Hello! - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Nexus 10 community! I just recently acquired an Nexus 10 32gb and am very pleased with it. I just wanted to introduce myself on the forums.
Also I have a few questions (I know I should post this in the Q&A section)
1. How Do I Root?
2. How Do I Reflash The Entire Tablet (Everything(and Does it relock/reflash the bootloader/recovery))?
3. How Do I Unlock The Bootloader?
Thank You for your time!

Don't mean to be rude, but the point of a site like this is that it gathers and shares the questions, answers and experience of thousands of people on thousands of topics. It's organized in a pretty intuitive fashion, so you can navigate and find sections of interest. The search feature works just fine and can help you locate discussions relevant to your questions.
If you do a bit of searching and reading you'll learn quite a bit about topics like toolkits and what various members experiences have been. As with most topics here, you'll find all sorts of opinions, but with a bit of reading you can start to get a good sense of the issues and areas of disagreement, and make your own informed decision.
You'll find that you'll get a lot more help and support if you're willing to first make an effort to follow the guidelines described in the introductory topic area in the forum.

I guess you can still call me a "noob".

Howdy,
I've only been here a few months, born out of the curiosity to learn about rooting Android devices, in particular my S2.
In that time, I've tried a number of ROM and Kernel combinations and found a one that suits my needs - thanks!
While I'm in no way and expert in programming or coding, I can understand for the most part the sequence of events and logic behind what I intend to achieve with my rooted device.
In that respect, this post is more a comment about the state of play rather than a question, as I don't believe I'm qualified to post from a technical perspective, so probably limits my ability to contribute in that manner.
I would hope that my next comment is not taken the wrong way, but in recent times I've become frustrated with the amount of negative threads and comments in the various forums. It makes it difficult to find the answers that you're looking for when you have to wade through pages of irrelevant posts - the same questions appear over and over again.
I also legitimately emphasise with the developers of all the respective ROMS, who, let's face put up with a lot of crap especially when they're providing something that is effectively for free.
Anyway, that's my 2 pesos for this year.
Thanks and Happy New Year!

It is what it is.
In order to post and reply more broadly in Forums needs to submit 10 posts and clearly I can't just post "emoticons" and "lols".
As I can't yet pose a question in an appropriate Forum I'm limited to making comments.
So, no, my original post doesn't have a particular point...
Cheers
If you just want to increase your post count you should try posting at some off-topic thread. General forums are cluttered enough as they are.

This is literally the 4th post with this same question today.
All this toolkit nonsense drives me up the wall. How do people not want to learn the basics?! Spending a small amount of time reading would prevent 99% of the redundant posts around here.
Sorry OP. This isn't really directed toward you. Just more of a general statement.

I understand, it's just the search and the way this forum has everything setup. I vote for a Forum overhaul. Very hard to find anything. Thank you guys for helping me on this one. Because questions like this will always keep on happening. Or People will be forced to search in Google with XDA on the end just to find the right thread.

All you had to do was read the stickies. They have links to pretty much everything that you will need.
And whats wrong with searching google for the answer?

questions like this WILL keep on happening, because people are people. anyways, thats how i search for stuff on xda, with google :good:
It's not whats so hard in using Google, but this Forum has a Search Feature and it's so broken that you have to resort to Google a 3rd party site. I will be using stickies more often then, Thanks!
Or you can use the XDA search plugin for most browsers.

Man you guys love to complain.. If you are tired of a topic then why read it and post just to complain? The forum is probably filled with more crying and complaining than people asking about things that have been covered.
And it is not a bad thing to have more than a single thread about a popular topic. It makes it easier to find and it will get more people to the site. Let the mods run the forum..

Is there Paranoid Android for the new Nexus 7?

I have the Paranoid Android ROM on my previous model Nexus 7. I'd like to know if there is Paranoid Android for the 2013 model too.
Not trying to be rude but one of the rules of xda is to search before posting a question and especially before making a whole new thread.
The answer is yes btw but you need to learn how to use the search or even easier just go to n7 original development and look yourself. It's very easy

One of the other unwritten rules is you have to waste post space whining about people. It's perfectly clear that posts complaining about people not searching take up just as much if not more space on XDA than posts asking redundant questions. If you doubt me, do a search.

If this isn't the pot calling the kettle black, then I don't know what is!!!! Not to mention your post is longer, and takes up more space than the post you're complaining about!! There should be a list of XDA'S most contradicting posts, and your post should be number 1!!! Hahaha
Yes, I'm breaking this "unwritten rule" you speak of, but it's for a good cause, so that gives me a pass to do so, doesn't it? Sorry, haven't read the unwritten rules, so I'm not sure, and that's why I'm having to ask. Wait, they aren't even available to read, since they're unwritten. Well, guess I should have said "I haven't teleported them to my mind, so I'm not sure, and that's why I'm having to ask"

Got MK2 rooted using VRoot... However..

Phone root is perfect. Removed Chinese superuser . Now, is there a recovery that I can use to flash a custom ROM? I tried flashing CWM and TWRP, but the phone still boots to stock recovery...Is there even a ROM that will work with this damn MK2 firmware?

no.
Why is it that people don't do some reading? There is plenty of information about this in the forum already. I wish they would ban people for not following the rules and at least minimally trying to find things out. Did you even read the rules before you signed up?
Scott - give it a rest.
All of your comments are the same..... "look it up"
This site is NOT the easiest to locate information on. Finding information here is references to references to pages that at 128 pages deep with a blurb to look at another thread.
"Yeah but thats my point, if people read and did not ask questions because the answers are already..."... well its a little too late unless XDA has some users with AUTHORING capabilities to clean up the forums.
To Rickala..... I dont believe a custom rom is available at this moment, but I would keep an eye on the development section of this forum. Get Titanium Backup and freeze all of the ATT stuff, the stock rom isnt that bad
Good luck buddy

Posting questions without searching
I am not siding with (or against) anyone here, but to be 100% fair, the search function here is seriously lacking at times.
Example: In the Accessories section, a few days ago I was looking at a page of threads including one whose title was "Spigen Slim Armor View."
When I searched, from that page, for the word "Spigen," it returned a nothing found result.
OK, it NOW works correctly, but for a while there it absolutely did not.
Of course on the other hand, how can you miss it when a half dozen threads on the page clearly reflect terms related to what your question is about?
The bottom line is, people are generally lazy and will post things like "I'm new here so don't flame me, but I don't have time to read through hundreds of posts to find the answer, so I will just ask you all a really basic question that has been asked dozens of times."

I've found a Google search with the site: parameter is a good alternative.
ie: "Spigen Slim Armor View site:forum.XDAdevelopers.com"
It doesn't help with bad Grammer, spelling, punctuation or attitude, but it does return better results than the native search.
Give it a go.

Scott -
Did you read the rules?
Lets analyze this:
Why is it that people don't do some reading? There is plenty of information about this in the forum already. I wish they would ban people for not following the rules and at least minimally trying to find things out. Did you even read the rules before you signed up?
1. Search before posting.
.... If the OP found this forum, he must have done some type of searching, no? I mean if no search was performed he would had asked same question in the Droid Bionic forum
2. Member conduct.
2.1 Language: XDA is a worldwide community. As a result, what may be OK to say in your part of the world, may not be OK elsewhere. Please consider who is reading what you write and don't use profanity, sexually explicit language, rudeness or swearing. Conversely, while reading posts from other members, remember that the word you find offensive may not be offensive to the writer. Tolerance is a two-way street.
...I would think the majority of people would consider "I wish they would ban people for not following the rules and at least minimally trying to find things out" rude
10. Help others if you can.
If you see posts from others where you can help out, please do so. This place exists because people are helping each other, and even if you are relatively new to the matter, there's probably quite a few people with less experience than you, who could benefit from what you've learned. Don't be shy.
...I cannot spot 1 single item in your paragraph that even touches item #10
Rickala - let us know how your search turns out, good luck

Stop trolling. Your reply is useless and added nothing to the discussion (as have a couple of the others in this thread). It has already been widely reported that MK2 is root-able by both the V-root method and SuperSU survival modes. So there is no need for the OP to make screenshots.
Not trolling at actually. But isnt tje point of XDA to provide resources when making a statement root is available, steps one takes to get root so others can have it. Right? You should have camr back with a better response rather than saying root is available since you sre keen on providing links to "Rules"... to sum up soome posy credible resources gaining root.. Vroot or Kingo was NOT declared illegal by XDA. Warnings were posted that it seems to collect information during the rooting process deemed unneeded for rooting so we do not allow direct links at this time. Use at your own risk and discussion is allowed.

I'm the weakest link? Yet I have thousands of posts and over 1500 thanks. You on the other hand have less that 500 posts and less the 70 thanks. On top of that I have previously held the title of Recognized Contributor. Only was it lost due to a misunderstanding. Shall I call in @Naddict? He is a mod and will say the exact same thing as I have said.
How but this? If the OP can't take the time to browse the front pages of both the QA and General sections, I nor anyone else will have the time to help.
All this time wasted could have been time spent searching and gaining answers and in the future. Instead of being a helpless mooch, one could become a contributing member of this site.
Furthermore, SpiritFyre, you provided absolutely nothing to this thread. So why did you bother commenting? Was it to help or to flame? I was not being mean. I provided a legitimate answer in hopes that the OP would benefit themselves. Yet they want to be lazy and you want to say I am mean and am the weakest link.
Here is the deal. You, Spirit have provided little to this community since 2008. I have been here for only a few years and have provided more than quadruple what you have over many devices to include some that we have never even had forums for. If anyone has any say here on what I should do, it is me or a mod. Not you. Your unoriginal insult bares absolutely no possible help to the OP. At least I told them the exact section to look in, while you sit here and babble off old sayings and a line from the weakest link. And the OP needs to search. There are literally 3 sections with the answer. The general section that has a thread with a link to MY SS QA thread, the development section again has a thread with a link to my thread and the QA section that has *gasp* my SS QA thread. All of them are literally on the first page of each section.

All users are expected to do some searching prior to posting questions, those are the rules.
As this question has answers (as stated above) and it is clear there is not value of additional, constructive commentary in here. I am shutting this one down.
Users are expected to read, study, and learn. The back and forth junk does not help.
