[Q] new software update

could someone tell me how everyone is signing up for that new update that came out a couple days ago thanxs
You don't have to sign up to get the update, but you do have to sign up to beta test it.
That's done through Motorola's website. IDK if they're still accepting beta testers or not.
Also, the update hasn't been released yet to the public. Only to test devices.
where at provide link

I don't think its available for pre-release testing yet, either, because I haven't gotten it yet, and I tested the first one and filled out the application for this one also.

Testers don't have it yet, unless on a Moto dev phone.

AOSP 4.1.1 released..Developers get ready and start your Engines.

Android Open Source Project lead Jean-Baptiste Queru announced on the official Android Building Group that Android 4.1.1, Jelly Bean has been released to AOSP. The release will be tagged as*android-4.1.1_r1 in AOSP, a slight bump in version number from the Google I/O 2012 developer preview*release. The “.1″ most likely represents a few last minute bug fixes or changes. The Android 4.1.1 binaries (JRO03C) have also been released for the*GSM Galaxy*Nexus*(maguro),*Verizon Galaxy Nexus (toro), *and new*Nexus 7*(grouper). The Nexus S and the Motorola Xoom will soon follow.*The full Jelly Bean source code can be download once it’s done uploading and replicating. JBQ estimates this will be around 9PM EST. Once complete, developers can begin downloading*here. What’s this mean for those that love to flash custom ROMs? First, be patient. It takes a long time to download and build Android. Second, amazing development teams such as CyanogenMod are*already on the job. Later tonight, they’ll begin doing what they do best, coding Android. We won’t see any official CM10 nightly builds just yet, so hold your horses. With that said, just because the CM is working on merging their changes into the Jelly Bean source, doesn’t mean that we won’t seen official, stock AOSP builds for the listed devices soon. The Android community never ceases to amaze us, we might just see a few ROMs pop up late tonight or early tomorrow morning. Keep your fingers crossed.

you were a little late on making the thread. one already exists.

S8 Daydream Ready

At Google I/O, they just announced that the S8 is daydream ready. We will get an update this summer getting the compatibility. I do not have a source for this yet but when people start posting it I will add a link.

I'm down with this. Daydream's an affordable foray into VR.

Any news on when we getting Oreo?

What the tittle says
Yes there is, we'll get it in 2 months period.
Any ideas why so long? Sony already got it and they are skinned as well as others are close behind like Samsung with their beta tests and htc why is this one taking so long to push since it is almost pure?

Sony have a much bigger dev team, plus sony has a large community of devs and testers that work for free since they release all their code to open source.
But is this not like the purest of Android ... On paper it should be just plug test and play for the A1?
In principle, yes. But I going by the apparent fact that Google isn't in charge of software but xiaomi is, my guess is that is the reason why there is no oreo yet...
I presume. I've heard good things for this company let's see how this phone will hold up to what people say
I think that the Andorid One topic is quite new for them (too) and they just have to collect their experience first so I'm pretty sure for the following updates they will get more and more routine so this is just the beginning....
With Android One, doesn't Google control the OS updates like in Pixel. We get security fixes along with Pixel
Android one suppose to be the first device after pixel and nexus to get Oreo.
Devices are getting beta version or something of Oreo.
And we are just waiting ,
Don't want to rush anything but atleast a official comment on the Oreo for android one would be grate...
They says by the end of this year, its mean December, calm down
I have a friend working in Mi China and he says their Target is indeed for December 2017. So let's just all chill out till then.
From what I guess Google isn't really controlling the updates of mi a1. STOCK android doesn't support capacitive nav bars and a IR sensor too. Moreover there are dual cameras on this phone. So mi has to so tweaks to accommodate all this. That's why it must be taking some time.

There is nothing like this. Android one is a program which ensures every updates not faster updates. So keep calm. They will release it by 31st Dec.
The update chain is not that what u r thinking right now.
Google - Processor manufacturers - OEMs - Beta testers - OEM - Public Release.
As far as what I've seen and heard on mi community discussions some guy had posted a pic of his discussion with one of the representatives from Xiaomi. It said that they werent sure on when they are going to release the update as they haven't finalized the date yet. They said that it could be in late january 2018

If a random representative said that, must be true
I would give them 2-3 days more before I start having my doubts . They've said by end of December ..so no point rushing unless . Just hope there aren't any major bugs in the beta

The problem is the heavily doctored version of android that Xiaomi have included with this device and the inbuilt spyware.
Still no Oreo
Still no Kernel.
Not pure/stock Android.
THE TIME FOR ACTION IS NOW. - we should not stand for this any longer.

Looking to buy this device, can you tell me the spyware you have come across.
So someone asked on Twitter about Oreo update and Xiaomi says "Its coming really soon!"

Project Treble Support??

As google has started Project Treble with Android Oreo for faster updates.. I am wondering if Samsung s8 will support it or not as there is no official statement from Samsung.
It would be very great if Samsung supports it. We can get major updates so quickly even the custom roms
Huewai Mate 9, Essential ph-1 are already supporting it.
probably not happening. I asked in the beta community and they said they would check with the internal team on it.
It's rolling out only on phones released after it's announcement.

Not true. The Pixel supports it, also the Pixel 2 and the Essential phone. Samsung said that they might, nothing confirmed yet.
Its not supported in the current beta so id say thats a pretty strong no.
So, with the final version coming soon, do we have a definitive answer?
