Yes, hovering your finger over some messages shows the preview, others don't. Strange

ahh yes i thought that too but then i figured it out.. if the message say you open up messages and there is a message from fred.. you don't open his message but if the message already exceeds the small horizontal preview rectangle then when you air view it will show the whole message.. if it dosn't exceed that rectangle then airview won't work since you can already see the whole message.. hehe smart samsung

Spot on, Gelat0, you are absolutely right, I have just tried on my phone again and indeed it works on the longer messages. :good: Still loads of new things to learn about the S4, some of them might seem insignificant but so clever.

Clever indeed.

After the most recent update, text entry box is too large.

Anyone else have this problem? You can't even see what text you're responding to as the text entry box has added a very large space above where the typing begins.
Any ideas?
Keep a piece of paper & pen to hand & write down the last received text message for reference.
Or re-flash & don't update.

Can you provide a screenshot?
I don't seem to have any problems with text like this.

I appreciate your sarcasm, but my issue with it lies not in remembering what I'm responding to; it's simply annoying.
I hear ya, it's just how it is. I dunno why they'd change it but whatevs. There's other roms to choose from.
Does it happen in portrait mode too? I have it like that but only in landscape mode, it was one of the things that really pissed me off on a x10 mini pro (with the keyboard in): not being able to look at other stuff.
If it's a chat, people could be responding and not being able to read the new stuff is just dumb.

Air View Flaw?

Anyone find that some of the messages in the text message app sometimes do not work with airview. Once you delete the thread though and text the person again, air view will work on that thread again. Probably just an early adapter glitch
mine only works if there is something extra to display, like if the whole message cant be displayed as a preview in the smaller window
Oh I get it now, it makes sense

Anyone Else Have This Messenger App Issue?

Sometime if I exit the stock sms messaging app while its on a conversation screen with a contact, and then re-enter it (whether it be by turning screen off and on, or jumping to and from another app), the conversation jumps to the first text message I ever sent the contact...in some cases that is days ago. I then have to scroll all the way down to see the new message they sent, or to see the most recent reply.
Did I explain this good? Anyone else have this issue?
I see it as well.

Happens to me also, if you touch the right side of the chat box you can drag the tab quickly to the last message, it's no fix but it's faster than scrolling.
Yup.. annoys the heck out of me. Almost went with a different messenger, but some of the messages that go out using Voice don't show up in different messengers, but show up in stock.
I too have this issue every once in a while. I can't figure out exactly when it occurs.
Another issue with messaging that I experience is when I am in Conversation mode, and hit the Back button, I am pushed out of the application rather than back to the list of conversations. These functionality issues are annoying but nothing root and stock messaging can't fix.
Weird.. I have not come across this problem yet.
Yea it happens to me too. Not a huge deal but it is pretty annoying.

I actually sent an email about this back-button issue to LG's R+D team earlier tonight, I'm curious if they actually respond to inquiries...If they would just be more consistent about the top-left corner of the app being a back-button, it would allll be well.

For a work around, if you just close out the keyboard and then go to enter text again, you are moved to the bottom of the conversation instead of the top.. Annoying.. but faster than scrolling IMHO.
I did not found this issue with my G2 or maybe i didnt reproduce the exact way u do.
But mine always jump to the latest sms

Yea its not a big deal...but hella annoying.

[Q] How can I configure the messaging app to show more of the thread?

When I hit Messages, the content is too large, can I shrink it down in font size or padding so I can see more of the conversation? Default Rogers, btw and probably for the next little while.

On mine if you press the volume key while in the messaging app it zooms in and out and makes everything smaller and shows more. Try that and let me know )

Oh I'll let you know! Perfect!!!!! Thanks so much.
I was zoomed way in and could not even see all of the last response.
After a little digging around I see the threaded conversation is in what are called balloons but there is no obvious way to get rid of balloons. lots of wasted real estate. When typing a message the editing box seems too tall and the word picker is too tall.
But all in all your volume zoom solution at least makes reviewing conversations 500% better.

Box around notes
My problem with Snote is that when I click to start writing with the spen a blue box appears and all writing is done in that box. When it goes to the next line the blue box expands to include that line.
How can I get rid of the blue box.

I would like to ask some questions, if that's okay with you? It's mostly so I know exactly how things appear on your end and to make it easier to answer your questions.
First, are you clicking the button as you are writing in SNote? Have you tried writing in SNote without clicking the button?
Does the blue box appear at the bottom or in the middle of the screen?
If it's possible, grab a screen shot and attach it.
Which firmware are you on. ?? I am using my script notes and it's super fast.. Best ever.. .. Any idea on when our devices ll get kitkat??

Attached is a view of what I mean. I have the P605. I dont click the stylus button. But you can see the blue box around my typing if I put in another line the blue box expands. I wrote a lecture for half an hour and when I went to review it I could only see part of it. there should have been 2 pages but could only see one.
The blue box appears as soon as I touch the screen with the SPen.

Thank you for that screenshot! It was a very helpful thing.
That bluebox is for the text input mode, and it will show up pretty much automatically when S-note is in edit mode. When not in edit mode, as shown on the first attached screenshot from my Note 3 (since they essentially share the same S-note other than Templates...), you should see no blue box.
You WILL however, see a blue triangle at the bottom right and possibly the upper right. Try tapping that with your pen or finger. The end result should be the same as the second screenshot, a pop up window. You should be able to scroll and find the rest of your lecture that way.
...but yeah, that mode will end up treating that box as one continuous, yet scrollable page. It should keep everything, though.
Hopefully that helps, but if I was way off base, lemme know.
Can you tell me a bit more about what your problem with s note actually is so that I can compare my problem with yours??

That was exactly my problem. I have found the you CANNOT write for half an hour taking notes and expect the snote to move to another page when the first one gets full. That was how the note 8 snote worked and that is the one I prefer. I don't want to have to keep creating text boxes just so I can have separate pages. IMO the new snote has gone back to the stone age. I don't use it any more, gone to lecture notes.
