SD card mount problem in recovery - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

hi to all,
i have a problem with mounting sd card in recovery. I tried to change recovery (CWM--->TWRP) but every time i try to install a package it said "can't mount sd card" or something like that. I tried with other sd card (kingston, transcend, toshiba, a-date) and only a few works and I don't know why.
Can someone help me, please?
P.S.
I tried also with different file system but nothing

Try to reboot into recovery and maybe then your problem will be solved.

I tried to boot in android and the reboot in recovery and I tried also to boot in recovery and then reboot in recovery but nothing. Few times it worked, but now it doesn't work anymore
P.S.
When I boot in android always it says "empty card or unsopported filesystem" but all works normally.
P.P.S.
I have rittik v 2.0

use only cwm 5.0.2.7 .Its the only one with no bugs.Except that you have to reboot recovery before flashing a zip,but thats no big deal.

5.0.2.7 is pretty good but 6.0.1.5 (I think) has no problems.
Bronxitas posted a zip for a fixed 5.0.2.7
On to the top issue, try booting into recovery while plugged into a computer/power supply.
Take out the battery and sd card.
Then reboot recovery. Put in the sd card and battery.
Reboot recovery again. There.
Note: before you do this, check your mounts to make sure emmc and sdcard is enabled.

i had pretty major problems with 6.0.1.5 like not even recognizing my sd card! (16gb class 10)
And i think it uses a different folder structure than 5.0.2.7 when creating back ups.If i remember correctly someone was trying to restore or open a specific file from a 6.0.1.5 backup and he couldn't because of new compression method used or something?

korekore1 are SD cards divided in classes? That means the higher the better? What's the biggest class for an SD card? Is this guy using a -51? People with the -51 have reported SD Mount problems in recovery.

You can change the backup selections as Pika said once in some option in 6.0.1.5 to restore the 5.0.2.7 backup but you have to change the way the restore is saved: tar, etc...

Yes and no, Class 4 and Class 10 are often the most common and recommended sd cards. Class 10 editions are newer to the market whereas class 4 has been here for a while. Class 10 achieves a faster R/W speed but class 4 is recommended for the novice user:
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2388408,00.asp
No one with the -51 reported any mounting errors. I would know if they did... Please don't assume anything unless you have one.
The hardware tree is virtually identical to the pro with the exception of wifi and bluetooth as well as processor.

not even before flashing zips with 5.0.2.7?You don't have to reboot recovery?

yesterday i tried to format a 512MB sd card in fat32 with default value and then i copied the zip file i had to flash on the sd card, i insert it in the phone then restarted in recovery and TWRP found it :victory:
the sd card doesn't have anything special, i don't know if it's for something i did...

I'm using TWRP since 15th April.
My sdcard jack was replaced on 18th April.
So.... I've tested "only" TWRP with the new jack.
Earlier (with the old jack) even TWRP also needed rebooting to actually read the sdcard..
My PC is not working, so I can't dare to test other recoveries.

Beware lag update and clockwork format

I'm really peaved. I was trying to format my SD card using my Linux box and it was giving me problems. I had it backed up. I gave up and used the Clockwork menu item to format the SD card. Be-FRREAKIN-ware! It wiped the internal memory instead of the SD card. Now I'm enduring my brain dead windoze laptop to restore it to stock... after all that work. I'm not impressed.
Dude, this happened to a lot of others who already tried to partition with rom manager.
Feeling so vibrant...
Yep. This information/situation is fairly well known. Clockwork does not have access to the external sd card.
it is all over every post for roms, etc.
don't partition with rom manager.
do a torrent serch for hirens boot disk. then boot from cd and use acronis disk manager. don't forget to put the memory stick in a card reader first. that's how I did it.

I don't get why people say that. It most certainly does. It's at /dev/block/mmcblk1 .... Or is that because I have the JAC kernel? I think I used it before I installed that kernel... I even wrote an auto-partition ZIP file you can flash via clockwork and it will partition and format your SD card for you. Worked fine. Check in the dev forum if you want to find my stuff.
it's not in the same place as it was on the old phones, but that doesn't mean it's not there at all.... ROM Manager's options just don't work with the new location, but you can do it with a little looking.

I was just going off what the dev for clockwork posted in his thread. He started that it does not have access to the external sd card. They very well may be a simple script issue within the app though.

[Q] Clockworkmod is pushing me to the brink of insanity.

*EDIT: I strongly believe ClockworkMod is working correctly, it is just this awful SD card giving me a headache. I will try another one ASAP.
Why hello there!
Currently, I have ClockworkMod 3.0.2.8 booted up into Recovery mode on my Asus Eee Pad Transformer running Honeycomb 3.1 rooted. Right now, I want to install a custom kernel.
I have been on this site, google, and many other sites troubleshooting my issue, but I am now giving up my quest. Here is the deal: When I try applying the update from a .zip file on my sd card, I get:
-- Installing: /sdcard/update.zip
Finding update package. . .
E:Can't mount /sdcard/update.zip
Installation aborted.
Now, hang on! I know, many, many people have encountered this issue. Let me tell you what I have done.
1. Re-re-re-reformatted the sd card in Windows 7 to FAT, and FAT32. I have also tried using SDFormatter V3.0.
2. I have 'show file extensions enabled' on Windows, so I do not have the common mistake of adding .zip.zip to it.
3. I have tried partitioning my SD Card in ClockworkMod -- Partitioning says it was successful!
4. I have tried formatting inside of ClockworkMod and to no avail -- It cannot mount the /sdcard....
So.. ClockworkMod DOES see my update.zip however!
The card I am using is a 2GB PNY SD Card.
I'm absolutely stumped. The only thing I have not tried it seems like is trying a different card or formatting the SD to NTFS or exFAT.
The card shouldn't be damaged? I can use it just fine, and it boots up ClockWorkMod as well.
The only files on the card are ClockWorkMod and Update.zip.
...The only thing I have not tried it seems like is trying a different card....

Try a different brand of card. SDformatter 3.0 is the way to go. While you're still at it, it may help to update your cwm to version 3.1.0.1 from here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1093818

Okay, I will be able to try a different card this weekend I hope. Yeah, I now have SDFormatter installed as well. Man, I really hope when I buy a 16gb SD, it will work for this kind of thing..
Have you also tried checking the md5 sum of your update.zip to make sure it is not corrupt?
I have redownloaded it several times and I know others are using it. I also tried downloading several other Roms to test. But it doesn't really matter; as Clockworkmod won't even format the SD card as it cannot mount.

You've done a lot of work that probably will turn out to just be a bad download.
It seems that CWM has found the file but it is not a valid zip. Check that the MD5 sum matches or just download it again and try.

But does it even matter what I have on the sd card? Let's say it is corrupt? Then why can I not even mount my /sdcard or format it in Clockworkmod?
I thought it was just a problem when trying to install the .zip. So when you go to the advanced menu and mount sdcard it gives an error also?

Yes, as I say above. Also, I guess this is worth mentioning: I am trying other ROMs, and when I click install a ROM from the SD Card, it says install /sdcard/update.zip EVEN WHEN my ROM is labeled something else entirely. There is no update.zip on my sdcard (yet there was the first time I tried this several reformats ago)

Try installing zip from sdcard instead of apply update from sdcard, then tap choose zip from sdcard, find the rom, click it,then scroll down to where it says Yes-install/sdcard/update.zip.I had the same problem, this worked for me.

I tried that as well. But, ClockworkMod is not picking up the name of my ROM (it is always update.zip) Which makes me think, it is the SD card's fault.
Wait a sec, do I need a microSD instead of a Full-size sd??? I have the keyboard hooked up...

Maybe you can search the SDCard in the bin and try to format with the SD Formatter
I had that happening to me before also. This stopped happening after a couple reflashes of the international version. SD mounting on recovery is still broken though.
Too bad the rom never stays operational for more than 1 or 2 hours... it always ends up in a reboot and bootloop until full wipe.

Just so people don't think it happens to everyone, I'm using a 16GB microSD card and it mounts just fine.
Before, when I had an Optimus Boston (Gigabyte GSmart G1305) with CM7 (2.3.*) and the card failed to mount, but after some upgrade it started working. With the 2.1 stock ROM it worked.
Can't tell if the problem was fixed by the CM crew or came from the vanilla android code though.

[Q] hudge problem with sd card

Hello. I have a hudge problem with my phone. Somehow it automatically unmounts and remounts my sd card for no reason no matter what rom I use. Sometimes it unmounts my sd card and don't mount for a month. Sometimes it gives damaged sd card error and asks to format it but when I insert my card to tablet and it detects no errors. What could be the problem? Can anyone help me fix this?

If it does happen with all roms you've tested, including stock 2.1 then your SD card is propably faulty. You formatted it under Windows?

Then you have to check different roms and kernels to see under which your SD card works properly. I suggest trying newest AOSP / SDSL or CM 7.2 by Tejas build three.
Maybe is the slot of your SD Card, Why?:
Using every ROM, same device and same problem = device
Used other device and everything ok = the "other" device
So, definitely your slot on your device is bad. Good Luck!

Just delete all partitions and make new (FAT32) with some Live CD if U don't have Linux on PC (for best get gParted Live).
Next put it in Your phone and partition again with CWM 6.0, or just use fat32.
Some customized roms mess up sd card if it has /swap.
Noticed this in some 2.3 custom rom, but don't remember name of it.

Best method for backups

I'm quite new to using my droid razor M so I wanted to know what would be the best method to do backups. I have I believe it's called CWM on my phone but I'm having an issue with it. When I try to do a backup to an external sd or choosing just backup and ends up saying there is no sd card found but I have a 16gb sd card in my phone. Am I doing something wrong or is there a better method for backups ? Thanks for your help !
