Best ROM / KERNEL

Hey guys I just got my second nexus 7 (dropped/shattered my first one) and I have been away from the forum since.
I just wondered what everyone thought as far as which ROM and kernel was best for daily use.
Honestly the most important feature for me in a ROM is the kill app feature (aokp or long press back).
As for a kernel, im looking for a well balanced performance/ battery life.
Thanks guys for your input.

If you know that already why did you start this thread?

I like Team EOS's nightlies. I'm using faux's latest beta kernel too with the new CPU driver. Can't comment on battery life personally (although faux's new kernel has reports of better battery life), but performance is quite nice.
May or may not be the best combination though, it's just what I'm using now.
I'm a big fan of Paranoid Android. It allows you to choose between phone, tablet, or phablet mode for every app. Also, it allows you to choose between small tablet, large tablet, phablet, and phone workspace.

That said, I definitely agree with ÜBER.

These threads always turn into bickering fests and drama which is never good. Nothing against you OP but I have to close this one as nothing good ever comes of them unfortunately...
Just search around and read all the threads and its pretty easy to get an idea of whats best or used by the majority.

Best kernel for stock rom?

I prefer balanced battery and peformance. Please advice. Thanks
All kernels work differently for different people. Try a bunch and see what works.

Franco kernel lets you overclock the gpu to what ever you want (416-750 and anything in between) so with that in mind you can create your own balance of battery vs performnce.
You cant overclock cpu but honestly it isnt needed.
Also with his latest release r25 th whol devive is much more responsive. Touchscreen etc.

Hi,
This one:

:cyclops::fingers-crossed::victory::silly::silly: :silly::laugh::laugh::laugh:
And yes I'm happy with this
Just try them all out. Different people will give you different answers as to which kernel will give you the best battery life. Why? Because battery life is subjective. Everyone do different things with their phones. If you're a heavy gamer, your battery life will not be so great. But if you're a person who only browses the web, read articles, text and make calls. Then you'll have a long battery life.
on stock rom. can change the kernel ?
Not using any kernel will give you the best battery life.
Yea don't use any kernel at all, just the ROM. Heck, just don't use your phone, that'll give you great battery life lol.

So the big question is "what's the battery life like on nexus 5x"?

Guys my deciding factor on whether to buy 5X or not is the battery life on 5X. To all owners... what the battery life like on your new 5X? Can you comfortably last full day on one charge? I usually check emails, watch some youtube and read some web pages, no gaming. What did you guys experienced on 5X?
Thanks
