How come the n10 never hit retail stores in Canada? - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was happy and surprised when the n7 came to canada at the same time as the US, (well I think a week later) when usually we may get a product at a much later date, so I thought the same thing would happen with the nexus 10, but it never did. It's still not on sale in retail store here and I assume never will be. Yes, samsung made this and not asus, but other samsung products are sold here, so why not this?
I kind of get the impression that the n10 didn't hit that many retail stores in the US either, but I could be wrong.

Staples and Walmart as far as I know are the only two retail stores in the USA . And only the 32gb at 499
Got mine at Walmart yaaay no shipping lol

Samsclub also has it but that's owned by the same person as Walmart. I got mime from there
Sent from my Xperia Play (r800x)

Ok so it seems it was a very limited release in the US and not at all in Canadian retail. Why was that?
It seems like they had a huge retail success with the N7 and the 10 inch was a very competitively priced tablet for the hardware you were getting and seemed poised to be another big success, so it seems weird to me to barely give it a push distributing it in such few retail markets.
Especially when considering the rest of samsung's line is available here in retail.

I think it's because Google started selling it directly from thheir play store you can order one from there. They have international shipping
Sent from my Xperia Play (r800x)

Well, yeah I know you can buy it online, even in canada, and although online shopping is growing, retail is still a huge market.
And they had online shopping with the nexus 7 as well, but of course also decided on retail distribution. I'll be surprised when the nexus 7 successor is announced if it is online only.
I had a couple of friends who wanted to buy a n10 for christmas and asked me and I said yeah it's online only and they instead went with something else.
I still like to buy retail cause if there's any issues I can go right back to the store for a replacement. Say I had an issue with my n7, then I have to mail it back and be without it for a week or whatever if I bought a dud?
As I said you can buy samsung's other tablet products retail, and google's other offerings retail as well, except the n10.
Well I thought it was an exception and there was a reason why, but I hope it's not a sign of things to come.

[Q] Will it ever be sold in stores?

I live outside U.S., so there's really much more chance of me buying it sooner if it was sold in stores in the U.S. How does google sell their nexus products? It is always only available in their play store, since they don't have a physical store?
Or would they ever be sold in electronics store such as best-buy?
Nexus phones always ended up in stores very soon after the initial presale direct from google, I don't see how this would be any different. You're likely to see them show up in stores as soon as the online orders start shipping
Well here in the UK it's going to be stocked by most electronic retailers, So I don't see why not overseas too.

Nexus 7 16GB discontinuing?

How come some websites listing Nexus 7 16GB as a discontinued product? I thought it was 8GB. I checked in JR.com they have their 16GB nexus 7 listed as discontinued. I checked my local microcenter store and they said they do not carry that product anymore. Is google discontinuing 16GB nexus 7?
I went into a few stores to pick up a 16gb model for my flatmate and an employee at HMV told me they were no longer stocking the 16gb. What I took this to mean was that Google are doing the same with the 16gb as they did with the 8gb and making it an online exclusive.
The 8gb was initially supposed to be an online playstore exclusive but they had to start distributing it to stores etc to meet the high demand of the N7. I don't think they'd discontinue it because it's how they keep a hold on the "extremely cheap" tablet option. £160 for a 16gb tablet is crazy cheap, and they'd have to be even crazier to discontinue it and make the minimum £200.
I find it odd that Argos in the UK (a huge high street retailer) only sells the 32GB, and not the 16GB (which surely would sell better).
It's on the Play store, soo
I went checked all my local stores such as Staples, Microcenter, Radioshack and all they carry is 32GB. Seems like google is only selling 16GB through its playstore as "jrush4" mentioned. Walmart is selling 16GB currently for free shipping though. I guess it won't last long either.
well i think they have discontinued the model everywhere else and are selling it here in India for Double the Price.Profit for them.

I've seen quite a few. My mother-in-law and aunt both have one... and I wasn't no where in the process. I've seen some running in the wild too. I think most people keep tablets at home.
And I'm not sure about the 16gb being discontinued as it competes directly with the 16gb iPad Mini. Google is probably just focusing their shipments of the 32gb's to get them in the wild.
I also noticed I could not find the 16gb at Sams Club, Staples, Gamestop or Office Depot
You are talking about Google here. Right?
With google you really know what they are thinking or doing.. Maybe they are going to discontinue it . Maybe they are just cutting shipping so people will but the 32 instead. Its really hard to say with Google. I do know they can NOT Keep a secret at all. So if they where really planing something We would assume it to be leaked already in some form or another. Maybe they are going to make another change to to the nexus 7 and announce it on the 13th . I to do not see why they would discontinue it. But i also know all the local Walmart and staples office depot stores have them . But only if you go into the store at staples and office depot. No advertisement .. Which is odd.
Google Google Google.. Who knows for sure all we can do is guess.
I was waiting for that, so I can exchange my 16gb with a little screen lifting for a brand new 32.
Please, more infos discontinued 16gb from EU, thanks.

Is there anyone here who would rather buy a 16GB N7 for $200, rather than a 32GB N7 for $250?
That might be why the 16GB N7 might be disappearing soon...

Sagging sales...really?

http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2013/11/21/lg-release-g-pad-tablet-more-overseas-markets.html
Gee, I wonder why sales are below expected in the US? Could it be Best Buy's epic failure at promoting the product? The people at BB should be running the NSA; they're better at keeping secrets.
Maybe LG should just rename it the Area 51 Pad...lots of people have heard of it but BB continues to deny it's existence.
No kidding! The Best Buy help weren't aware of it and took forever to find it in "the cage".
LG has officially jumped the shark.
I don't know who is to blame LG or Best Buy or both but it does make you scratch you head in wonder how they plan to sell this tablet based on current marketing an store display. Why give Best Buy an exclusive if they don't plan to display it and sell it? They need to get this in more stores out on display. They also need to drop 30-50 off the price here in the states if they want it to sell it needs to be cheaper than the first iPad mini and the Samsung Tab 3 8 regardless of the specs and it being a better product most Americans don't know specs they know brand name and price.
Ya, BB has this thing in their phone department next to the G2. Like what?
They need this over with the other tablets, let alone the other 8" tablets. Luckily I knew where to look so i can get a hands on before deciding on a purchase online
The two BB near me do not even have it out in the phone area they have a picture of it in the G2 display but not the actual device.
It does feel like that what is otherwise a fantastic tablet will again fail to sell properly. Just like the Samsung 7.7 did in its time. You have to wonder...
BB has no interest in promoting specific products. If the G Pad fails, it makes no difference to them. They are just as happy selling an iPad or a Samsung Note. LG is the one who loses when this product is a flop. It's up to LG to make sure that retailers sell the product. If they made the product attractive to BB, then BB would sell it. The real problem is that LG has not advertised the product, they've priced it too high, and they haven't provided the right incentives to retailers.
A retailer isn't going to give shelf space or attention to a product that is as poorly marketed as the G Pad. If a lot of people were coming into the store asking for it, BB would pay more attention. It's LG who's keeping the product a secret. BB is just following their lead.
And why are BB and Newegg the only authorized dealers?? Why isn't Amazon, Target, Costco, Sam's Club and Walmart selling this? Where are the magazine and TV ads? The billboards? The point of sale kiosks, etc? LG seems to have no serious interest in this product. Any product that was as poorly marketed as this one would fail in the market.
At least my local Best Buy has a white one up for display *in the phone section* away from all the other tablets and readers.

I got mine on release date. They didn't have any on display and only one left in stock (other than the one that the guy tried to sell me the display unit and then noticed the computer said it was $1000 for it).
I visited my local Best Buy last night and they still don't have it on display (in tablet or phone area) or in stock. I really don't understand why LG has dropped the ball on this but it seems to be in line with about every other mobile company minus Apple and Samsung. Every display other than the Apple and Samsung displays looked cheap and run down. The Nexus 7 display looked fine, but they have a demo running on all of their models so you can't even get a real feel for how it works. If LG would put a nice display in the tablet area, these things would sell fast. I just hope enough sell to have a decent development community.
LG must not. want to be successful. they had it on display only at. best buy with the mobile phones. No advertising, ovepriced and lackluster support.
Whose poor ideas were this? only. 1 retailer in the US?

Apparently, US sucks *JOKE*
Here in Europe you can get your G Pad in 95% of all the electronics shops. Its really strange what's going on in the US...
I don't know how well the tablet is selling worldwide but at the biggest electronics store here in Zurich, I think it's doing quite well with the Black version sold out and only a few white versions left. Of course, this could be due to low stock to begin with, I'm not sure. I really hope it does well because I just got mine and it's probably one of the best electronic gadgets I have ever bought.
I'm no stranger to Android (although I haven't spent a great deal of time on the latest hardware such as the HTC One, G2 or Galaxy S4) but I was always a little disappointed by the promise of "buttery smooth performance" from the Jellybean. I have a One X and also another tablet from Pipo running the RK3188 so it's no slouch but both are not what I would call a smooth experience (although my One X became a heck of a lot better after flashing Cyanogenmod). I originally came from iPhones and iPads so I was very disappointed in this regard.
Now with the G Pad, I finally know what "buttery smooth" feels like on an Android. The machine is just incredible with next to no interface lag at all and all the apps zip around without any effort. The Wi-Fi strength is also incredible, picking up my router from distances that my One X, iPad mini or iPhone 4S could never have.
For the sake of LG, I hope it really does well. They deserve it and will hopefully release more products like this in the future.

As you pointed out low stock could mean heavy selling or it could mean low stock. Considering the way it started off in the US, i.e., few retailers and high prices, I'm inclined to think that LG does not have a lot of capacity to manufacture the units. Currently, we're seeing more discounting in the US and few more options for retailers, but it is still not widely sold. Could be that the situation will get better as they produce more units.
Awesome tablet but I just returned mine to BestBuy. I've been burnt before buy buying a killer device that no one else bought. Software updates don't come and accessories don't fit. Very sad that LG made this ridiculous exclusive distribution deal.

I played with one at best buy in southern il today it was next to the lg g2. I think I'll love this thing it's the perfect size and seems fast. I figure I'll keep for at least a year maybe longer if no one comes out with a better 8 inch tab. Samsung's note screen sucks I also looked at it today.

Well Said Woody.
Fast forward to the present and it's still the same.. BestBuy could care less about this Tablet.. a lot of sales reps still don't know about it and it's still to this day not on display..
And that's sad.
I have posted similar thoughts about lack of promotion and availability for this tablet in other forums. It's very strange to have such a product available only at one B&M retailer (BB), and one online store (Newegg), and as a GPE version. With that approach you would think LG would have dumped a bunch of money into promoting the G Pad at BB. I've seen enough complaints in the reviews at Newegg (and elsewhere for units purchased from Newegg) to think they were chosen to handle the returns, refurbished units, and otherwise 'unclean' units.
Having said that, our BB started displaying a black version and a white version G Pad a couple of weeks ago. Last week they price matched Newegg's $280 for the black version for me when they were selling theirs for $350. The sales rep I got knew all about the G Pad and started trying to sell me on it but I already knew everything I needed to know.
Now VerizonWireless has started to sell it as well, with LTE. That could be a breakthrough for this tablet, especially with the pricing model they have ($100 with a 2 year contract through tomorrow, $149 after that, and $300 with no contract). Those prices are pretty enticing, I think, especially compared to BB's $350 everyday price for the WiFi only model. It will be interesting to see what happens with this tablet now that VW is in the picture.
Another thought. I've wondered, especially since the GPE came out, if maybe the G Pad is a trial run for a Nexus 8 replacement for the Nexus 7 and maybe a new Nexus 10 as well that a lot of folks are waiting for. Google got a lot of heat for the issues many folks had with the Gen2 Nexus 7 built by ASUS. Maybe they are testing the waters with LG for their next generation Nexus tablets and they and LG aren't necessarily concerned about how much money they make from this one. Just a thought.

Motorola Moto G 2015 under review on Amazon

I was about to order one from Amazon when I saw this. It seems to only apply to the white edition. I wonder if they are sending out the wrong version or something. I can't post the link because I am a new user but you can go see for yourself at the US website.
"Item Under Review
While this item is available from other marketplace sellers on this page, it is not currently offered by Amazon.com because customers have told us there may be something wrong with our inventory of the item, the way we are shipping it, or the way it's described here. (Thanks for the tip!)

Probably a vendor bait 'n switch. I usually get my phones from carrier because I'm able to spend a whole lot less on acquiring phones & due to lucrative reasons...I get early buy-outs credited to the account, get the gift cards upon doing a hardware upgrade, giving me money to spend on groceries or electronics, etc. Which off-sets other expenses such as buying sim-unlock codes for the devices. Got my moto g 3rd gen osprey from carrier that way. But I bought a phone off of amazon once, and I doubt I'd be doing it again. Ordered the galaxy note 4, model sm-n910c (marketed for Thailand). Vendor shipped an sm-n910u (marketed for Hong Kong & a few other places), which the same vendor was selling for $100 less. The sm-n910u was selling for an extra $150 less by another vendor. The vendor never redeemed himself, so I asked him to swap the phone for an sm-n910c or price-match the cheapest vendor on the sm-n910u. He said he could either give us his price on the sm-n910u, or refund the phone. We returned the phone, he then said it was not in new condition, therefore he'd charge a 75% restocking fee. We opened a case with amazon and got a full refund.
I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of bait 'n switch on buying phones from amazon, so I'd recommend to triple-check phones upon receiving them when ordered via amazon. If it's within the 30 days of purchase and it's the wrong product, send it back, and if the vendor gives drama, open a case. Don't settle for less!

Unfortunately i don't think anyone knows anything about Hong Kong availability, i have friends that work at Google in Hong Kong and they don't know
furble,
Considering Nexus 5 release in Hong Kong was one of the earlier cities to get them back them, one would think Hong Kong would be one of earlier cities to get stock since Huawei has a decent presence in HK.
Yeah that's what I was thinking, but you see all these release dates and preorders in other countries and no news for Hong Kong.
Like i said, i asked my friend that works at Google Hong Kong and they told me they asked around and noone knows anything....
Hoping it comes out soon, my current phone is 3yrs old and this is most likely my next phone
dying to know this myself as i'm based in HK too. Huawei has a really big retail market here in HK so I think there will be a set release date with no need to preorder from google. Retail shopping is so big here.
I guess it most likely will be available this year. ?HK is not a big market and it probably won't make a dent in their small inventory.

Ye, it won't make a dent in their market with Nexus phones but there is a lot of authorised Huawei retail stores in HK which will stock them locally. Judging by that, there should be stock on release date.
Nexus phones aren't big here in HK but since its Huawei, and their presence in HK, it should do pretty well.
I remember Nexus 5 wasn't even for sale on any big retail stores. It should change this year.

That was what I thought when the N5 came out. I thought the retails shops didn't have them but they did stock them. I just asked and did have them in stock. Huawei HK website doesn't even mention the 6P so don't know what they are doing now. Like it was with the N5, the retail stores sold them at a premium compared to the Google Store. This will most likely happen this time around with the 6P. Google, make them available in November 2015!!!!!
Hey guys, so I was getting impatient too. I recommend you check out price.com.hk for list of shops that take reservations. I pre-ordered with CW Professional shop in CWB; they provide official warranty and I can pickup the 6P between Nov 3-6. I can't wait!

Madeo,
Nice heads up on the find but watch out where they get their stock. Is this the 6P China version? HK version? North American version? I'm thinking their getting the China version which I don't know if there is a difference on the software side.
They said "100% 原裝正行, 中港聯保"
The official Google page have a sign up for news, but that's it.
I'm also waiting for official release in HK.
The Nexus 5 was available to buy in HK, it's just that most shops would rather sell you Samsung/Apple products instead. In the end I bought my wife a Nexus 5 directly from Google about a week after release.
We have to wait for Madeo to receive his handset from CW and see if it is legit or just wait it out. I have a hunch it will be available in November 2015 from Google Store.
How much is it and which model did you preorder?

The prices are always higher then Google Store. I remember they priced it at $3800 for 16GB and $4300 for 32GB for N5. Further, they are usually opened and demoed before purchase by the consumer. At least we know handsets from Google Store are sealed box.

Looking back at my purchase history, I bought a white 16GB for HK$3,198 on Nov 20 2014, it arrived about about 3-4 working days later.
Google price will always be around the same as Fortress/Broadway shops, but you don't get any extras (screen protector usually).
Luckily there wasn't any defects on the phone but I think it would have been very easy for Google to pickup and send a replacement anyway.
I bought the Aluminium 32GB for 4688$HK ; that's the expected official price from the playstore hk. I'll let you guys know as soon as I pickup my device. Google will probably release the 6P in HK late November or early Dec but I can't wait; my current phone is dying on me.

Madeo,
Yes, who knows when they will start selling in HK (Google Store). Since, CW sells it at the Google price then it is all the better for the consumer. My Desire 820 alarm is all whacked. It comes on only a few time during the work week which is killing me.

Anyone check out Sin Dat for the price and availability. Also, any cases or tempered glass screen protectors available in HK yet.
