Browser Sounds - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Is there a way to disable the annoying sounds from the stock browser like when I open a new page it says ' loading page'
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using xda premium

Either I am the only one who uses the stock browser or nobody else is annoyed by this??!!

I use dolphin. Its way better than stock. I hate the airview and eye scrolling crap that never works for me.

What web browser do you use?

Hey guys, I use Opera mobile web browser and I love how simple it is and how it looks. However, I noticed how several websites are cramped to only one side making it almost impossible to browse normally.
I have tried Dolphine browser but there is just too much in and and when I swipe side to side instead of the page, the side bars pop up. It gets really annoying.
I wanted to see what you guys general use for web browsing.

Stock browser is perfect for me. Nice and simple. I love it.

I use Dolphin Browser, though I know what you mean about the sidebar. I've found that if you scroll up/down first, then to the side, the sidebar doesn't show up as often.
I was using firefox but I switched back to the stock browser.the stock one runs much smoother.
Used Dolphin for the longest but just went back to stock. Like the simple clean interface and the side to side scrolling on dolphin just started to drive me nuts.
Stock. Tried Opera and Dolphin but went back to stock.

If you never use the side bars in Dolphin, you can disable the swiping side to side action in the settings. It helps make Dolphin more usable.
I'm using Dolphin HD, although I do find navigating around a page to be buggy sometimes.

Using Oprah mobile, You have a chance to receive free gifts, Oprah just gave out xbox kinet to her viewers.
Haha, didn't even see that spelling mistake! Silly me.
Funny thing, I never truely used the stock web browser. And the dolphin sidebars are the biggest pain in the butt!

I also use dolphin and have disabled the side bars because they drive me nuts. I'm a fan of the tabs which I find a great feature that isn't on stock.
Yeah, I love the tabs but I prefer the way it is on opera mini, plus opera is really nice and simple.

i do. skyfire rocks, and can watch most flash content with it.
Skyfire. So far it's my favorite but I'll be interested in trying firefox once it's a bit further along.
I have tried out several with the notification bar hide feature because of the screen burn in issues. For me dolphin hd can be really slow. Anybody that's using it without issues change any of the settings to get it to run properly?

New firefox browser = smoothest browser?

Past Firefox has sucked hardcore, but now, wow. Its smooth, no chopping zooming out either, it reminds me of the stock galaxy s2 with the bounce effect.
Try it out. Tell me I am wrong
What browser is smoother in your opinion
I'll give it a try, thanks

I think it's amazing except for one major flaw which causes me not to use it.
The address bar doesn't scroll away when your scroll down webpages, it takes up too much of the screen real-estate.

Dolphin is good in writing, but too unreliable. Tabs didn't load a lot of the time it didn't even show up at all. Had to keep changing the current from desktop to phone just so i could post messages on different sites....the list goes on.
Any way to back up the bookmarks like Dolphin? I installed it when the stock browser was fc-ing on bookmarks and found the import/export feature makes life easier.
People should really give boat browser a chance. Very good speedy browser! :good:
completely agree with boat browser. I don't understand, why is it so low profile, I have tried other popular ones like Opera, Dolphin (& mini), stock, etc, but Boat seems to be the best of the lot
I think dolphin browser hd is really good along with stock s3 browser.

I use chrome because I am all Google and signing in allows me to save bookmarks easier. I might try this and see how well it mashes with flash. I can not stand the stock browser for some reason.
Anyways the only thanks I am giving is to the one who presented us with the new version being out. Thanks OP!
By the way flash is still available for us

For Firefox and Chrome, try loading engadget's desktop site. While loading, try scrolling down. You will see a lot blank white and takes sometime for it to load. Stock loads much faster.

Stock web browser freezing

While using the stock web browser on multiple sites it frrezes and won't let me scroll or zoom but I can retype the web page, reload but upon reloadjng the page freezes up again while truing to scroll the page.
I know this cant be normal. My phone is stock. Ive turned off the air gesture and im still having the problem.

I know it's all a matter of personal preference, but I've never understood why anyone would use the stock browser. It just feels clunky to me, particularly the tab switching interface.

You can try and clear the data/cache for the stock browser, that might be a fix.

OP, I have the EXACT same symptoms than you. And I also have them on Chrome. I am getting desperate, cleared data and cache and it didnt work. I actually prefer the stock browser because chrome makes my text in different sizes (this forum, for instance) and therefore harder to read, but not event chrome works.
Did you get to fix it? If so, how?
Thanks

Note 3 stock browser peformance

I seem to have an issue an I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing a similar problem or knows a fix. Basically the stock browser keeps hanging while loading Web pages. It seems to wait a bit longer than normal before loading pages more often than not. It happens both on wifi an hsdpa. I've noticed chrome doesn't have the issue at al. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Slightly off topic but how the heck do you do a rollover on a button? In any browser? I like the stock browser but I hate having to long press on a button then hit back on the soft key to get it to work! I'm no iFan but I do have to commend apple on getting that one thing right. Why does it take these android devs so long to figure this out lol.
I think the main issue is with android fragmentation, where as Apple only have their iDevices.. Gives them more control.
Op I get my note 3 later, will test it out and try a few solutions.. Hopefully there's a silly fix somewhere as I was planning on using stock browser as it's always performed well!! Have you tried dolphin? That's a quick snappy browser imo.

I've been playing with the stock browser for the last day or so since getting this phone. Super smooth and fast. No hiccups or laggy periods. And I also agree the new tab switching is nice compared to older versions I've used (I came from a note 1). The only gripe I have is that you can't seem to load new tabs in background. Now, every time I open a new tab, it loads upon top. Irritating, although I'll have to get used to it.

What about kinetic scrolling? Is it as responsive as note 2? Also I am experiencing this annoying issue when I click on a picture on facebook mobile website it is displayed in very small size. Chrome does not have this issue neither does the stock browser on note 2

Also something that anoyes me a lot in the note 3 is the auto fit pages.. It seems to have disappeared even in chrome. Really a bummer .. With this gorgeous screen you are left out with pages that you have to slide from side to side to be able to read a zoomed page :banghead:

AOSP browser
Fastest browser I've ever used.
Smoothest browser I've ever used.
Fash works flawlessly with it.
Quick controls ftw.
Havent had a FC yet. (Reliable)
The only issue I've ever had with AOSP is on some forums it weirds out and wont let you add attachments and the word selector acts trippy. But other than that AOSP is flawless.
Edit: Also just to add the interface is very lite and simple which is a plus for me.

No, not as of yet. There was a bug back on 4.2.2 that caused fc when fullscreen was activated but I havent had that issue in 4.3
Chrome Beta or Naked Browser.
Chrome because it syncs with all my other PCs that use Chrome and Naked Browser cause it is simply the fastest browser I have used. Not much on looks, just pure speed.
Internet browser is a tad faster but I prefer the latest version of Chrome version 30.0.1599.92 since it does a better job of correctly displaying some sites that the Internet browser has issues with and is also very smooth and stable now.
I use chrome and also I use android browser from the playstore. Its basically the browser we had on the note 2 which was great. The stock browser on the note 3 doesn't sign in with Google anymore. I'd highly recommend checking it out. Just search android browser in the play store.
