Coming from an iPhone, i was amazed at this jailbroken app called PMP (Protect My Privacy). Basically what this app does it have control over which app and what so-called permission each app can access (Ex. Allow or Disable app from accessing Contacts, Location and such). This is extremely helpful to prevent app from sniffing on my private info without user knowing. And with their crowd-sourced recommendation, people can share their settings on specific app and recommend you if you should enable or disable a setting, which can be very handy for user to help users losing private info.
I was wondering if there are any app out there or similar for Android that allow user to do the same function, Allowing or Disable apps from accessing certain PERMISSIONS when installing an app.
Hopefully Google incorporate this into their Playstore because so many apps requires such ridiculous permissions like reading your phone data call logs etc.

for root, su permissions, there is the superuser or supersu app. you need it if you have root to allow or not allow su permissions.

there are others in the market if you searched. but, you will need root to use any app that will change permissions. you cant do it with an unrooted device.

Samsungs KitKat and all Lollipop Android versions restrict access to mobile data for 3rd party apps. There are no apps that can do everything you want without root.

Yes google is eating through sewage. The Android System Webview app keeps running even when I have disabled it. It shows in the disabled apps' list, it shows disabled, but the force stop button is active time to time when I check. Yes it still runs back secretly even when disabled. This is a new sewage trick by google. Obviously for phone home stealing. How hungry one can be?
Non rooted xperia. Android 5.1.

Either root and delete it, or stop using that distinct browser.
Also, its not for any kind of theft. It allows your browser to display web functions which would not normally be shown due to programming limitations.

Hello buddy,
Havent rooted the phone yet, because I am waiting for a final update that will feel wholesome. Then I will root.
I have dissabled the Chrome and stock web browser, along with the Android System Webview. Isnt it suppose to keep itself dead when you have disabled it? But it wakes inside the Coffin, isnt it suspected to be definately programmed for some hidden purpose?

You can still disable apps through settings even without root, right? I have that option on my Nexus 6 before I rooted.

Possibly; but l guess it's ROM dependant a: if there is a disable button in app settings and b: what said button actually does.
Checking the disabled apps with the pm command listed should at least show if it's been disable via the package manager.

Yes, almost half of the system apps have 'disable' option activated without root. When apps are disabled they are totally non existant. Other apps depending upon them, either crash, or ask to install the particular needed app. No other(non-douchebag) app will pull out any disabled app. After the number one douchebag app 'Google Play services', 'Android System WebView' seems to be the douchescum sidekick.
I disabled many. All the apps obay the disabledness, except Android System WebView. It shows disabled, but poops out from time to time. After a while or the other when I check the app info, there you see the 'force stop' button is active again.

It still could be that the app isn't fully disabled; perhaps the 'disable' just turns of as much services/activities as possible.
Have you checked the pm command? (You can run that in terminal without root...)
U really need to have some clear idea about webview.

Let me explain why?
The WebView is the system organ that manages the application that run internet (except chrome or Firefox )it allows the app to connect with Internet.
So find the application that is culprit try : Gsam

Terminal emulator and enter pm list packages -d to see what package manager sees as being disabled.

I already DISABLED it. And all the apps run and connect fine without it.
the purpose of the app is to render webpages for apps that don't have a built-in browser. An example would be google login page, which is web based (likely for security reasons) for when you want to allow an app access to your google account. It doesn't even have its own internet permission. Nor does it have any other hidden abilities. Think of it as an HTML Viewer for modern internet implementations. Definitely not a phone home app and definitely not as douchebaggey as the rest of googles apps. here is screenshots of the apps components http://imgur.com/a/CzW8r

But there is still the question-
Why does it run anyway, even if disabled? Why this bullysh act? If I am disabling important service (according to google bots ) , then stay disabled and give me errors in the system. Why run back?
I know I am going to nail it with root, but still raising the question.
Sounds an awful lot like you are being unreasonably paranoid in a slightly uneducated fashion frankly. I have it disabled on my non-rooted phone and it would take more than a Force Stop button being non-grayed out to worry me. Rather than jumping to conclusions and displaying hysteria symptoms why don't you actually confirm that is or is not running in the running processes.

I need to install the DJI Go app in order to use my gimbal but it asks for ridiculous permissions like being able to make calls and even reroute calls in addition to harvesting my contacts. Since there's no alternative app I need to use DJI Go, but I want to block it's access to my data. I've looked for permission blocking apps and found a few but they're very old and don't work on Android 7.
I have root access on my Google Pixel, is there any app, from the Play Store or elsewhere that will block permissions on an app by app basis?

Greetings and welcome to assist. There are several apps that allow you to restrict permissions but they all require root, my favourite is app settings but it requires xposed. You can find it here

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately xposed doesn't run on Android 7 yet. Can you recommend any that don't require xposed?
Why dont you just go to settings - apps - gear wheel - app permissions and tun off all the permissions that you feel are useless for that app?

but you should be able to turn off a lot of permissions in your settings anyway

As has already been alluded to, go to...
Android Settings>>Apps
...scroll down and locate the app in question and disable whatever permissions you find onerous.
You don't need root for this, or the need to install any special app.

Yes, that works, thanks. I was hoping to use something like XPrivacy that can feed fake data to the app in case denying permissions causes the app to force close. In this case, just turning off the onerous permissions seems to be sufficient.
The problem with using Android settings is it does not include all the permissions. It's like they added these settings to make people feel like they have control over permissions but the most evasive permissions are unable to be blocked. Frustrating.

Normally, I use Mobicip browser to block undesirable content on my family's phones. I just found out that my kid has found a way to access porn on the LG V20 through multi-window. When you hit the multi-window button, you can access blocked apps or the Play Store and bypass the page that asks for your password if you press it the right way and he downloaded Titanium Backup and froze Mobicip. I blocked all the apps that would allow this to happen but multi-window allows it if you use it properly.
My question is, can I disable multi-window in any way? Like editing a .xml file or something? I will edit the Nougat code if I have to. Is there any way to edit any of the files to break the multi-window function? I was pretty shocked when I found this out but now I would like to do something about it. Thanks for your help guys.

Thank you for the suggestion. It seems like that will do the trick! The main thing in that app that works to prevent access is under System Lock, the option for Recent Apps (Multitasking).The problem is that when the Mobicip block screen comes up asking for a password for a blocked app, you can just press the Recent Apps button and reopen the blocked app in multiwindow while leaving the other page open that is asking for a password. You then have the Mobicip password page open in the top multiwindow and the app you're trying to get to in the bottom multiwindow, but you can use the blocked app in the bottom multiwindow. Applock blocks the Recent Apps altogether so that solves the problem.
I didn't know this app even existed so thank you again for your help!
When all else fails, either limit your child's access, or consider it in a supervised setting.
Relying on software to limit access is not a good plan. Your son figured it out once, chances are he will again. Kids have nothing but time and in the case of a horny male child, determination.

I think app2sd from playstore has some options like that but not sure how much it can do...you can check yourself it's free
