Light Flow app on GS4? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Anybody using it? I just tried to set it up and it told me this (see screenshot). I don't have talk back or any of those other things enabled so I'm not sure what's the deal.

Yea I installed it and got the same message so I decided to just uninstall it for the time being.
I moved onto other things and will come back to that later.

I didn't uninstall... I just exited the app. Guess what though? Just got a gmail, and sure enough, led was blinking the light flow color at the light flow pace. So seems that it is actually working despite that odd message...

Yeah, Light flow, LMT and others use the Accessibility services and only one can be on at a time I believe. Although I think if you have root it may be different with light flow.

There was a problem with past samsung phones where even though talkback was disabled the phone still announced the selection. Does this happen? In the description of the app theres a link that states Samsung fixed the issue but carriers never pushed the update fix yet.

Have you guys tried Light Manager instead to see if that works better? I like LM better than LF for my SIII, but the S4 is a different animal and LF may work better, just throwing that out there to see what you all thought

TRUE.... okay, well, hopefully both apps will be developed to work properly on the S4 soon! I know it took months for anything to happen with either one because they were trying to get data directly from Samsung - the dev of LF even went so far as to order an AT&T 747, and he lives in the UK! That would suck to have to go through again....

Oh please don't say Samsung have messed up with the accessibility service again. The leaked s3 4.2 android works quite well (without TalkBack)
Is the message actually true? Does it then go on to work (lightflow and the things it says won't)?
I hoped not to buy an s4,but if I need to to try and progress things I will.

You should be able to have many (rooted or not). I've a collection of phones and will have lightflow, tasker and many other apps running on several of those phones.
The standard android source code certainly allows for it as I've checked it out extensively.

Can someone with an s4 on hand test out the free version of light flow to see if there are issues? Thanks

Works for me.. And I have all my air view and motion features working.

I'm using Light Manager without any issues....... yet........

Light flow enables some aspects of talk back on my AT&T galaxy s 4. When light flow is enabled in accessibility (with talk back disabled, of course), if I select a picture in the gallery app, a very annoying voice tells me, "one item selected" even if my phone is set to silent. With light flow accessibility disabled, this doesn't happen. I can only stop it if I freeze Samsung and Google tts services with titanium. I'm not sure where else the talk back is inadvertently activated due to light flow.

I can confirm this happens to me as well. I re downloaded light flow and this time clicked "ok" on the screenshot in the op, and now, if I go into gallery and select a photo, it speaks "one item selected", etc. I even have talk back DISABLED under all apps.

Light flow is far superior when it works. Many more options, like ending led on screen on, etc. With light manager I have to go into the notification drawer and dismiss the notifications to get led to stop blinking. I much prefer a quick screen on and off.
That being said, I'm using light manager for now because it doesn't have the talk back issues.

New EC07-#3: Wish List

Very very satisfied with this upgrade.... JOB WELL DONE!
I only have 2 wish list;
1: STAY AWAKE - option in Application>Development>. I would like this option back. This was good feature when phone is connected to USB or charger. Especially when driving.
2: Notification Font Color - Very hard to read with light Gray background with White Font. Maybe different Font Color????
Does anybody has any wish list?
Thanks

Absolutely!
And I would add another wish:
2: STOP APP VIA LONG-PRESS - option in Application > Development > Stop app via long-press (Long-pressing the BACK button will kill the foreground application)

These are features that exist in CyanogenMod and I would love to seem them here, too.

I've been looking around in the framework, but i'm not sure where it is... I'm thinking Res/layout/status bar_expanded. But, the only hex I see there is for black, which makes me think it's actually for the header, not the text itself... Wanna educate me on where to look?
EDIT: Found it... I think. res/layout/status bar latest event content... I'll find out for sure, tomorrow.

I too was wondering why there was no option to never sleep while charging? And also why wouldnt it be under display options? It seems to be related to usb debugging....I used to lose connection all the time when using pdanet or wireless tether until I used an app to keep screen on so this would be awsome to implement.....

Notifications

OK I'm really frustrated trying to find a solution. Is there a way to get the screen to light up for a few seconds to a minute or two or keep the soft keys on the Note to light up and blink interval when I get any form of notification, mostly need for messages, miss calls and kick messages and emails. I have tried every kind of app, Noled, MMF, Tasker and a few others. The closest I got to was Llama, which lights the screen up but only for a few seconds like less than 3 seconds.
Really need a solution fast, I keep missing my notifications until for more than an hour, I am on PA rom 0.4a and not sure if BLN works, installed the app but doesn't seem to work, someone please solve this issue for me and the rest suffering in silence.
So surprised how such a basic function of screen lighting up when there is a new notification was available in as old phones as my previous N97mini but can't even have it decently working by downloading apps from the play store. I am so tried of Googling, have been doing so for several hours and I am sick of it. Someone with the solution or with their personal solution please post on this thread and share.
Sorry for the rant but really need this fixed soon, once again I'm on PA rom 0.4a

Instagram Problem

I have been searching trying to figure out an answer. When I use the LUX filter when editing any picture on instagram it throws a bright green tint over the whole picture. The LUX is the little sun looking icon when you are editing and usually it brightens the picture. I use it often and miss it.
I tried re-installing and clearing the cache. Can anyone verify that it is doing the green tint, or is it just a problem with my Att S4?
Screen shot attached:
Also I noticed if you go into camera setting and try to activate "Voice Control" the camera app force closes. Really not a big deal but I like that feature.
Mine too.
Well at least its not just mine. Bummer though, I emailed instagram about it not sure if its on their end or samsungs.
My camera doesn't FC though. It opens the voice settings in the settings app. Try going to Settings-My Device-Voice Control and see if you can turn it on there.

Ok so the issue with the LUX feature (the little sun) survived today's update... everyone go here

the more of us that report it the more likely we will get an update patch...

LightFlow discussion

I remember recently that there was an alternative to LightFlow being featured somewhere (forget if it was XDA or Reddit or somewhere else).
Does anyone remember it? I believe it was a bit more lightweight than LF.
EDIT: Decided to make this the general Nexus 5 LightFlow thread since that's what it pretty much became.

But eventually I moved back to light flow because it works better for me in KitKat.
I prefer light flow. I like being able to set it to dismiss the light as soon as I turn my screen on. Quickest way to get the light to stop blinking.

[Q] Read LED Notifications

Hi all. I have been doing some searching around for a way to get the rear LED to light up in any way shape or form for apps, specifically SMS.
Has anyone found a way to get it on AT ALL using apps like Light Flow or Light Manager? Stock or a custom ROM? If you have gotten it on in anyway at all, please let me know! (And how you did it please)
I spent some time emailing with the LightFlow dev last night too, and he is interested in getting control over it too. So anything to get it on is great.
Thanks everyone!

Just tried, same results.
I have it half on with this app http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1958939
Working on full access. Ill keep everyone updated.
To use that app install it and enable it in accessibility. Then open the app and go to auto locate. Choose your LED here. "button-backlight1" is for the left, "button-backlight2" is for the right. It will probably just show you up to the word "button: though. But it appears twice, once on the left of the screen, once on the right. Choose either side. And that's it. It will flash when you get a notification.
Light flow works for me rooted on stock Rom. ...you have to enable it in settings then enable it in the setting for the specific notification You want. .. but now blink or pulse. ....tell the light flow dev to add this option to his app

I sent him an email about this a few minutes ago. But light flow also only lights up half of the ring, the right side to be specific. If you use the app I linked above you can get either half (left or right) working and it blinks!
Ill let you know any updates I get, but at least it is half blinking now!
Worked some more with the light flow dev. We have gotten the FULL led ring to light up! It is currently solid. Ill post more as it develops.
In the meantime here is a picture of my device, using lightflow, when I receive an SMS. Enjoy for now!
