It's all part of the learning curve. I'm coming from the 3D too, but have friends with S3s so I have had opportunity to poke around and knew about the easy mode.

Nice find .
Well, it's ok for an Android device. I don't like the looks though, no keyboard, no d-pad.... but if I had the extra cash, I wouldn't mind playing with it for a couple of months.
Maybe you should post the pics in the OP?
fail to register at se-nse.net, anyone can share at this topic?
Yea, please post the pics, I'm not about to make an account so that i can see the pics on the other forum.
im sure the typing you put into that post whining about it, you could have registered and been looking at them, imo... but.. i'm sure someone will have them up at some point

Oh, c'mon! Killerskincanoe remember that time you beat me to posting the link on the X2 thread? You did it again! I came to post less than 10 mins after the Engadget article, but still you did it before me!
I promise you that when the first mention of the X4 comes out I'll be impossibly vigilant! I will not sleep until I beat you to it! 24/7 without sleep if I need to! Only refreshing Engadget and peeing in a bottle near the PC from now on for me...

have you ever skinned an ENTIRE operating system of any kind before... ?
it's called DEVELOPMENT for a reason..
Yup. That's just a testing unit with a random Android build, I guess.

this device is rumored to be release on January next year, which is similar to X2
when i see there is a complete UI on X2, and on the other side X3 is still just a fundamental system at dev kit level, i feel a little bit upset...
ok, my bad, may be i expect too much...
the camera still sucks.. how can X2,X3 camera never surpass my old k850.... why wouldnt it got XENON flash

Ha! You can have all those inferior sites. I'm lurking in Engadget although my thumb is sore from the refreshing already...
the 3D pic were in the first thread already. I so like the phone. But it's true, they have to put an UI. I like HTC Sense, so if there is no proper UI I rather hav Hero200.
How is it with Android phones? Could I, f.e., flash a HTC Rom (android) on a SE Android device?

Great video...kudos to Samsung and the Galaxy S! Success...
I'm eager to see how the keyboard feels.
I have both T-Mobile and Sprint.
That video has been around for months, no pun intended it's actually a replica of every other Galaxy S video with a different color and the Epic shown instead of the the other 4 phones (unlocked Galaxy S has one as well). It's a cool video I've had the tune stuck in my head since the first time I listened to it back way before the launch event.
Only thing I noticed was missing from the first video was no back side shot to verify if there was a flash or not.

There's a flash. It's about 1cm under the camera lens.

Got a chance to play with one last Sunday. It seems like there are a lot of really bad pictures of it on the net. It's actually very nice looking. The phone is very, very thin. It's the exact same thickness as my HTC Hero. The keyboard keys are raised just the right amount, with a good amount of "clicky-ness." I'm impressed with it. It feels like the high end device that it is.
how did you find one?

Samsung Epic on Sprint?

Saw this phone at the Sprint store the other day and really liked the version of Android it was running. Seemed like the icons and display were more vibrant and it also had the weather inside the notification menu. Is there anyone who has ported this over to the Evo or is it even possible?

I believe you might be the only person that wants touchwiz ported to the evo,

This.
what a great thread to start my morning with
Watcha talking about willis, well the epic my young friend has a different kind of screen its called super ambled , it also has a different version of Android its called touchwiz and its designed by Samsung the phone itself its better hardware wise my girlfriend has it , but as far as I can see the evo has 10 times the support c:
lol he's not talking about touchwiz. he wants the bright screen that epic has. That's called super amoled, and is hardware based. Unless you know where to get these with custom kernels for the evo then... no

Now now... to be fair he is half right.... super amoled and 2.1
Type amoled on your evo and see what the auto correction does, and ofc I know sense is a user interface same as touchwiz, but I'm trying to educate a noob if I explain it the way you expect me to explain it, he would be in the same boat as he was before h started this thread, and yeah its not a different version of Android ofc, but hey if I made your day good for you. So happy I could start everyone's day off with such humor. Guess I shoulda lurked in the shadows and searched it when I left work but was curious. Thanks for the replies and info. I mainly wanted something similar to the notification bar with toggles and weather but knew there was something different about the display. Anyway, thanks for the info...

that might be coming in cm6
If I understand this correctly, there's a downside to superamoled's color vibrancy - incorrect color reproduction.

My wife has the Epic 4G and I cant use that phone for more than 5mins or so. If I do my Evo looks so crappy and washed out. I agree, that screen is gorgeous (color reproduction faults and all.)
The closest you can get on the EVO is Myn's ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=793471
Install that and turn the brightness up.
This thread made my day! Thank you!
And yeah, no one will port touch wiz. Try an alternative home on the market, there are a few good ones mentioned above

Epic Donut! New rom coming soon...

Hello all,
I know how many of you have been looking forward to another version of android on the Epic, so I'm here to let you know that Epic Donut is coming!!!
My rom will feature:
-based on android 1.6 donut
-No turn by turn navigation, so if you get lost, that's your problem!
-No JIT processing, because we don't want things going too fast
-Touchwiz ported from the Samsung Behold 2 (Awesome!)
-deodexed and pre-rooted (of-course) so you can customize
-no 4G support
-other special tweaks to make it feel like we are using a phone manufactured prior to October of 2009
Let me know if there are any other features you want included/excluded and I'll see what I can do.
Make sure the gps doesnt work!
Sent from my shoe, I mean....Epic shoe... I mean Samsung Epic! http://mobilehighway.blogspot.com/
Noted. I'm also including the option to dual-boot Windows Mobile 2003

lolz, best thread evar
Could you make it give us a donut too?
That would be awesome
Noobs, the lot of you! I've got Appletart ready and Bagel in the works.
Andrioid 0.0(Appletart)
Features: A clean fresh piece of blank white paper to scribble what ever comes to mind.
Android 0.1(Bagel)
Change Log: Adds blue horizontal lines to the paper so you're not writing all willy nilly up and down the page.
Feature Requests for 0.3 (Cinnabon): Choice of horizontal line colors. Blue or black.
This may actually be the best thread ever created...
Also blue lines please!
Awesome! I missed it on my Moment (went from 1.5 to 2.1) so I'm eagerly expecting the limited possibilities you bring us!

Sorry, there's a bug we're not admitting to with the mapping cache. You'll need to erase and redraw your vertical lines each time you want to map.

Oh yeah, here's hoping we get a port of the data lockups. I miss that feature from my Moment.
OK guys, alot of great suggestions. I think I've really made a breakthrough. I've replaced the dalvik virtual machine with this actual machine (see attached). Also, I've modded the genie widget into an actual genie that will make you actual doughnuts.
PM me about the appletart version. Maybe we could make a delicious appletart donut version.
Lol, I love this thread. The best of the day. When will we see support for a backspace function, or rubber eraser?

Does this support copy and paste?
My friend's Win7 phone can do it so Donut should be able to too! Oh wait....

Perfect! We can use Appletart's paper feature to wipe your new machine's cache (3 times of course) after it produces its output.
Remember folks, wipe your machine to keep it clean!
now that's what i call a funny joke
Guys, I have some bad news. I went to get dinner and when I came back my cat had eaten my actual machine. I guess I'll have to go with my original idea of constructing a flux capacitor. Please PM me if you have some plutonium or a Mr Fusion.

I have some but if we are going to be conducting business I'd much rather do it in a public setting. Can never trust those PMs. My name is Marty Mcfly and I think I can help you. My one stipulation would be that if we go back in time, please prevent me from entering into any sexually intimate situations with my own mother.

OP, this is the S3 forum. Don't make a new thread about it. If you need to post something like this, post in the General Thread!
It's a shame the only use Samsung could come up with for their flexible display was to chat up a girl......"let's see how the future of this technology plays out...."
