Yes, using a third party app is very likely.

I hope so buddy. I find the LED notification to be extremely useful. Great not having to turn on the screen each time to see if you missed something. Just wished Samsung got more creative with the notification like LG did with the Optimus Pro.

What I meant about "more creative" was that LG decided to make the LED notification around the home button instead of a blinking dot on the device. As far as apps, Light Flow is definitely the way to go.

Lg was not the first to come with that design. Just saying. My htc flyer had this design too.

Because you can't take your eyes off your phone, so a LED is useless
noled looks very nice
great to see NoLED working on the SII
I wonder how the new SAMOLED+ screen adjusts for battery savings with my app. I've seen through the videos that there are some screen brightness/color customizations that dynamically adjust to the image displayed on the screen.
I can't wait til I get my hands on this device.

It does look nice, until you notice that it drains your battery and keeps the phone warm to the touch since the screen is on the whole time when a notification is on the screen.
but since it has an samoled screen, i dont think that the whole screen is on, or not?
i thought a main advantage of BLACK on samoled screens is that the black pixels are OFF and only others need to be maintained with power?
Just use it and you'll see.

"Notifications via button light anyone? Will support LG 2X & samsung galaxy S2 initially. app next week. IMPORTANT: no impact on battery"
Carnt see it affecting the battery, i for 1 will try tuesday

Yea it is said it works like this. But I can't imagine the black pixels consuming 0% power. Can't wait for my Sgs2 in two weeks!

if you also know what you're doing and configure the app right. you could make it consume absolutely no more power than without.

Isn't there a LED indicator on the front of the GSII? Look at 0:15 of the below video where it blinks while phone is booting up:

the black pixels don't use power, but the display controller still has to be powered on and that uses battery too

No LED notification for T-mobile!!!

I wonder why T-mobile and ATT versions of Galaxy s2 phones don't have LED notification light! It looks like Sprint cares more about its customers.

there are apps that can make your buttons light up, LED style

That's hardly a solution and LED Notification lights can do more than just light a button up.
Not to mention it's very unattractive.

or use noled! its simple and i use it on my vibrant plus it has themes
When I tried my first Android phone (at Sprint) I returned it partially because it didn't have a notification light.
Years later, when I switch to T-Mobile, I knew about NoLED so I went with the Vibrant.... I don't use NoLED but "Missed Reminder" and I don't miss the LED.
I didn't know about the button light mod... I may give that a shot.

I didn't realize people are still using this after SIII since we DO have an LED notification light and apps like Light Flow and Light Manager to control them now.... any reason I'm not understanding? Feeling nostalgic or are more of a visual learner preferring to see the icon instead of a flashing light?

For me I like the larger, brighter, moving icon that catches my attention faster than a single LED. To each their own though.

Of course, just wondering! Thanks for your insight :good:
Can you look at the led light and tell whether an incoming message is Gmail or a text? NoLed has icon notification that lets you know what is coming vs just a blinking light.

I can tell the difference. I use Handcent SMS and it allows for custom LED notifcations, also a few roms had custom led color features.

Oh, the things you learn in the XDA forums. I had originally thought that the notification light setting was a dead end, and immediately imagined how nice an LED pulse light would be on a tablet. Coming from the light-less ASUS TF300 that I just sold off for this... Absolutely brilliant. Placement on the tablet is a different story though...
Yeap mine work with all notification .
Hate only white though, should have more choices out of the box.

I would imagine that the N3 has an LED notification light. But the N2 also has an LED notification light. It is just left of the top speaker grille, above the Samsung logo.
Great thanks. If the N2 has one then the N3 should have one two.

Multi-color please
My fingers are crossed the notification LED is multi-color (and more than just red/green/yellow) so you can quickly identify the type of notification without relying on a blink pattern.

I have the S3 and never really noticed a "blinking pattern"...
Mine just blinks (blue and green and red). On / off / on etc.
Tell me more about this pattern?
There are 2 dots next to the speaker grill, so there should be a LED notification light.
As to multi colour led lights, you can always use apps that make multi led colours! I have atm purple, blue, red, orange, yellow and green for my notifications.

Some phones use a pattern to differentiate different alerts (text, email, voice mail, etc.) and there are apps that let you control this too as there are apps that let you assign different colors.

This only works if the LED supports those colors, some LEDs are only 1, 2 or 3 colors like the HTC EVOs. They use a pattern instead of color, otherwise red for charge, green when charged or blinking green for notification and yellow for low battery.
I just hope the GN3 notification LED supports multiple colors. Is the notification on other Galaxy phones multi-color?
I would assume the Note 3 would have something similar to the Note 2. I have red when charging, green when fully charged, blinking blue for most notifications, blinking green for a text message. Don't see why they would get rid of that.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda app-developers app
If you have N2 and don't see LED notification light, then you probably won't see it on N3 either, because evidently you don't get anything to be notified about...
N2 has 3-color LED and these colors can be combined producing different colors (require additional apps or even kernel)
Don't worry guys, I'm sure the led is cheap enough for Samsung to keep in the GN3.
This video will answer all of you the questioning regarding the led notification:
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wkJJQ7ZJjZ4
NB: GN3 is the one on the RIGHT!

If anyone is still in doubt the Note 3 I had this weekend has a notification LED. I don't think Samsung has time to remove it in the next week or so.
