[Kernel 3.0.xx][ROM]CM 10.1[4.2.2]for GT-P1000[GSM/N/L/C] - Galaxy Tab General

Some good news for the good old G-Tab! Cdesai, koxudaxi, humberos have finished debugging the 3. kernel for now. I've made one new build yet (it was posted from OsitKP, because i've not enough posts for yet). This build is here. Help our great developers to enhance the kernel and test it.
Some details to the build: build number: 4.2.2 JDQ39E, kernel: 3.0.70.
All Thanks to alroger for his tutorials, to cdesai, humberos , angel666, koxudaxi, pawitp, jt1134, sbradymobile etc.
Sorry for my bad english.

First results on testing the kernel:
1. Charge works only when Tab is off
2. Some Advanced settings don't work
3. No USB connection to PC
4. Wi-Fi works
5. BT works partially, just like with 2.x kernel
For those who wants to try the new kernel for GT-P1000 I've attached two CWM zips with 3.x and 2.x (for rollback) kernels

6. Sound is ok, also with headphones, bt headphones not tested.
7. Voodoo works not?
8. Monitor colors are different than before
9. Power consumption seems better then before:good:
10. Some users report that vibration works not (with me also)

Are you saying that tab doesn't charge when on?

It seems like the tab consumed to much power if the tab is on... I'm not sure, but i think galaxy s has or had similar problem... Probably the new kernel from alroger ( 3.0.74) fix it.
Alroger has reported that external sd is not mounted and tab has no usb yet. I have these bugs too..

Alroger has made its own build yet with kernel 3.0.74 and humberos fixed furthermore the bugs.

For my P1000 this kernel is much better:
Charge works now
Tab connects to PC by USB
It seems to me that tab now isn't as hot as yesterday with 3.0.70 kernel.
Emmc is mounted, but once after some gaming I saw it unmounted.

3.0.75 kernel for P1000
storm31 has compiled new kernel - 3.0.75.
Have not tested too much, but charge and emmc mounting works. As well as connection to PC. Youcan try attached recovery zip for P1000.
Warning!
The kernel contains broken recovery. To rollback you have to flash previous kernel via Heimdall or make a full restock.

Help meee

I made no special steps for emmc mounting. The only thing I can assume is I've flashed last ROM (with 2.6.35 kernel) after restock. While last kernel was installed from CWM. By the way last ROM i use was compiled by storm31 who as well compiled 3.0.75 kernel (it's not mine!).

My emmc cannot mount also. OsitKP has one build with same old components, i have one mit newer components. It is possible that they have one or more bugs. We must wait for humberos, he is the "big man" by kernel developing. I would like to mention that the kernel 3.0.xx is very experimental. The next bad thing is that recovery seems to be brocken

3.0.75 kernel compiled by storm31
CWM zip, now with working recovery.
As for emmc it is my fault (I meant usial work. But when connected to PC it's not mounted).
Vibration and display colors are not fixed yet.
And charge is very weak.

Kernel Modules for 7310

Edit: these are useful for stock 3.1 and should not be used with my kernel. See my kernel post for current capabilities etc.
Please use this thread to post kernel modules for the Samsung Galaxy 8.9
The kernel modules I post are compiled from the model 7310 WiFi-only kernel source released by Samsung for kernel 2.6.36.3 and Android 3.1. I do not know if they will work on any other model besides the 7310, but you are free to try.
You must have root access and mount "system" as read/write.
Create a folder called "modules" inside of /system/lib and copy the kernel module (.ko) into "modules"
cifs.ko - to mount shares from Windows, Linux and Mac
-View attachment 7310_cifs.ko.zip
-Unzip cifs.ko and verify with SHA1 65c5cc08ee5a4878fc99060885ecaefd6961a9f
-CifsManager from the Android Market works well. Goto "Settings..." and check both "Load cifs module" and "Load va insmod". The default path will be as shown (/system/lib/modules/cifs.ko)
View attachment other_7310_modules.zip
nls_utf8.ko 3b066984e0dca109df4fe234ea7b91f396448e58

Please give "thanks" if this was helpful. If you are looking for a common module, please make a request and I will see what I can do. I have a regular job and a family, so I can't promise how long it will take or that it will work since I may not have the hardware to test it.
Thanks motley. A tip for other noobs like me: don't download through Tapatalk.

this is great, thanks for working on the tab 8.9. i think many of us 8.9 owners are a little sad we have so little development going on.
thanks , it works both on stock rom and overcome's rom, well done !!
Hi _motley,
do you know how to mount modules for east asian character folder ?
it seems involved with nls_utf8 module , i'm using cifs mgr...
batch load both cifs.ko and nls_utf8.ko from CIFS mgr , not work,
but western character works normally.
Alternatively , I use script to insmod , then works fine,
anyway , it works , thank you a lot.
Hi
Thanks a lot !
Any chance to get the NTFS Module as well ?
Thanks for testing, glad to hear cifs is working.
kevinchg, not sure on your mounting issue when also loading nls_utf8.ko, I don't currently have a way to test it, but I would make sure that you have your path's and options setup correctly in cifsmanager. Don't quote me, but I think you need to separate the two module paths by a semi-colon and I believe you also need to specify the option "iocharset=utf8" (or something like this) within your share configuration.
fishton, the NTFS module has been added. Let me know if it works for you. Can't believe I left this one out...would like to use it myself.
Thanks ! Will test it tonight and let you know if it works
I'm curious why you guys need the modules. As far as I can tell, they were built into the kernel on my 8.9 tab. I had no problem mounting cifs/ntfs shares and didn't need anything to do so.

Which model do you have? Perhaps you are mounting network drives with ES File Explorer or something like that that has SMB built-in? Neither the config from /proc/config.gz or the defconfig from the kernel source I downloaded from Samsung have any of these options built into the kernel. I definitely can't mount using cifsmanager without loading the cifs.ko module.
For NTFS, we are talking about mounting NTFS hard drives via USB. Haven't tried that yet...perhaps the other gentleman will report back if he tries.
Hi
I tried your NTFS Module yesterday and have been able to load the module. But unfortunately, I haven t been able to find the proper command for mounting my disk.
Could you advice me ?
Thanks !

With the latest versions of my kernel, you don't need any modules...it's built right into the kernel. Only the stock kernel and the first alpha release of my kernel needed modules.

Almost works with .35 MIUI too. Phone boots & runs ok but automatic screen rotation has to be set off (it mixes horizontal & vertical "layouts" --> the screen is always 90 degrees off). Can't say if it fixes Atmel problems cause I have a Synaptics screen.

Nope, sorry, I don't do the kernel stuff. I guess someone could come up with a workaround though.
lets try
is franco can do something ins this kernel will be perfect!
Kernel by itself is no good for development. You need sources. Best idea I have had was to pull the relevant commits and fixes from DZO's 3.08 ICS kernel and Buckingtons ICS .35 kernel and put them into the proper .35 source, but it takes more time than I have to do. Plus, I am not sure we really have any need for a gingerbread kernel now, ICS is where it is at dev wise sad though that is. We have skipped a kernel iteration due to Huawei mucking up the sources and official gingerbread so much.
https://github.com/dzo/kernel_huawei
https://github.com/franciscofranco/kernel_huawei
https://github.com/TomGiordano/kernel_huawei/tree/2.6.35-ics
This one might be a good base:
https://github.com/TomGiordano/kernel_huawei
It is just about pulling the best bits from the kernel trees and testing, testing testing. FJSferreria? had a guide to compiling the 3.08 kernel source from DZO which should work fine for the .35 kernel too.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1577876
Where this kernel could work is in extracting the relevant defconfig from it to build a working .35 kernel from. instead of 'make u8800_defconfig', we would pull the config from the phone, back it up, copy it into the build directory and rename it to '.config' and just run the 'make' command.
Can anyone pull /proc/config.gz and upload it for me?
Cheers

I'm currently on 2.2, because B526 had reboots related to wifi being on and the screen turning off. I'm looking to go back to 2.3.5, but I need a 100% stable system. I tried all kinds of guides. I got a folder with all the stuff I tried to root B528 with, it includes: DooMLoRD_v4, rooted boot image, some Chinese rooting tools, and about 4 different set of drivers. Th problem I have is the drivers won't install, I get an error: "Driver not intended for this platform." If I could get the drivers working, then I could root.

UBUNTU TOUCH v0.1 FOR i9100 ALPHA
KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS IS VERY VERY UNSTABLE AND MAY BRICK YOUR PHONE IF YOU'RE DOING SOMETHING WRONG!
This one has been build by @ bluefa1con so all the champagne & beer bottles goes to him. Is the same build as mines! I decided to release my version when I have most of the bugs fixed. HERE IS STILL PRESENT THE CHOPPY TEXT BUG! We think is caused by hardware-composition, we don't know right now.
Let's get started. First of all, WIPE YOUR DEVICE & FORMAT /SYSTEM, /CACHE, /PRELOAD! Then:
1. Download this build of Ubuntu Touch: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-to...c-demo/quantal-preinstalled-phablet-armhf.zip
2. The both files from here: http://goo.im/devs/bluefa1con/ubuntutouch
3. Copy them to your internal / external memory. Note that dual-boot is not yet supported!
4. Wipe everything you can.
5. Install CM10.1 zip - DON'T REBOOT!
6. Flash quantal(...).zip file - AGAIN, DON'T REBOOT!
7. Finally, flash hdpi_overlay.zip and then you can reboot safely.
8. Enjoy!
Report any bugs here!
So far it looks stable over the UI. Perfomances are not so great because both of us we can't manage to get working all the 2-cores. HW acceleration is disabled because is very buggy also the audio. Wifi works, cellular + 3G also. It is not very useful right now but as far as this will get more and more updates, it will be very cool .
Note: DO NOT FLASH IT INTO OTHER VARIANTS OF i9100!
Thanks, I'll keep you updated.

FYI guys, I have tested it only as a second rom (like boot2gecko). I test it right now as a primary rom and I have problems with the text as well. I don't really know what is happening but the screen looks like there are some ''dead'' pixels. You cannot read the entire text. I tried different kernel entries but no success, also wiped cache / dalvik cache. Let me see how fast can I fix it.
PS: try bluefa1con's build. Mine is not so far from it.
@bluefa1con, let me know if I can post your build on the first post w/ full credits to you. It take some time to make another build right now but I'm uploading the current images on zippyshare.
EDIT: audio fixed but choppy sound!

[KERNEL][I8200N] Baroni-Kernel Alpha

I can give ABSOLUTLEY no gurantee!! All you do with your phone will be on your own. I'm not responsible if your phone will brick or whatever...
Attation! This kernel is for the I8200 variant ONLY... the I8190 is absolutley not compatible !!!
Kernel should be work also for I8200/I8200Q/I8200L-Variants, but can not be gurateed as the basis was I8200! If it works then a notice will be fine!
If you are not sure about the process, the data are important on your phone or you need it as a daily phone, then LET IT BEE, and wait for the messages that it is safe to use. Its important at the beginning that users with knowledge tried it at first !
Changelog:
12.02.2016: Long time ago, but now after a lot of investigating some new things comes up. Check what was done
05.01.2014: I try to work on the kernel over x-mas in my free time, but I must say that the source of samsung which was provided on opensource.samsung.com is not really funny stuff... there are so many coding errors, which was. not able for me to solve directly. So now I started to examine other kernel sources, and will try to port a more main.tained source to the i8200. From My point of view this will be the only way to produce an more accurate kernel for our device, and get the possibility to include also selinux what is needed for a kitkat-rom. Nevertheless, it is not easy to work on that stuff, because I'm not an expert on kernel work (but I learn every day more , so if you know someone with more kernel experiences, it would be very helpful to get a contact...
Baroni-V0.1 contains:
Basis of opensource from Samsung with some bugfixing
fixed recovery-boot-loop with a config-setting which must be used special in the Recovery zImage
Loglevel pushed down to minimum
Uber-Toolchain 4.9
set onDemand-Governor to standart. just to check how that works
start implementing SmartAssV2-Gonernor, but leave it inactive, due to some compile-errors.
bringing SELinux to work for future kernel releases if needed for > 4.4
Planned:
new govenors at the moment not established (will come later)
more other stuff (depending on learning-curve
Installation:
Install a recovery for safetyreasons (I prefer TWRP https://www.dropbox.com/s/d3rnfp3vabz9ee8/twrp_i8200_corrected.7z?dl=0
Read carefully the hints of the usage in the following firts post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-mini/general/s-iii-mini-ve-i8200-n-t2826565 (There also the needed Odin (3.09) can be get)
Make backups of the complete phone, and be sure that you know what you do!
Download the right Firmware for your phone from http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ (just to have a other safety fallback in your hand!)
Download the file, start odin as usual (all kies-tasks closed!)
extract the file, and put it to AP
put the phone in Downloadmode (Vol-down,Home-key and powerbutton), and connect the phone with PC
flash the kernel, and let the phone reboot
pray
If things go wrong, please give everytime the following information's:
what you did before
what exactly happened (its not easy to help if you say: it did not work )
which rom in which version, which recovery and which version of my Kernel you use
try to get a /proc/last_kmsg (if a unknowen reboot appears) and/or Logcat, Build prop, CPU info, Sysctl, Kmsg, Dmesg and send it to me (or as a attachment to the post) for further analyse (you can use that tool for it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bassel.andylog )
Attention: First checks seem to be that I8200 (without N or L or Q) did not work atm.

There was a mistake in the initramfs. was corrected now. If you download the V0.7 yesterday, please dont use it... Try V0.8.

My Friend.
Yesterday I tried to install its kernel but my phone did not start properly.
I wanted to do a restore from a backup that had done, but the recovery (TRWP) did not restore the data partition.
Is there any chance that I happen again the same with this version?

Attention with TWRP-Recovery. Data-Partition restore seems to be not right. At the moment please did not use it, because it can delete your data-partition. We have to investigate it further! Other partitions seems to be ok, but its a good Idea if you copy your important data also manually to a other storage (like PC) while you trying things of this thread.

Did you made a backup with twrp (as described)? If yes, then make a restore only with boot marked in the list.
Otherwise, which version did you have? Plain n/l/q? Than I can make a package for Odin...

You are a funny guy... Flasching things without reading the guide is something like a other guy I know from kentucky fried movie (Danger-seeker)
Nevertheless, I added in first thread the stock kernel for i8200n to flash with odin.

Atm nothing... Its alpha and not working. Unfortunately I'm a little bit blocked by illness and x-mas and was not able to work on it... Maybe next week...

Hi to all followers of this thread.
Just to give an update: I try to work on the kernel over x-mas in my free time, but I must say that the source of samsung which was provided on opensource.samsung.com is not really funny stuff... there are so many coding errors, which was not able for me to solve directly. So now I started to examine other kernel sources, and will try to port a more maintained source to the i8200. From My point of view this will be the only way to produce an more accurate kernel for our device, and get the possebility to include also selinux what is needed for a kitkat-rom...
Nevertheless, it is not easy to work on that stuff, because I'm not an expert on kernel work (but I learn every day more , so if you know someone with more kernel experiences, it would be very helpful to invite him/her. To ask in forums (also in xda) is something what I do, but unfortunately the responding are not every time safe...
So I wish you all a happy new year, and lets work together to bring our device a little bit forward

Any progress on the kernel? Is it on github?
Why does this not suport usb flash drives or can the function be ported
Gershy353
I think it must be activated on both sides. Kernel and ROM...

[ROM] Nexus 7 (2013) Timur's v4.0 Android 6.0.1 MOB30X (Flo/Deb)

Howdy...
Starting today Timur announces on his website his final "ROM modification" "Timur's Kernel" in it's latest version for stock Android 6.0.1 MOB30X as a xmas giveaway until January 21st, 2017. It's availavle for the Nexus 7 (2013) Flo and Deb:
https://timur.mobi/timurs-kernel-v4/
You may also find it rather amusing, that he's giving access to the sources on github:
https://github.com/mehrvarz/msm-marshmallow-tm-usbhost-charge
As this is not my work, all credits goes to Timur Mehrvarz.
Regards
Shinson
Will this work with f2fs?
thanks for the info! I tested an older Version of Timurs Kernel - v4.0 beta2 for Android 6.0.1 "MMB29V" (03/2016) - and i cant say i was that happy with it.
But i will give it a second try.
Errors in v4.0 beta2 fixed in final?

Can I install this kernel on Pure Rom 6.0.1 or I must install the factory image 6.0.1 first? I'd like to stay on PureRom..

Seems pretty apparent that nobody knows... Why don't you try it and let us know?
Been testing this Kernel out for a couple weeks now, was aiming for a permanent install but decided to test it out before I went ahead and made the mods to the center console. My hardware includes a UCA202, a Sweex 4 Port USB Hub, a USB2.0 Digital DVB-T SDR+DAB+FM HDTV TV Tuner Receiver Stick RTL2832U+R820T all bought from Amazon. Now am not sure if my hardware is just plain crap coz am forced to reboot the tablet quite a lot. USB communications drops a lot, while poweramp can regain communication with USB and continue to send signal to the amp I always have to reboot for wavesink and SDRtouch to regain communication with the DVB dongle. At this stage I've ruled out permanent install.
What is everybody else's experience?
Can't the features be extracted and implemented to other roms?
Slightly off topic -> has anyone used the 2013 for a dash install and found anything with reasonable battery life?
im DL'ing this kernel right now for a test run, but has anyone used any rom/kernel combo that can stay in standby for more than a few days?

It depends. I've had it, with Lollipop, lose 2% over 48hours on my stripped system. That's unusual though.

It may work but he doesn't recommend it and wouldn't support issues.
where do you get these files?
USBHost kernel (flo601) + service installer.....aka, timur-services + timur-usbhost
With TWRP recovery running, the tablet should now appear as a USB drive on your PC. This lets you copy the three zip archives required for the next step over: timur-services, timur-usbhost and SuperSU. Make sure these three files are available on the tablet's internal sdcard. Then install the three zip files (timur-services + timur-usbhost before SuperSU!), using the TWRP on-screen UI. Note that whenever you update the kernel (usbhost), you will also need to re-install SuperSU afterwards. - OK, done. You can now restart system and boot into Android OS.

Did you unpack the zip file in windows first? Should end up with two separate zips that can then be flashed with twrp...
didn't use Timur...went with elementalX v5.16
I use an Arduino Leonardo as Keyboard.
If I wake my Tablet and have the Arduino connected it will show 1 sek the wake Video and then it starts the suspend Video. And It show the connected USB device "Arduino Dll" although I don't aktivated the option to show the divces.
After the video is over, everything is okay.
It only happen if I have the Arduino connected.
If I have my extern usb soundcard connected it only have the error that it shows the USB devices on start although i haven't activated it.
Is there a fix?

Timur is the only kernel that works with OTTG+Charge and on/off auto detect. Has the elementalx fixed all these issues?
---------- Post added at 03:01 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:59 AM ----------
And the hardware is really old, and the battery aged. Are there any replacement tablet model good for fixed install?
