Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 P3100

Interesting. I like the continued support of the SD card and supporting up to 128 GB is awesome. But is a dual core processor enough for a high end tab?

Works well in the Nexus 10.

Do you like waiting for almost 6 months for an update or do you want it to be on your nexus the next day after it comes out? And nexus has no stupid ass Samsung crap in it. Go nexus you won't regret.

I just sold my galaxy tab plus (very similar to tab 2). Couldn't stand the random reboots or the lack of support from Samsung. I heard last week that they are finally rolling out ics for the 3g version in Europe. Still nothing for the US or even the wifi version.
I think I am going to try to stick with nexus devices in the future.

I've had my Galaxy Tab 10.1 since last fall and I've never had a problem with it other than the limiting 16GB of space. No random restarts or reboots. I dumped the TW launcher for GO Launcher HD and never looked back. I barely remember what TouchWiz looks like.
I'm looking for a smaller tablet or PMP right now. After months of dealing with the lack of space on my Tab, the lack of storage on the Nexus killed that from me right from the start. At least offer a 32GB model for $299. Not all of us are surrounded by hundreds of free wifi hubs where we can stream video on the go. I want that stuff on my tablet. And with HD movies around 5-6GB each, it's not unreasonable to want more than a solitaire app and one movie on a tablet.
OTG cable and a usb stick...
Root your tablet and connect a usb disk

Can you get more memory by removing apps

Can you get more memory by removing apps on the nexus 7.I saw the nexus 7 8gb have only 5.9gb

I think you're better off putting all media in the cloud, and only apps on the nexus. Then figure out how to use a usb stick during the times you might need your media offline. That was my plan with another tablet anyway, but I never actually needed to use my flash drive... In over a year... Its good to know it can be made available if you do need it though. I did use over 8gb space though, so I bought 16gb nexus. I am gifting the 8gb nexus to someone who uses a kindle fire without running out of room. The device you need depends entirely on your usage and availability of wifi or data tethering.

The first 2 GBs are taken up by Android and the file system. Not much you can do.

Hmm.... I only use nexus 7 for some hd games, surfing, YouTube. All my videos, music are already on my galaxy s2. I think I can live with 8gb

Nexus 7 vs Galaxy Tab 2?

Hey Guys.
New to the nexus 7 forums. But, i wanted to ask a simple question..
which is better??
Nexus 7 or Galaxy Tab 2??
Well, Nexus 7 is pretty cheap and i've been wondering why.
Plus, When will Nexus 7 be available in stores for India and Dubai??
Thanks.

Obviously Nex7 because you will be able to update it to android 5.X.X when it comes out.

Has this been confirmed somewhere? The N7 doesn't have expandable storage, which means if I buy it would have the be the 16GB one.
Yup. It has no micro-sd card.
But can we still copy files on it?
Sorry for that n00b question.
BTW, anyone knows when it's out in dubai or india?
If you can live with 16gb then the nexus is the better choice. Tab 2 has an older processor and inferior screen.

Pros
-its a nexus
-better screen
-faster processor
-its a GED
Cons
-limited storage
-skeptical build quality issues

I considered the Tab 2 as it was the same price as the 16gb N7 (both $249) and it had expandable storage. I bought the N7... I feel I made the right choice.

Okk...
I guess i'll consider the n7 more than the tab 2.
it has usb mass storage right?

If you root it and get an OTG adapter. I bought two for like $1.50 with free shipping.

Dubai Dubai 16GB AED 1299
India India 16GB INR 21465
I don't live in either of those areas so don't know how reputable the retailers are, But a quick search on Google and thats what I found
After buying an N7 on release date and within 3 weeks my screen cracking to bits I too am wondering which is the better tab. Agreed the N7 has better specs power wise but, I think that the galaxy tab will have superior build quality including gorilla glass which is now my main concern.
How did that happen? Thanks

If you want to use 3G,You need to buy a 3G+Wifi Nexus 7 which is a few dollars more than the original one. Check here.
I bought both!!! Tab 2 for my aunt Sally because I could use Team viewer Quick Support (only supports Samsung) to help her remotely. N7 for myself. Played with both and without a doubt N7 wins hands down!!!!!

hm.
Looks like the Nexus 7 is winning more votes.
Since it's even getting more development.
I like aosp for that reason

[Q]. Galaxy SIII seems smoother and quicker than the Nexus 7

I have both and I expected the Nexus to be faster. But overall. The GSIII seems faster. Both are on stock. I'm wondering who else feels this way if they have this combination?

1.The Tegra 3 processor in Nexus 7 is not as fast as Galaxy S3's Exynos 4412 quad core.
2.Nexus 7 runs on android 4.2.1,more resources consumed in the background thanks to the new features implemented by google.
3.Project butter is more of smoothness at a constant fps,the ui does not perform at high frames.
I believe it is due to 4.2/4.2.1 more than because of the processor. 4.1.1/4.1.2 were really fast and smooth....
Also, 2gb of ram helps make things faster.

But 2GB RAM is only in the U.S/N.America versions of the S3 that run Snapdragon dual core processors. The Euro Exynos S3's that run quad core have 1GB RAM.
My Evo 4G LTE is faster than my Nexus too, in terms of UI.
Well, the GSIII is also twice the price? Be happy that you have 2 decent android devices

I have both devices, but SGS3 is not stock anymore (stock kernel, though - so far). I guess it's greater fluidity and responsiveness is somewhat expected. What I notice a lot is screen density difference (GS3>N7, ofc), particularly on text. I also enjoy AMOLED saturated colours, let them be false, I don't care. GS3 is awesome, and was way more expensive where and when I got it then Nexus 7, so I guess it's only fair.

Using MultiROM with Nexus 4?

I've converted my Optimus G into a Nexus 4 and am wondering if anyone has tried to use MultiROM with their handset. Apparently it functions for the Nexus 7 with what limited knowledge I have in reading up on it. The reason I ask is because I'd ultimately like to run stock Android on some form along with Ubuntu Phone which has released is developer version to our phone recently, and this can be accomplished on the Nexus 7.
Should I even bother asking at this point I don't know, but figured its worth a shot as I love flashing roms whenever is convenient. I don't believe that Boot Manager in the play store is yet supported for the Nexus 4 at this point and if it were I doubt it would allow for ubuntu phone.

I don't have an answer for you, but how is your phone running since the conversion?

Because Optimus G is G+4, but Nexus 4 is just 4
It has ran just fine until the last month or so. Using an early cm 10.1 room with capacitive buttons and 8gb sd recognition. Lately my phone will randomly power off for no apparent reason so I will look to refresh my handset soon.
The Optimus G is considered a more reliable phone over the Nexus 4 from what I've read. It also allows for storage beyond 16gb since the att version includes that on board and allows external storage also. There is a HD ask to allow for 16gb internal recognized which I have not yet performed. No issues with my phone but rare overheating which I remedy by turning off my phone for it to cool down for a few mins at best.
