timeout, I can observe that the device correctly sleeps.

this happened to me yesterday! Alarm ringing but no notification and no chance to turn it off!
After 3 hours the red led was still flashing and the problem was there...
Solution? Hard reset

3) Can happen if you go and remove alarms from the notification queue, for example memmaid can be used to do this.
Or use check notifications - see my post here http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=60426&highlight=
I just resolved by mammeid. MUST have software
I had this same problem on my TyTN, also could be fixed using MemMaid - the old alarms stopped ringing after deleting the clock.exe entries in the Notification queue.
However, the alarms STILL aren't working ok, because any time I set a new alarm when it rings I don't get any notification so I can dismiss it, so it keeps ringing until I delete it again using MemMaid. Any idea of how can I fix this?
Thank you.

I deleted all the entries using MemMaid... then I soft-reset and now I don't have any problem using alarm! Notification appears again so I can stop it!

I have exactly the same problem on my 838Pro now (used to have this happened to me on my 818Pro as well. Didn't know what to do, so I hard-reset).
Marques, are you able to try what El_Mar1ach1 has tried, that is to delete all Clock entries using MemMaid and do a soft-reset? Create new alarm using Clock and see if you get any notification.
I could have tried that myself, but unfortunately my unit is in the service centre, and won't be getting it back until tomorrow or day after.
I have a good restore on my storage card that will bring this problem back for me to try when I get my unit back, so that at least if this happens again in the future, we will all know how to resolve it.
Yesterday wasn't working. Today I tryed again the same procedure and it's back to normal. Working again...
Meanwhile I installed PocketAlarm (http://pocketalarm.iit-bsuir.com/indexen.htm) and I'm starting to use it instead of the system alarm.
Do you guys know any other nice alarm applications to test it out?

Unwanted time change

Hi,
Sometimes the clock on my HTC Touch HD is set at the wrong time. Sometimes minutes, sometimes several hours. This messes up my reminders and alarms; very annoying.
It think the clock is accidentally changed in my pocket; when I get a calendar reminder the phone turns on the screen. When I ignore the reminder and leave the phone in my pocket, the clock is big target to push accidentally.
I can think of several solutions:
-Lock the phone every time, which is annoying.
-Change some setting so the phone doesn't turn the screen on with reminders.
-Make the time/date change unavailable from tapping the clock.
Has anyone else ever encountered this problem?
And solved it?
Thanks!

I managed to change the time zone and had a shock when I awoke one morning
normally I leave my phone locked
I use s2u2
which has the time and most everything else I need displayed upon it
that works for me

Ok, to answer your query:
-Easiest solution is lock the phone every time - why is this annoying.
-Change some setting so the phone doesn't turn the screen on with reminders - Go to Start > Settings > Sounds & notifications > and disable alarms/reminders
-Make the time/date change unavailable from tapping the clock - Not sure if this is possible
-Use SU2U
Problem remains
Hi,
Thanks for the replies so far!
I have downloaded and installed S2U2. With that app, locking is indeed no longer annoying (I meant that the built-in locking is annoying; press and hold the hang-up button, etc.)
About the reminders: I don't want to disable reminders and alarms; I just don't want the screen to be turned on so I can't accidentally touch any buttons when I leave the phone in my pocket.
But.... Even with S2U2, the problem remains. Last weekend I had the phone in my carkit (Brodit holder, absolutely no buttons pushed). And without ever touching anything, not even receiving a call, the clock just changed about 20min. all of the sudden. I now think it has to do with mail being synced: my work email through activesync and my gmail. It probably syncs the clock of either of those mailservers. But then I still don't understand because the clocks of both servers are correct. And if the would be off, it would most likely be by a fixed offset (probably full hours), not random....
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Jasper
Try a hardreset

I have the same problem. My clock changes without touching it in pocket or something like that. I thing it could be some sync error. I turn off automatic time zone switching, hope it helps.
Sometimes the clock is wrong after downloading emails. But I'm not absolutely sure yet.
Solved
After turning off all time sync, the clock is now going ok. For the last two weeks, no problem with clock settings...

Alarm Problem - Can't turn it off

Hi,
I have problem with alarm. I have setup 3 alarms. All are from monday to friday.
1. 5:45
2. 6:00
3. 6:15
So at 5:45 start ringing and swipe DOWN do not turn off alarm. I can't silence alarm, only way to do this is if I turn off phone. This hass happen on stock ROM, now when I have rooted rom and Im wipe all data is same.
Have someone similar problem? How can I fix it?
Thanks for any help.
why 3 alarms? You can set the option of longer snooze if u whish. you can also set the behavior of side buttuns during alarm.
Btw. I dont have any issues with turning off the alarm.

I need 3 larms because snooze is not option because I can by accident turn it off and sleep few hours more
Im set side buttons to stop alarm, but it do not do anything, but Im not shure if Im first swipe screen and then press side buttons...
Today I will test another alarm application and see how work...
Also I have everyday setup one backup alarm clock at 6:00 because I don't trust anymore phone alarm clock(cca. 3-4 years when Im start using smartphones: QTEK S100)
tried the 3 alarms option this morning. swipe-to-turn-off works normal. do you have any non default screen lock, etc aps installed?

No I don't have anything like that.
I have installed:
-Better Alarm Clock (On Stock ROM Im not use it but with this alarm clock alarms normaly work)
-CacheCleaner(On Stock ROM Im not use it)
-bMonitor Server Monitor (On Stock ROM Im not use it)
-Paper Toss (On Stock ROM Im not use it)
-Racing Live
-Virtual Beer Free (On Stock ROM Im not use it)
-GScript Lite (On Stock ROM Im not use it)
-BatteryTime Lite
-AndroZip File Manager (On Stock ROM Im not use it)
-Google Sky Map
-Speedtest.net Speed Test
-EStrongs file Explorer
-Smooth Calendar
-3G Watchdog
-Barcode Scanner
-ConnectBot
-Documents To Go (On Stock ROM Im not use it)
-Google Maps 4.1.1
This is all what I have installed. Now on rooted ROM I have also A2SD.
Please detail the actual behaviour and expected behaviour clearly.
It sounds like you are expecting, upon turning off the first alarm, the other 2 will turn off as well. Even if you untick/retick they will say "Alarm sounds in 15 minutes" (or the equiv.).

It is simple. At 5:45 start alarm beeping and I can't turn it off. I swipe down on screen to dismiss it but it do not stop producing sound. Only way to stop sound is turning off phone. I don't want when I "stop" first alarm that other two is stopped to, for this I can use snooze...
Im fix problem:
-Delete all alarms in STOCK Alarm clock
-Download: Better Alarm Clock
-Setup same alarms
And today on morning Im get dialog with dismiss and snooze button and Im normaly stop alarm...
me too
Sync yesterday I have exactly the same problem: can't turn off/snooze/silence the first alarm and I have to turn off the phone to stop the sound.
I'll root the device this weekend, I hope that will fix it.

I currently use rooted ROM and is same so is not fix issue...
turn it upside down
I just use 1 alarm, when it goes off i turn the phone on its belly and its stops for x minutes. When I get up (turning it a few times) I turn it off...
I guess it is a BUG:
1. setup your phone for alarm
2. before the alarm started to be ringing, turn on the screen (wake it up by pushing the top button)
3. when the alarm starts to ring, drag down the slide button
4. enjoy the ring for ever )))
Reason:
when the alarm activated and starts to ring the sense not updated fast enough the slide down button. therefore the sense just "thinks" you want to unclock the screen, instead of adding the function next to it to dismiss the alarm
Had this happen to me this morning. Got an sms just before the alarm went off. After closing the sms box there was no way to stop the alarm, had to restart the phone. Very annoying.

I do the same with alarm, and this problem don't appear on my Desire.
Alaram Bug
I to am facing the same issue, is there any fix for this?
Happened to me this morning too, anyone knows if it works better with third party alarm installed?
I received an sms, handcent installed, coming back from bathroom it was ringing for about 15 minutes. I removed the battery...
That sounds like a pain in the butt . No idea of a fix but there are plenty of 3rd party alarms out there with much better functions than the standard alarm. better alarm clock , alarm clock xtreme and alarm clock pro v2 to name but a few .. they also have options to set a math question on wake so no need for 3 alarms a day plus can set lots of alarms with different times for different days . i use alarm clock pro and it removes the lock screen altogether wakes with the phone on main screen so shouldn't end up facing the lock screen bug!
There's an appbrain link to 2 alarms in my thread link in sig
had this problem once
switched to gentle alarm and fixed the problem
I have this same issue. About half the time, if the phone is in use in some form and the alarm goes off, there is no way to turn it off. Occasionally I get the snooze/dismiss option, but more often than not I end up having to shut the phone down to make it stop.
Would love to try any suggestions!

[Q] standard alarm wont turn off

Got a very weird problem. The other day while setting up my alarm to wake me up, my phone crashed. I rebooted, no problems.... at least so i thought.
Now my alarm keeps waking me up at 06:00am every day, while in my alarm settings all three my alarms are off! The alarm works normally, i can dismiss or snooze it.
What i tried so far: soft resetting and changing all alarm settings. no effect.
What i dont want to do: reinstall
Can anyone please give me the registry key for the alarm and tell me how to fix this? Thanks!
