Hi,
What is your charge time?
Mine is 2 to 2 and a half hours.

Which battery and/or charger are you using? After coming from the S2 I have noticed a large decrease in charging time with my S4, so this is very surprising to me.

Well I tried charging from my computers use port at work today only rise 20% in 2 hours

Well, laptop's USB port is not a charger - it's too weak for such a large battery.

...*facepalm*. You're not using original charger and you're complain that the one you use doens't works so well? Do you know that original charger is pulling 2000mA out, while your usb-port is pulling between 300mA and 500mA (depends if it front or back usb-port and the quality of usb port). Do the math, 2600mAh battery and 300mA / h. Full charge should take: 2600:300 = more than 8.5 hours.
With original charger S4 recharges from 0 to 100 in 1h 49minutes. If you take a solar charger it will charge even slower (like 48 hours for 0-100%).
Next time try to use your brain before complaining.

Your Samsung power brick has the cable physically attached to it? If not, you can just use a longer cable with the Samsung power supply.
The included power supply is 2 Amps, whoever is getting long charging times, make sure you use either the original Samsung power supply, or comparable in amperage supply.
Mine charges in 2 and a half hours.

Mine takes 2 to 2.5 h to charge from 0 to 100 percent. You should only use the new white charger, it's more powerful than the black one from s3, it's output is 2.0A ,old one is only 1.0A. Newer use other chargers as they may mess up your battery or phone.

I have to check the amps but based on google the Nokia Charger is at 1.3 Amps. I need to remind myself to switch the short Samsung to longer Nokia cables.
Is it safe to get a higher Amp charger, the one that the iPad uses to charge my S4? No drawback execpt for a faster charging time right?

Take it this way, grilling meat takes for example 45minutes to cook completely. You take it to some powerful furnace like 2000degrees for 5minutes then what do you expect from it to give you back? Well cooked meat or some burned meat outside and maybe raw inside?

put it this way... the s3 comes with a 700ma charger. it charges a bit slow. and has a 2100mah battery.
the s4 comes with a 2 amp charger. thats 2000ma. it doesnt charge slowly if you use this charger. i personally am going to pop it on this charger when i get home from work and then keep it on my 700ma charger overnight... no reason to waste that powerful output, it will simply waste electricity.
make sure:
1. you use the charger that came with it
2. you use a cable thats as long as (or shorter than) the stock charging cable. longer usb cables tend to charge the phone slower.
also keep in mind usb ports charge any phone slowly. the s4 will charge even slower on them because the battery is oversized compared to most.

I'm using note 2 charger and if I surf Web while charging, literally it is not charging at all.. battery is not going up or down.. Note 2 was not like this.. i could charge battery even if I play 3d game..

its just a software issue. S4 is just released and the chipset is very new. u people should wait for sometime...its a matter of few firmware releases from samsung for S4 and all the issues will be resolved. just like the latest issue resolved the over heating issues.

using an Apple/iPhone charger? ?

Is there anything wrong with using my iPod charger to charge my nexus 7?
It says 5v 1A, and it's an aftermarket white cube iPhone/iPod charger.
I plugged it in for a few seconds and it showed the charge icon.
Some people say it's better to charge slowly, and others say you might burn up the charger, so what's the deal here?
Also, does Apple have some kind of funny voltage thing? I seem to recall something like there's +3v or something on the data pin? Will that mess up something with long term use?
And while we're at it, what about the standard USB wall chargers, 500 mAh? How about those?

no it will just charge slower. i dont know where people are getting their info that a lower amp charger can ruin your nexus. if the amp is too low it just wont charge. So when i nexus is plugged into my desktop to transfer files and charging it can get damaged?
ive been using 3 different chargers on my nexus 7 and they all work but at different rate. the lowest one is a 700mah motorola car charger that can still charge the tablet running maps and tethered to my phone. It charges very slowly though.
sometimes i plug it into my 1amp samsung charger to charge it overnight and would charge the nexus is about 4-5 hours. Im not sure if this is true but i read that using a slower charger is better on the battery. just be careful using cheap chinese chargers, those can ruin your device if you get a bad unit.

I'm not say all Chinese chargers are bad but just be careful with it. If your charger or tablet is not getting too hot while charging and stops when the battery is full then it's probably fine.
Will charge really slowly but will not damage. Why not using the n7 charger?

won't hurt it, I use many diffrent charges depending on where I am @ the time, mostly I use a cheap china dock that charges @ 1amp, a bit slow but works fine.

My Nexus 7 literally takes hours to charge

My Nexus 7 battery takes forever to charge. And this is even when I use my stock cable to the wall charger. I know it takes around 3-4 hours to charge it from dead to full but for some reason mine is only HALFWAY full at the 4 hour mark and I usually have to leave it on the charger the whole night/day for it to be fully charged.
I have no other defects on this product except for this one. And I never dropped it or anything and I'm currently running 4.1.2.
Please help. I know I can't be the only one with this problem.
Definitely use the oem charger (2 Amp compared to 500-850 ma for most) and the supplied USB-3 cable. It will charge faster. After the long initial charge up to 100% mine has been charging pretty well. If I'm down around 10% it can take up to 4 hrs to charge, but the battery is huge compared to most phones. It sounds like something isn't working normally for you. Have you tried turning it off, then charging?
Yes sorry I was unclear in the original post. I'm using everything stock when I charge my Nexus 7. I don't use any other cable. And yes I completely turn it off when I'm charging but yet it still charges horribly slow.
I would test another comparable charger just to make sure it's not the charger or cable itself.
There is a lot of threads that talk about the charger and the possible ones you can & can't use (Nexus 7 is picky). I use a HP Touchpad USB plug and a cable. It does the job well :good:

I keep mine on, so I can check the % on screen. And long as you don't use it while it's charging, it won't take longer.
Trust me I keep everything that I charge off so that it can charge faster and not be using any power while charging. It seems no one else has gone through this from this thread though. It sucks that I have to get a new charger when the stock charger should be still working fine and perfectly.
As far as i have read the informations on / in box. It said to use the OEM charger only. I didn't really measure time when charging, but it always took maybe 2-3 hours max to charge the device completely.

Slow charging speed via USB

How are those who've got their N10 finding the charging speed? Mine arrived yesterday and has been charging very slowly, as the reviews had said.
In six hours last night on charge whilst left on standby, it charged about 20%. Is everybody else finding a similar situation?
I'm looking forwards to the pogo-pin chargers/docks being released, which will hopefully charge a bit faster! If anybody knows how to hack something together to make use of the faster charging speed on the pogo connection then please do share! :good:
Of course, you have to look at the amperage and watt of your power supply. Even among the AC powered chargers, they vary greatly, and here you are talking about charging this behemoth with a measly powered USB.

Not messed up, just physics. There's an awful lot of resistance in a 9000MaH battery, and a standard microUSB (or even full-sized USB) connector can't handle the amperage that a faster charge would require. Which is why most big tablets had proprietary connectors up to this point.
But guess what? Google and Samsung knew this, it's why the N10 has one too, we just don't have the cable for it yet.
Pogo charger is coming, supposed to be at least twice as fast. Don't know why it was delayed, but most likely either a certification issue, or worry about Apple suing for it being too much like a Mag Safe connector.

Are you saying a powered USB hub is charging it quicker than the mains charger supplied?

I don't even charge phones via normal USB on PC anymore, let alone a tab. I've found the charging time on the N10 to be ok, provided the screen is off and also if I'm downloading something it seems to slow the charging down. Other than that it's not lightning fast, sure, but I'm ok with it. And so much the better when they release the pogo charger.
charged mine over night yesterday from 10% to full wall mains, but when the screen is one it doesn't seem to charge just maintains current charge which is a bit annoying

Try turning anything that uses power off (i.e)...turn the screen brightness the lowest it will go, turn the tablet on airplane mode. Turn the sounds off.
I find that helps my phone charge faster, maybe this will help with the tablet.
Are you talking about charging via USB on a PC, or via the PSU?
Through the PC will be very slow at a maximum of 500mA, but the PSU should be able to power it? My N7 and Galaxy Tab 10.1 had 2A chargers - what does the N10 come with?
I am regretring more and more buying this. I haven't received mine yet but the amount of pixels is kind of ridiculous. I would have been happy with 1920x1200 with that beasyly hardware. Saw a review that said their battery only lasted 4 hours because of the insane power the screen sucks away.
Also the fact that this pogo charger will probably cost $50+ and it is something that should have been standard either way.

It means that charging faster will reduce the overall life of your battery because the battery and phone doesn't support it. The Galaxy S5 supports USB 3.0 and Qualcomm Fast Charge.
Also, the fast charge on your Ace 2 just means that it will draw maximum power from USB ports. It doesn't change charge speed with a wall adapter.

Use the original cable and adapter. If you think that's too slow to charge, like taking up to 5 hours, that's unusual. Let your carrier or the store check it for you.

[Q] Phone charges downwards help!!!

Yh so basically when im
Using my phone whilst charging it charges downwards.
It doesn't charge downwards. It's simply because you are doing something so intensive that the power from USB outlets cannot cannot draw enough power and so it compensates by using battery power as well.
seriously?
USB charging is only about a 1/5th of the power from charging from a power point.

Are you charging via the included Samsung charger or computer?
Computer USB only gives out about 0.5 -0.7A @ 5V which is not really enough to charge the phone while in use for anything.
For me, battery will drop even with the screen on.
However, USB charger gives 2A @ 5V which is enough to do some intensive things while not loosing charge.
I have samsung charger with cable (both white) and its the usb charger one not the fixed charger one
Try using this app to find out what current you're getting from your charger. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2076078
Stock charger and cable with stock kernel should show 1200 mah with the screen on. If you aren't getting that, try different cables in case you have damaged your stock one. Beware though... I have found some cheap generic cables perform very very badly. You could have different results with a non Samsung charger, sometimes they will work in a similar way, sometimes the kernel detects it as a PC connection and limits the charging current. It depends on the internals of the charger and if there is any resistance across the data pins.

Not true.
USB charging is ~500mA
AC charging is ~850mA, and with a fast charge kernel you'll get up to 1200mA.

You could have different results with a non Samsung charger, sometimes they will work in a similar way, sometimes the kernel detects it as a PC connection and limits the charging current. It depends on the internals of the charger and if there is any resistance across the data pins.

Try using this app to find out what current you're getting from your charger. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2076078

Hi ,
In this case does not apply BUT if we were talking about dose ( like in Xrays) the term mah it does exist.
Not really important and related to this forum but good for general knowledge or a trivial pursuit game

This haooens when you USB CABLE is faulty.
Get a new USB cable (i would prefer a different brand than samsung because their wuality is cheap).
Your phone might be charging slow to.
Download the galaxy current charge app and check for the voltage thing. Youll get the answer for yourself.
Thank me if i helped.
