Talk Back and Slipper unlock lead to misery - Oppo Find 5

Just a warning if you use the Slipper unlock style DO NOT enable Talk Back or you will not be a happy camper. Talk Back breaks the ability to scroll in the menu settings as well as renders the device almost impossible to unlock if your using the Slipper Unlock. Only way I was able to end the insanity was by performing a factory reset.
**update** using 2 fingers allows you to swipe and scroll.. Whoops :-/

I had never even heard of these things xD What are they.

Talk Back is a feature in Android to have every thing spoken to you .. from selections to what's on your screen NY simply tapping it. You can enable it in your settings menu> accessibility > Talk Back.
Slipper unlock is just 1 of the 2 lockscreen styles on the OF5. Glass panel or somethingarather is the other one.

REQUEST: Go Straight to Pattern Unlock, Disable MenuMenu

I can tell by all the lock screens and mods such as this that this may be doable. I bought the phone a day after launch and immediately wanted this:
Disable Menu-Menu to unlock
Disable the HTC lock screen (pulldown style - I hate this)
Most importantly - Only the END key should power the phone (not MENU) and it will go straight to the pattern unlock.
Please and thanks. Currently on DamageControl v2.05.
Awesome idea. The only reason I don't use a pattern is because it's a pain to go through 2 lockscreens if your phone locks itself while browsing the web or something.
Go for it!! Let us know how it turns out...
I would pay $10 to disable menu to unlock. I found an app on the marketplace that did it once, but it was very buggy and caused more problems than it solved.
I would also like a keypad (as in, numbers) instead of pattern unlock.

I'm running Freshhh 2.0d with the Vanilla lock screen, and flipz has made it to where menu, menu will not unlock the phone. Pressing menu does turn the display back on, but you have to actually swipe on the screen to unlock. I have been using it for a day or two now, and I have to say that it works great. My phone doesn't randomly unlock in my pocket anymore, and I don't have to use the security unlock to keep it from doing it!!! Thanks flipz!!!
A lockscreen with numbers like on the iphone and the palm pre would be nice. i dont like the pattern one.

Strange.... I am running the same Vanilla Lock Screen from Geekforme/Fresh on Damage Control v.2.05 and Menu Menu bypasses the lock screen and Menu (once) powers the display with the Eclair style lock screen.
EDIT: I see what you're talking about now. That's nice, almost perfect, now all I want is the Eclair lock screen disabled too and to go straight to Pattern!! So close!

How can I disable vibrate/haptic feedback during unlock on the vanilla lockscreen now?

App request: Home/Optical tracker button to activate lock screen

Hi,
Would it be possible for someone here to create an app with the ability to solve the "only power-button activates the lock screen after standby" issue?
I'm thinking that this would be something a lot of Desire owners would see come in handy.
I would look into it myself, but not being a developer by profession my coding skills are zero. I've tried the app 'No Lock', but it just doesnt do it for me as my Desire wakes up in my pocket with the lockscreen deactivated.
(Couldn't find another thread regarding this, so forgive me if it's already been posted before.)

There is an app already called "myLock" which has an advanced mode that allows you to double press any button to unlock the screen, just don't use it with the HTC pattern lock as it messes up.
+1 for this.
Btw, you can try LockBot. It is neat, but the disadvantage is that once you get a call, the lock deactivates, which is plain irritating. If you are carrying your cell in your pocket and you receive a call, it might happen that not only the call gets answered/rejected but it can start dialing some random numbers as well! has happened to me once.
So its not perfect, but it works ok.
I just hated pressing the power button every time i had to unlock the phone.
Thanks. This is actually a usefull tool, and does the job well. However, i'd still like a tool that lets me choose a specific button for activating the unlock slider screen, as id like to keep the slider.
But thanks for the advice.

I've been using myLock for a few days now and updated this morning. I don't see the advanced features.
It's under mode select for me, press where it says auto unlock.
I believe this is what you want.
I press the menu button to wake up the phone, and menu or slide to unlock it.

Get rid of lock screen?

Is there any way of getting rid of the lock screen? I have a good case so i really don't need the lock screen. I have tried several widgets and apps that is suppose to disable the lock screen but it keeps popping up from time to time.
noLock free in the market, worked perfect for me when i was testing it out, but i like having a lockscreen now that i can make widget locker look like my home screen
lockscreen is important for security. Especially on a corporate enviroment (comapny forces me to lockscreen with code to prevent sensitive info on my tab getting viewed).
Also helps with tampering kids.
Im using nolock but lockscreen keeps popping up from time to time anyway. Its really annoying. As for security there are many ways to mitigate risks, one in this case would be to keep the gt out of reach of my kids (3 and 6). I see a bigger risk in one of them dropping it to the floor or something. ;-)
Check out an app in the market called Killswitch.
It's designed for use with tablets and cases. It removes the lock screen and turns off the screen when you close the case.
The dev of this app is active on here and is quite receptive to feedback. Name is 'ftgg99'

I actually already have killswitch, i like it, i just never used the no screen lock functionality in it, it was actually worse when i tried it out earlier. But i have now uninstalled Nolock, thinking that it might have been a conflict between killswith and Nolock when both where active. I activated the no screen lock functionality in killswitch and it seems to work ok.
Thank you for reminding me about the no screen lock functionality in killswitch.
Grrr the lock screen just popped up again, and i have activated the no screen lock functionality in killswitch!

What if you don't use it for anything corporate and keep it right away from any life forms under 5"4'?
Are you rooted?
swyped from a galaxy far far away...
LOLz don't blame me blame Samsung for not giving an option to cancel lock-screen. Besides 3 seconds to unlock a screen by simply sliding your finger across isn't much of an effort is it

its a Big screen. ;-D
I use my stock euro tab with my corporate exchange mail wich usually forces a password in addition to the screen lock which makes the thing useless for the family members...
I got myself the touchdown mail app and apart from being ugly and very advanced it actually only demands a password when using mail and calender app which is clever - stock 1 sec slide is the only thing needed to use everything else!!
Brilliant!
I had the same issue too as was using the corporate email on my tab. And found out a few weeks ago about touchdown. That resolved the problem. The issue with using corporate email is that you have to key in the security lock password all the time, and its really annoying.
To disable the lock screen just install "Battery indicator pro" and press "disable lock screen" on the main interface of the app, woks for 3 days without any issues.

Nahh. . . That did not work at all. . . Lockscreen keeps popping up, . . Does anyone know how to break it or something?
I wish I could remove the ugly lock screen, especially that I use the tab in landscape mode almost all the time.
I wouldn't mind the lock screen if it can rotate to landscape, is there a way to do that?

In killswitch select the 3rd lock setting on unlock on activation and it will skip the lockscreen it worked the best for me. Also do not kill the kill switch app or it might stop working.

Hmm. . . It just hit me that it might be the exchange sync that keeps enabling the Lockscreen through pushed security settings. . . Ill have a look into that tomorrow. . .
Nope that was not it, . . . Dammit!

Can't figure this out..

So I was trying out the AT&T GS4 and it has the feature where you start reaching for the phone and it'll light up the screen with clock and some notification. Fast forward, I returned the AT&T one (fear of locked bootloader) and went with Sprint. I can't seem to replicate the above feature any longer. Thoughts?
TIA
It's buried a bit; go to settings - my device - motions and gestures - air gesture - quick glance to activate it.

How to change the time on when you need to fingerprint unlock.

Not making sense my title. My friend just bought a GS5 for AT&T.. I have mine for T-mobile. He swiped his fingerprint to unlock his phone, then like 5 minutes later I picked it up to play with it, turned it on thinking I would need his finger print, but i didn't.. Just swiped to unlock.
He said he forgot where the setting is, but he doesn't have to swipe his finger every time the screen is off.. I do. and its kind of annoying.
Where is this setting pleasee???
I would imagine that he doesn't have the setting to lock automatically when he hits the power button selected.

ok here is the deal. I was able to find where I can have my phone lock with the finger printer after xx amount of time ( I set mine for 30 minutes ) but!!!!! What he has.. When he turns his display off and back on, he has to swipe to open it. Like a typical unlock, after 30 minutes though, his will require a finger print.
now with mine, after I finger print it, I turn the display back on and its just ON. I don't like that because of butt dialing or any other issues. I want to be able to swipe to open, after 30 minutes finger print.
We played with his today trying to find where he made those settings and he can't find it now.
ARGGG!! this is so annoying, lol
COME ON!!! Is everyone confused as well?? Are we all in the twilightzone?

WRONG!
Anyone else?
look.. It's this easy.
On his GS5. when he powers off his screen with the sleep button, and turns it right back on, he has to swipe to unlock. But every 30 minutes, he has to use his finger print.
Get it?? so if I'm driving home from work and unlock my phone 3-7 times, I don't want to have to use a finger print to do it, but I do want to swipe to unlock.
but every 30 minutes of inactive use, it will automatically lock to a finger print.
His is set this way, how is this done!

I realize this is annoying to you but your response to someone trying to help you was rude.
I also don't see anywhere other than the lock screen settings to manage your security settings. Mine also works like your friends, seemingly by default. The only thing I can suggest is to change the security to swipe and then back to fingerprint. Maybe it's some kind of glitch you found.

It's a forum, it's read differently to some people, it wasn't meant as rude. Although the reply was extremely basic, I know how to get into my security settings.
What I'm asking seems harder to find then a noob trying to root his phone. It is frustrating. It's a basic feature and I'd love to have it
Hello,
Go to lockscreen setting and set the lock automatically time to 30 mins. Also you will find an iption below stating lock instantly with power button, disable that option and you are done. Your phone will lock to fingerprint oly after 30 minutes of inactivity

Still not helping.. Again...
When I shut my screen off with the power button and turn it back on, it just turns on without any swiping needed. After 30 minutes finger print is needed.. But I want to have to swipe to unlock my phone, finger print within 30 minutes!!

This is how I feel right now
I'm on XDA forums, not some kiddy site and we can't figure this out.
someone mentioned it was a bug, maybe that is true? But I would love to see if someone can confirm this. Is it a bug. Is it simply NOT possible?
Do people understand what I'm saying?
It's not an app. He literally just bought the phone that day! He still talks about it with me all the time. I laugh at how the genius's here can't figure this thing out.
I mean.. Maybe I start a thread, "What do you use to unlock your phone"
I can't see people using fingerprint EVERYTIME to just open the phone for a second. It takes too long.
I think most people just don't even use the fingerprint option and thats why this thread is lacking any replies.
I use fingeprint all the time. I have looked at all my settings and cant find any options to set swipe as temporary lock screen.
I wish I could as I would like that option too. However I dont think that fingerprint takes too long. I just swipe my thomb and the phone opens.
Your problem sounds like something is preventing the phone from even locking. I had a similar issue on my Galaxy S4. There's an app called Swann View Plus that I would use for viewing our cameras at work. For some reason, whenever I opened it, clicked back to home, and then locked the screen, when I woke up the phone I would not have to swipe to unlock, it would just be there at the home screen.
Now I have the same app on my Galaxy S5 and it doesn't do that, however I would look towards some kind of app causing this issue. Wipe your device to factory and check to see if it is still doing the same thing as it is now, or if it does as your friend's does which is also what mine does.
