New UK Updated Firmware - Galaxy Camera General

Just received a new OTA firmware update today
GC100XXBMD1
Only a small download <30Mb and the only changes stated are the usual generic "Stability Improvements"
I lost root (unsurprisingly) but it was at least upgradable on a rooted stock firmware.
CHANGES:
I noticed that I am no longer being asked to select the memory card in the camera app on a reboot. This was a major annoyance and thankfully gone.
The Google Play Store has been updated
There is a new Smart Mode "Action Freeze" ... I think.... Can anyone confirm if that was already on there? I can't remember seeing it before.
If I find any other changes, I will update this thread.

Action Freeze is already available since it GC was released with Android 4.1 1

Is Cf-Root working fine on it?

can we expect updates or 4.1.2 will be our last FW?

I would love to see some Galaxy S4 features even if it's just Sound & Shot

Days ago!
Some improvements visible in the s-memo
What is the improvement??

Yup it was available days ago via KIES. But today i was able to update it via OTA.
Aside from it being zippier, i see that there is not much lag in S-Memo when using the pen as compared to before updating.

even i saw that the update was available a week before it came via OTA on Kies. But my problem is that I couldn't connect in the compatible mode (PC studio mode). I tried troubleshooting as well as disabled USB Debugging. Can u tell me what's the problem?
You don't need to connect to PC for this.
From your Note if you have registered for software update you can get the download. If not go to settings> about> on the top you can register and choose wifi or data as your default to update.

My German version (in the US) got 2.3.6 yesterday.
Mine's still on 2.3.5. I manually checked for updates and said there are no updates available.
Android 2.3.6 KL3 Changelog
I updated my Indian Samsung Galaxy Note yesterday via KIES. Simple if you follow the instructions. Entire update process takes about half an hour, variable depending on your internet speed.
Changelog (observed till now)
1. UI is now faster. Animations do not lag as much as earlier.
2. Automatic Music Off Timer in Settigs menu of stock music player
3. Detailed brightness controls in Browser Brightness settings in stock browser
4. Battery - appears to have a better battery life. Can confirm after testing for a few days.
updates are not working for me
I got my Notes (india) last week and root it on very next day, after that i was trying to update from note itself by going in >>>>about > siftware update.
it was downloading a file of 17.3 MB but unbale to update and prompting me for upadte via kies or contact samsung center.
So i install ther stock rom with no root priviliage still its giving me the same error.
Any one have any idea about it.
Anyone having apps incompatible after upgrade? I am unable to use a certain app 'Tap Log' which is now incompatible and the developer says it's nothing he has done.

Why don't you just go ahead and use KIES to update?
I used kies to upgrade, but from the posts here it appears that the same update was also available later OTA. Does this mean, next time there is an update, I should rather wait for the OTA update and not bother to get illustrate update via kies immediately?

Yes OTA usually release sometime later to Kies.
OTA have advantages that it is very fast, n replacing/adding only new/modified files of ROM, thats why it is 17MB only while Kies replaces complete ROM (550MB appr)
- Kies is advisable when you found some bug in your device, b'coz it replaces complete ROM

1] How OTA updates work ? If theres an update and i wana download it will it incurr GPRS/mobile internet charges?
2] Does the new update have a new feature where when you use S-Memo the below capacitive buttons are disabled ?

1] you get push notification on your mobile (if it is checked in Settings->about phone-> software update->Auto update and Push Messages.) Otherwise u can keep checking it manually (What i m doing right now in the hope of KL7 )
Obviously it incurr data charges that your service provider will charge you as per the plan. Wifi is recommended though.
2]yes, this issue has been resolved in 2.3.6 KL3 update. Back capacitive button is disabled until u take away pen from the display.
3]No, not yet, and m not even expecting it, just wishing for it to be smoother...

Weirdness with GPlay updates

So since I've had my GNote I've found that I quite often have to install nearly all updates twice...
Its weird.. as soon as I see an update for any apps I've installed I tend to compulsively update it immediately.
Then a few hours or a day later, the exact same apps have updates again. and it seems to be pretty much ALL updates.
Any idea what's going on here?
I had exactly the same. Was on stock kka initially then updated ota to xxla6 with phone provided by O2.
Lost my root cost of fiddling, so reinstalled kka via samfirmware, then updated with mobile Odin back up to la6 again from samfirmware. The double downloads has stopped, but more interestingly, the whole market interface is slightly different, for the better. I have 2 screens on my apps, installed and all, plus am able to filter comments by my device and latest version, never had these options previously...

This is because you have the new google play store (3.5.15) vs the one you have prior to do the clean install (3.4.7)

Have you managed to download it, and verify if you got ICS ?
I was chatting online with Samsung support about the availability of the download, and checked checkfusdownloader while I was online and founf the update - but the support person says it is not an ICS update. I hope they just don't know what they are talking about.
Visitor: Product Code: GT-P7510UWCXAB Latest firmware: P7510UELPL/P7510XABLPL/P7510UELPL/P7510UELPL Modified: 08/08/2012 10:54:47 Filename: GT-P7510_XAB_1_20120808105431_sr3nx29c5t.zip.enc2
Visitor: Can you please tell me if this contains 4.0.4 - or is it just another 3.2 update
Smith: Its just a update to the version you have on the Tab.
Visitor: containing what exactly ?
Smith: We do not have the information on the update as it is through air.
Visitor: so it could be 4.0.4 then - you just don't know
Smith: It is not 4.

EDIT: sammobile have it uploaded now - so it looks like it is finally here ... now if only I had my TAB with me
Oh, sorry for the delay. It took a while to download and then I was playing with it.
For those curious:
Build Number- IMM76D.UELPL
I must say, This thing runs soooooooooooo much better. It also feels a bit more cohesive with my SG3. I think I'll keep it stock for a while. Also, I notice I can uninstall the bloat they included with it originally now. Not just hide, but remove Amazon, Kindle, etc. crud that I don't think I could before. Would be nice to add smart stay, Allshare Play, and face unlock eventually. I'm a little spoiled with some of the things on my SG3.
Downloading it now. US/TN.
Same its downloading now
Just did the check update on mine and also got the upgrade box. 254.01MB

No, i just installed the update via OTA. Did not wipe device, however you will lose your homescreens if you are using the native TouchWiz launcher.
Checked mine a few hours ago, got update available.
Did a reset for a clean update.
Now when I check, no update available.
Checked my wife's tab, same thing, not available.
Checked some other forums and some are also getting not available.
Could Samsung be staggering the update to keep the servers from getting overloaded?
I just checked for update on mine and no update is available.
Is anyone else getting "Your device is not compatible" with Chrome? What the hell? It's 4.0.4
edit:cleared market data and it's available
If you are not seeing the update try hooking up to Kies

Did anybody get an OTA update?
Is ICS coming OTA or via Kies? I live in Mass. and as of 11:30 a.m. on 8/13 my tab says there is no update available. I rather not have to bother with Kies, so I'll wait awhile longer.
^My update notification popped up as soon as I unlocked my Tab this morning.
I've been stuck on stock due to lots of ffc use, and thank Christ the keyboard lag is fixed. It's like a new tablet.
Any advantage to going from the UK version to the US version? I live in the US, but flashed the UK version a while back... is there even a difference?
Just my luck, android 4.0 for the tablet is released and suddenly kies stops working and won't recognize my tab, and i also get "No update available"
I plugged it into my computer and the update was available through Kies. Took about 30 minutes for the update to complete, and so far I am liking it.
I have the US GT-P7510 flashed with the ICS 4.0.4 UK version, is it possible to install the US ICS over the UK version using Odin, or do I have to rollback to HC 3.2 then flash this new ICS?
ok its official ICS IS HERE, i was using custom roms but then decide to go to stock i was using ROM HTJ85B.UEKMP i try to use the update from within the tablet but did not work as soon as i connected the tablet to kies bam updating and now its official ICS is here, after the update everything just ran by itself no need to clear nothing. pass the word around and if anyone has the ability to actual rip the whole rom off please do so cause i know for many kies does not work. it was a long wait but its here
I gave up on the OTA update as it has said no update available all morning. Currently connected to Kies and performing the upgrade. Crossing my fingers everything goes smoothly.

Software Update Notification for P3113 Currently on 4.1.1

Just got home with a brand new P3113 running JB 4.1.1. I saw a notification symbol I hadn't seen on the one I had just returned, a garnet red p3113 that was also running 4.1.1. It says "Software update - confirm that you have read and understood the..." and when I select it it asks me what country I'm in, then asks me to accept Samsung's terms and conditions for Software update.
So, I assume this is an OS update (have never had a Samsung phone or tab before). Anyone know what it is? 4.1.2? 4.2.1? Is this really brand new as of today? Anyone else gotten it?
I didn't go ahead with it as I want to be sure I don't end up not being able to root or anything. Any reason not to do it?
ETA: How do you take a screenshot so I can take one of my current firmware?
power + volume down
That is may be 4.1.2
We wont be getting 4.2 that easily
Sent from my GT-P3100 using xda app-developers app
So I should have no future problems updating to (presumably) 4.1.2 as far as rooting and custom ROMs?
Yes , There are workaround methods to OTA update your device even after rooting , do search general thread and u will find one

Thanks but I'm not rooted yet. What I'm wanting to be sure of is that if I take the OTA now, before rooting, that I will be able to root on whatever the new version turns out to be. I haven't found any documentation on what this OTA is.
I thought there would be more interest that there is an OTA for a P3113 running 4.1.1 since I didn't find anything about it and the Tab I just exchanged didn't get the notification so it must be a brand new OTA.
