What wifi speeds are you getting on your Nexus Q? Slow? - Nexus Q Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After using speedtest to see why i was experiencing a lot of lag on streaming, I realized that my Nexus Q on CM10.1 is only getting an average of 5mb/s DL. Where as my Nexus 4 phone on Cm10.1 on the same wifi network is getting around 30mb/s...
Anybody experiencing this problem? Please post your speedtest results for Nexus Q.

[Q] Reallllly slow WiFi

On my Nexus 4 I get about 8Mbps while on cellular data. When I connect to my WiFi network I can barely get 1Mbps. I have a 20Mbps internet connection at my home. My other wireless computers at home get great speeds yet my Nexus 4 goes so slow. Does anyone know why my Nexus 4 would have such low speeds?
Is it just your Nexus 4? Are any other devices on WiFi affected as well?

My Sister also has the Nexus 4 and she has the same problem.

Okay well that doesn't really help narrow down the issue except the fact that it's a Nexus 4 problem. Do you have any other devices? Laptops, Desktops (with WiFi), Media Players, etc to run a speed test? If so, run a speed test on those devices, is the WiFi slow on those or are they fast?
What kind of router do you have?
I did a side by side Wi-Fi test with a Galaxy Nexus and a Nexus 4.
The Galaxy Nexus was consistently faster by a few Mbps on download speed. The N4 was faster on upload speed.
Mi WiFi connection stays connected but its incredibly weak compared to my old HTC devices
T-Mobile G2 = 4 bars
Amaze 4G = 3 or 4 bars
Nexus 4 = 1 or 2 bars
All in the same room.

As I said in another post. I also got slow download speeds on my n4. I got about 10Mbit/s down. My n7 get around 30Mbit/s down. Im using asus router n56 with the latest fimrware. I have tried to change every setting in the router but I cant get it to work. Playstore is also very slow.
The strange thing is that from time to time I have got fast download speed(40-50Mbit/s) but it has just been for a very short time.
It is really annoying! I dont know anyone else that got an n4 so I cant compare two units at the same place.
In my house same problem. All devices work at 7 M/b, instead my Nexus 4 and my brother Nexus 4 are very slow...
Hopefully it is a software bug and not hardware-specific.
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=40306 seems like there is a bug. Let's go make some noise

Kernel is only wifi. So op can flash a custom kernel to try and fix it. Franco kernel contains newer wifi drivers than the stock kernel.
A lot of people who had wifi problems fixed it by flashing Franco kernel r19 and above.

In the house of the mother of my wife is working perfectly.
Edit: Franco kernel r22

So changing kernel did boost your wifi-speed? Hopefully google updates their kernel with this fix in the next release. Im currently running all stock and my intention was to keep doing that
I have a rev_11 N4, and with the speedtest.net app, I get 30-35 Mb/sec with a 6ms latency. FWIW, I run DD-WRT on the router.
I get 8.5mbps download on Nexus 4 and 19.5mbps on the pc connected to the router.
Don't know if thats good or bad but seems fine to me.
Thats on AOKP rom and franko kernel r24.

Now I compared three devices on my homenetwork. I got 8/11mbps on my n4 (stock 4.2.1), 33/13 on my n7 (stock 4.2.1) and 39/13 on my sgs 1 (custom rom 4.0.4). This is strange. The slow speed on the n4 isnt only appearing in speedtest-apps but also when downloading apps from market. The router is asus n56.
N4. Stock Jellybean.
At home on a Verizon FiOS router, my N4 hits 30/25Mbps, which is MAX speed. I'm using WPA2 with " Compatibility Mode" selected, which I assume to mean 20MHz bandwidth.
At work, my download speeds were slower than a friend's Galaxy Nexus.
From that I would surmise that either the router or the router's settings are the culprit.
If you are experiencing slow speeds at home, I would try changing the 802.11n bandwidth setting.
Google doesn't want you to know this but you all likely have defective devices... as to be expected in this stage.

Being throttled while connected to VZW hotspot

I have no sim for my Nexus 4. I tether to my VZW Galaxy Nexus. However, it seems I'm being throttled. While connected I run speed test. It starts slow then jumps up to normal speeds.. 20mbs. When I download or get on the web my speed is very slow. To download a 120mb file takes at least 30 min.
When using my works WiFi, speeds are normal. Downloads are as they should be. It's something to do with the hotspot. I've searched for another thread with this issue and can't find any answers.
I've also tethered my Nexus 7 and laptop to my Galaxy Nexus and speeds are normal. This only happens with the Nexus 4. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated... Sorry to add another thread in this maze.

Man, I just can't find a fix for this. Been through many different ROMs on both phones, searched the net and settings and can find no answer. I put an active att sim card in to no avail. Such an odd situation. Unfortunately this is my only access to speeds above .5 mbs at home. Again, any ideas would be great.

I'm seeing the same results. I'm using a LTE xoom as a hotspot, and getting terrible speeds on the N4. Other devices, including the Galaxy Nexus, are all doing fine.
Why would you buy a Nexus 4 only to connect to a Verizon hotspot????

Who said I bought it? It's the only way to get wifi at work. Cant get AT&T or T-mobile signals in the building
I have unlimited data on VZW and LTE everywhere I go. However, at my home, no one offers home internet besides satellite. I get much better speeds on VZW hotspot.
I love nexus devices. I wanted the nexus 4. So I bought one. Luckily however impractical, I can afford all this. T-Mobile and att have no service at my home, so getting rid of VZW isn't an option.
I do now have att and T-Mobile plans. Having an active Sim didn't make a difference. I didn't think it would but I held out hope Lol.

Similar issues connecting to Thunderbolt Hotspot

I am having a similar issue with my Nexus 4 (with Tmobile Sim) connecting to my Hotspot on my Thunderbolt (Verizon). When connected to my hotspot, my download speeds are stuck around .5 mbps but upload speeds are normal. The Nexus 4 has no issues at all when connecting to my wifi at home or at work, and other devices connected to my Hotspot have no issues. My friend who has his Nexus 4 flashed to CM 10 (also with TMo sim) has no issues when connected to his hotspot on his Note 2 (Verizon).

Really slow download speeds?

Is anyone else experiencing extremely slow download speeds on their AT&T galaxy s4? On my s3 I was getting around 500 kb/s. On this I'm getting around 100 kb/s. Anyone else getting this?

Hmm no I get 45mbps down at times, 20mbps usually tho. I live in the Chicago area so the problem might be a regional thing. What is it your downloading, or is it just a regular speed test?

Mine have been 3.5g speeds since I got it. 5-7 mbps. I did manage 30 down, but that was a one time fluke. At&t is no help.

Nevermind It seems to have fixed itself, my Google play store download speeds are still sluggish however, does anyone know why?

Screen time (battery life)

I'm just wondering what other peoples screen time is once they hit 10% battery mines usually just shy of 3 hours I can never make it past 3 hours and it kind of frustrating cause my S2 got about 4 and this only shy of 3. Like I said I was just wondering what other peoples screen times are. Feel free to post screenshots of times lol

I get just over 1 hour of screen time if I am lucky. This is basically the same as it was on my Galaxy Nexus and Sensation 4G.

Random Signal Loss

Hi,
Not sure why, I'm facing random signal loss. Particularly when the phone sleeps.
I'm using Sentinel ROM and Air Kernel.
This has been happening in the past week and my other dumb phone on the same network with another sim card always has signal.
Neither the ROM or Kernel was updated recently.
What could be the problem?

Turns out to be a issue with operator. Was in a different area all day and didn't face it.
