Hello,
after googling for about 20 hours, with some hours restless sleep between , i now decide to ask, because i am unable to solve the problem without help.
I can install [ROM] Cyanogen(mod) 10.1 beginning with Version 1 up to Version 2 Update 2. Every version after that fails with the following:

E:Error in /sdcard/*insert-failing-version-here*
<status 7>
Installation aborted.
I googled and found a lot i could have done wrong, i repartitioned my sys, cleaned, tried different recovery versions(cwm & twrp), got back to install [ROM] Aurora ICS 4.0.4 for u8800 - Version 5.0 update 21, which all worked out very well. but as soon as i try to install one of the versions 3 to 5 of the [ROM] Cyanogen(mod) 10.1 i hit the same problem over and over. It has to do with carrier settings on your phone. Ex. AT&T and movelint but restrictions to certain partitions. I'm looking for a solution.

as you can read in my first post, i tried both
that was one of the many options i found in the net and tried out. i guess i tried nearly everything i could find and what was mostly save, ok inbetween i thought three times i have bricked my phone, but i could always convince it to come back to life
i dont know what the difference really between v1/v2 and the later not working versions is. i tried to compare the install-files and the relevant seemed to be the same in that case. but i am really a noob when it comes to android development :cyclops:

i just tried and it worked...got back to stock though...my way how i installed...
1. backup your system
2. wipe data/cache/dalvik
3. install latest cyanogen
4. wipe data/cache/dalvik
5. boot cyanogen
6. back to recovery
7. wipe data/cache/dalvik
8. install ics
9. wipe data/cache/dalvik
10. boot ics and have fun testing
what i can say is that ics is just awesome. when it all works fine i will use it as my daily rom. but too buggy now to use it.

good TuT but my computer wont let me delete updater script so i cant replace it with downloaded version and when i just put the update-script.txt normally in the folder it says file is broken.
I think this rom would be way better then any other custom rom. Am I wrong?

If you don't need camera and radio (camera only VGA and Radio don't work) this ROM is good, but if you need them install MiniCM7 or another ROM

Stable means that it runs without reboots or crashes. It doesn't mean that it is bugless

You're so cool! Status 7 error disappeared forever, but his friend Status 6 error appeared. I tried to install it from stock 2.1, GingerDX, MiniCM7, GingerCruzt, kuyaDROID, and i tried both kernels with every rom, but this f***in status 6 error appeared again. I had two options:
1: I can f*** myself with my phone
2: (As I did) Ask you.
What should I do???
I really like the pure stock unmodded CM7 so please help me!!!

Status 6 error means that update.zip is corrupted. I found one missing line in updater-script. If you want try this one. I don't have my phone here so I can test it now. I will look on it tomorrow
EDIT: If you are installing it from Stock 2.1 ROM you don't need to replace updater-script

I can't post in the development section, so I have to put it here. I am trying to flash the alpha preview of the ICS CM9 ROM. I was getting a status 7 error, so I commented out the first line in the installer script using Notepad++, and re saved, per ker2sgr's post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1490831&page=10. Now I am getting a status 6 error. I also tried re saving the file with different encoding (ANSI, unicode), and got the same result. Can anyone help?
Does it say anything more in the error message?
It (CWM) just says "installation aborted, and the status 6 error code. From what I have read, this is an encoding issue. I tried editing the file with Windows Notepad app, as well as with Notepad++. I tried flashing the ROM as it was originally written, and it gave the status 7 error, even with the assert check disabled.
This pre alpha build is for the thinkpad only and even then its not intended for all thinkpads just us and uk

I should have provided more info. I have a US version 32GB, with the latest update installed. Koshu helped me to solve it. I had only commented out the first line in the updater script, when I needed to uncomment the first two lines. I got it to install now! Thanks!

The first build hv no phone.apk, wifi not work and no data, how then this build ? Can you provide more changelog details ? It is good hv MIUI v.4 running on our device. Thank you

Still running 2.4.20 MIUI... was tempted to try ICS but now seems everyone is looking toward to Jelly bean. Only feature I care about in Jelly Bean was the voice actions.
Other than that I'll take MIUI any day.

Good work, man. This latest ROM is definitely better than previous ones. Aside from the typical things that are not working, like camera, for example, the transitions and response is considerably better but obviously not ready for extensive daily use just yet. I will provide more detailed report later on. But just wanted to say "thank you" for your hard work.

Yes, using StreakMod recovery.
1) Do a Nandroid backup.
2) Clear Dalvik, Cache and Factory Reset from StreakMod.
3) Factory reset from main recovery menu. This step isn't always necessary, but doesn't hurt.
4) Flash this zip. Also flash gapps and superuser.zip from the other ICS thread for Google Apps and root.
5) Reboot and enjoy ICS MIUI!

I got a DS 5 from my bro yesterday and i want to flash ROMs on it.
But i still don't know after i've finished ROMs on Ds 5 , is it easy to downgrade or move back to the official ROMs?
Firstly i got this one in 2.2 and now i got updated to 2.3.3 from other xda thread. So Pls answer me whether i should try flashing these ROMs or not ? Any help appreciated..! :laugh:

I used the att CM file which is compatible with the Bell version in Canada.
