[TIP]Xperia Z Camera Launch Delay Workaround - Xperia Z General

As most of you have already noticed launching the camera on the XZ takes noticably long by any standards. Here's a workaround that reduces the launch delay to about half
PHP:
Requirements:
-Launcher that supports activity shortcuts (i.e Nova)
Click to collapse
Howto: Nova
-Open add to home dialog by long holding blank area on homescreen
-Shorcuts > Activities > Camera > fastcapturing.FastCapturingActivity
Click to collapse
A camera icon is added to homescreen with that shortcurt as directory. This launches the camera faster than the regular app icon but is limited to opening in iAuto mode only.

Even better, if you have Nova prime, add it as a swipe gesture on your camera app icon so you have both options

What is there not to get? There is a long delay when opening the camera app. This solves it

Thanks, worked like a charm on the Apex launcher. The camera opens in less then a second

this can be done in the stock launcher too... add APPS > Shortcut > Camera > select the mode you want!!

That's actually far better. Can't believe I never noticed these options before!
Now I can have shortcuts for different modes - how awesome is that?!
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4

Is it possible to select the mode using Nova launcher?

Dude, you're a genius

With the stock launcher, you may have a try on the QuickShortcutMaker to add the activity shortcut.

Ipad-like mutlitask gestures on lg optimus one

Today I stumbled upon a cool app called GMD Gesture Control, it basically allows you to define global gestures that can be used anywhere and that can do any kind of action, kinda like the "pinch" gesture found in the ipad that closes the current app. The gestures can be defined with custom directions, actions or number of fingers. So you can for example swipe with two fingers down from the top edge of the screen for the device to go to sleep if you have an unreliable sleep button.
Here's the steps needed to be taken to use this app on lg optimus one:
1- Get the app, you can use the lite version for now which disables itself when the mobile is locked and needs to be re enabled, but it gives you a good idea of how the app works:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...dvb2Rtb29kZHJvaWQuZ2VzdHVyZWNvbnRyb2xkZW1vIl0.
2- Launch the app for the first time, it will show an error that the device is not recognized, here you have to override the default settings to support our mobile, you can do this by tapping the "advanced" tab at the far right, then you will find 2 options at the end of the list, enable both by tapping the "on" button. Then from the "Override multitouch device detection" list choose "touch_mcs6000", then choose from the "override touch events parser detection" list the option "HC_DEFAULT".
3- Restart the service from the main "General" tab, please note that I couldn't get our mobile to support more than 2 fingers gestures, keep that in mind when defining custom gestures or choose "single touch gestures" option in the default gestures tab.
Hope that you all find this useful, this app is extremely fun to use to switch between apps quickly, I use a swipe from the left-right bottom corner to switch between previous/next app. You can really create any kind of creative gesture as you like.
This app is incompatible with your MobiFone LGE LG-P500.
it needs version 3.1 and up

[GUIDE] Launching the Multi-Control Panel with a single gesture WITHOUT Root!

For HTC One with firmware 4.2.2 or above, there is a very handy multi-control panel with can allow users enable and disable many features like Wifi, Data, Auto-rotation etc.

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
However, the stupid Google UI design has made it very slow and complicated to launch the panel with 2 fingers simultaneously or swipe the notification bar down first and press the button to launch Control Panel.
Finally, I figured out a way to launch the Multi-control Panel instantly using one finer
It does NOT require root.
Here are the steps:
1. Download two apps at Google Play: "Nova Launcher" and "Swiping Home Button"
(The second app is a paid app, so you know it...)
2. Launch "Swiping Home Button and click "Binding"
3. You can customize your gesture here and personally I prefer to launch Control Panel by swiping up right (the one with Chinese word)
4. Click on the gesture you like and assign a shortcut to it. We are going to choose "App shortcut" here.
5. Choose "Nova Launcher"
6. Finally, choose "Extended Quick Settings"
You are DONE ! Enjoy the Multi-Control Panel instantly with one finger !

Hey Mate,
Does it mean that Nova Launcher has to be running at the background all times?
I really not sure. But I don't recognize any negative effect in terms of the phone's performance caused by this trick.

Since the device is not out yet this is considered a place holder which we do not allow.
When the device is out and someone can post an actual screenshot for the device they can open a thread.

Unlocked thread and pinned.....Tablet has been out cause i have one in my possession
Nothing fancy.
Utilitarian but clean home screens.
Features:
Dashclock widget shows time/date, location weather, unread emails and alarms
Minimalistic text for the rotated SSID and network IP widget, touching the widget loads up my PPTP connection manager VpnRoot
Swipe left or right and the only thing on the screen that changes is the vertical widget to a Widgetsoid switcher at a convenient thumb position. This is achieved by duplicating the clock widget on the two home screens, using infinite scroll and the 'swipe' transition in Nova
Nova Launcher handles custom gesture swipes (see below)
Holo Icons and Mianogen icons for the folder icons across the bottom, can't remember which is which
Custom gestures from Nova:
Swipe down - opens notification
Two finger swipe down - opens quick settings
Swipe up - opens app drawer
Two finger swipe up - opens Google Now
Double tap - opens notifications
Two finger rotate - Nova settings
Pinch out - voice search
Pinch in - task manager

Did you know?

Did you know you can turn off magazine app from opening when pressing the home button. There is an option for it ....... when magazine app is open press the menu button, then settings, then select open using the home key, un-check the box.
Well that was simple. Thanks, that stupid thing drove me nuts.
While on the subject, anyone know of any way to add new news sites to my magazine? Ie specific sites and not just a category?
Thanks I hate it too.
That thanks was purely for the sense of humour. He he

Did you know that you can create shortcut icons in the Multi Window panel that will automatically open paired windows of your choice?
If you didn't here's how.
Open the Multi Window panel on the left side of the screen, then open two apps that you use together. Now with both apps on your screen open the Multi Window panel again and look for the up arrow at the bottom of this panel and touch it. A little menu will open, select create. A box will then appear that let's you give it a custom name if you like.
More tips will follow and if you have a tip please feel free to add one.

You have to root it and install Wanam Xposed. That has a setting that lets you pick what apps you want to make available for multi-window.
Multiwindow Plus and Pen Window Manager will also do it, you have to be rooted for both though.
Xposed is easier, free and does lots of other awesome things

Nova Launcher Redraws

It seems I'm having problems with Nova launcher with redraws and widgets crashing. This is the same as happened on LGG3 2gb version but I thought the extra RAM would on the N4 would stop this.Anyone else having this problem? I haven't had long enough try stock yet but Nova seems a mess.

Nova launcher is running smooth on my Note 4 as well as my G3, never had any problems.
No issues here either. Perhaps give the latest beta a try and see....
http://novalauncher.com/beta/
I may have sorted it. The touch wiz launcher was also running in the background so that may have been using a lot of RAM as well as Nova. Seems OK now I think.
Hey guys, besides the obvious TW related functions, how is the s-pen working with nova? What about the window resizing?

Everything seems to work just fine. As a matter of fact I am just used to Nova I threw it on without thinking and then started discovering some of the nice window resizing features. One handed mode also works with Nova.
the big issue for me, nova wont let me thumbtack the action notes to a screen.
Nova is much faster than tw. The only thing I missed is the calendar widget

Hi, you can use this : http://https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.syncedsynapse.eventflowwidget it's good
I've been using Nova for long long time and nothing happened to me at all, I restored the backup from my M7 to Note 4 with TB, everything runs smooth and fast~
I switched to Nova on the first day because of the lag with the Google Keep widget (that displays actual notes) . It would stutter a bit when I would scroll to the page where the widget was present. Even with fancy animations enabled, Nova is running without slowdown or lag.
edem84, I also miss the monthly calendar widget, but found Month: Calendar Widget to be a good replacement. It does not display names of daily events, but you can tap the days and the event appears very smoothly. It also has a nice, free Google Now theme.

This is a major showstopper for me, too. I love attaching memos to the screen more than I hate TouchWiz (and I hate it a lot).
I can't get my app animation to actually slide up lollipop style, has anyone gotten this to work? I enabled it in the settings but it's not working.
