When I make a call the phone turns on vibration mode - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Whenever I make a call my phone now turns itself in vibration mode. This is very annoying! Im running stock unrooted 4.2.2. I remember having this before on my Nexus S running 4.2.2 (custom rom)

Never mind I just fixed the bug. I uninstalled AVG and the problem is no longer there

thank you man, I suffered from this problem in my htc wildfire, and drove me crazy, I scanned and uninstalled all the apps I suspected. The same problem appeared in my brand new htc one after I installed a few app.
It never occurred to me that AVG was the culprit.
thank you
thank you:good::good::good::good::good::good:

Thanks dude you saved me
I am your fan now
You don't know the level of suffering i had to go through.. I will be in a meeting or conference
with my Nexus 4 on silent.. A call comes and bam it rings..
Tried uninstalling all kinds of apps.. Never knew avg would do this..

My phone has frozen like 4-5 times since the first day I got it...
Nope.
nope...
Mine hasn't frozen, but sometimes have to turn wifi on and off a few times to connect to my router

After 3 full days of use and having loaded and tested about 1.5GB of apps, I've not had a single hiccup.
So far I don't have a single complaint about the S3.

My phone is seamless. Every once in awhile though, XDA seems to be a bit choppy. But nothing else.

Yeah I forgot seems like my xda app when I go to messages it locks up. Not the phone just the app.

no issues here. had it sence monday been running like a champ. batery lasted 14hrs so far with emails updating every 15 min and surfing the net from time to time at work all on 4g . love this phone and wish it was unlocked
Has frozen once or twice, but I think it may have been on Power Save at the time. Have you used that feature at all?
Also, Apex launcher crashes quite a bit. Not sure if it's a compatibility issue or what.

I've had multiple apps crash on me over and over. Stock phone.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
Nope. And I use it quite heavily too.
Hmm..the only app that has lagged so far is XDA app, and seems few of you guys had that experience too. Wonder if this is a compatibility issue or coz all of us are in the XDA app all the time:laugh:
16days and not 1 problem.

Straight butter here, I don't even think I've had a FC yet, and I've had mine since launch. Battery lasts me ALL DAY no problem and performance all around has been flawless.
I am rooted on stock rom if anyone is wondering.
MANY apps freeze for me all the time, and it's stock, and use atk but still same issues.

Nothing. Android has an amazing memory management system. If you must close all apps, hold Home, click remove all. Then hold Home, click Task manage, go to ram, and hit clear memory. This is only necessary if an app is rogue and causing battery drain though.

Phone restarting itself?

My phone has rebooted twice and that is the only widget I'm using. I'm on rooted stock rom. A few other people said it was that app that caused the Nexus 7 to reboot so I'm guessing it's the same reason for our phone. I haven't used the widget for 3 days now and no rebooting since.
Overheating?
I had been watching Netfilx on my Nexus 4 using mobile data and my phone just restarted by itself. I was also charging it at the time, after it reset, I checked the temp. and it was at 102 f. I'm not sure why this happened, but it is the second time while I was using Netfilx, I didn't check the temp the first time... I'm starting to get worried, is it just me? Is it just because the phone is doing too much? Am I alone in this?

[Q] [q] strange battery life on the n4

Just got my new Nexus 3 days back.. and today was the first day using the phone not plugging it on and off thorough the day.
noticed something odd. I hadn't opened the maps app.. so it makes it even more strange.
any ideas?
Maps always runs itself. I believe this can be remedied by turning off location settings.

not faced the problem today, hadn't changed any settings. guess it will remain a mystery until it happens again?
Someone was having a similar problem a few weeks back. Try going from maps to navigation and accepting the user agreements etc. Someone found that this solved the maps battery drain.

This was an issue on galaxy nexus when updating from 4.0 to 4.0.1 .all you had to do is to go to maps accept t&c and that's it.

Audioout_2 wakelocks

Hello,
I really tried to find an answer to my question but I couldn't. There is a thread in the Galaxy S3 forum but as I have a N4 and suggestions in the said thread did not help I'm trying here again.
As BBS tells me, Audioout_2 is causing a lot of wakelocks on my N4. In 10 hours of use, it caused 704 wakelocks (more than 50 minutes). I guess it is a lot since the next on the BBS list is Kakao talk with 9 minutes (280 times). The sound was turned off the whole time (vibrate only). And I don't have Viber installed (some people supposed that Viber caused the Audioout_2 wakelocks). I also turned off Google tts which was supposed to cause the problem too.
Does anyone know what Audioout_2 is and how to decrease the number and time of wakelocks?
Thank you very much in advance.
Edit: Running latest PA on latest franco kernel + some grammar corrections
Really? Am I the only one having this problem with a N4.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
I've read in a thread that the problem could be the touch sounds, try to deactivate them (touch sound, screen lock sound and keytones) and see if it desappears! (Reboot the phone after disabling those sound, in order to be sure)

You'll need to wait longer than 3 hours before coming to that sort of conclusion.

Audio_2, so descriptive...
I have had the same problem with this strange wakelock on my N4 with stock google + franco kernel.
I am not sure when exactly it started to appear, so lets find some commonalities:
Do you have Calendar Snooze ( cannot post links yet ) installed ?

PS (installed CyanogenMod without franco kernel 6 hours ago, lets see if it will reappear)

Nope. But latest "rumor" I heard is that the haptic feedback causes the wakelock too. Turning off sounds is not enough. So I'll try to turn off haptic feedback after next charging too (even though I will miss it)

I'm pretty sure audioout_2 comes up when you are listening to music or watching a video. I've been listening to music on spotify and I get that wakelock normally.

I don't here any music on my phone. Maybe listening to music causes those wakelocks but there must be something else causing it too.

I did not have haptic feedback, which pretty much rules it out for me. I did use music player though (3rd party, not internal one) over bluetooth. But somehow it was appearing when I did not listen to the music too, just drove and phone (wow... feels weird to call it like that) was connected to in-car bt audio
Seems to be haptic feedback. After I turned it off the wakelocks from Audioout_2 almost stayed the same (2 min in 2 hours)

I am glad you have it solved for yourself. I will try to keep an eye on haptic thingy too.
Just a little update: Phone is unplugged for 3 hours now, haptic feedback off, wakelocks caused by Audioout_2 are down to 8 seconds (12 wakelocks). That's a huge improvement.

Last update: 9hrs, 2 min with 63 wakelocks. I guess that's it, problem solved. I'm surprised how fast I got used to not using haptic feedback.

The whole Audioout_2 thing is strange. Some people solved the wakelock problem by uninstalling Viber, some by turning off system sounds only and in my case it obviously was the haptic feedback. I don't get it too but it solved my problem.

Nexus detected by anti theft security system

Odd things happen lately, no matter where I go with my nexus 4 anti theft systems at local stores like JC penny, Macy, old navy. Once I enter the store, the anti theft system beeps what the f**k? Or I leave the store. Anybody experiencing this?

Nah, I don't think it's NFC, the maximum range is roughly around 10 cm, which is relatively short.
But what makes your think it's the Nexus that is triggering the alarm?
Well thought it was my vape at first. Its the phone in my op cuz happens to me and the wife she is stock I'm rooted. And its the only thing I'm my pocket when it happens JC Penny's old navy ross's k mart Walmart . its weird
Never had this happen nowhere in Germany. However I bought some boots once and months later in a random store the alarms went off. Showed one shoe was not unlocked when I bought it

Probably restore stock settings and lock my phone?

It does it to me on my rooted and my wife's stock nexus
This has never happened to me with either of my phones (N4 running AOSP custom rom or Atrix HD running CM11) or any of my past phones (iPhone 3GS jailbroken, Atrix 4G CM10), but my Surface Pro 2 does set off those things when going into my school library
