Yup bootloader has been unlocked, now just waiting for the info on the process to do so. And if you are not rooted on the latest OTA(4.1.2) its not possible to unlock until a root exploit or downgrade process is found.
Droid life is reporting a public release as soon as tomorrow

Hell yeah! Been waiting for this for ages. Thank god I stayed on 4.1.1.
That's great news! Maybe that'll get some more devs for the HDs!

"Today, Dan "Djrbliss" accomplished a feat that was said to be impossible. He exploited Motorola's 256 bit encrypted bootloader for the DROID RAZR M, DROID RAZR HD and Atrix HD. Many have tried all over the world and failed. Dan has proven yet again that he is a force to be reckoned with. We would nothing if it was not for this altruistic man. I tip my hat an say thank you once again for giving us everything that you do."

This is awesome news for moto users. I went as far as buying a dev ed razr m back in the day bc I was tired of motos bs but love motos ruggedness and aosp like ui. Dan once again does it. Going to be very hard to pull me from my Note 2 but the HD maxx is a good looking phone. I say bring on the x phone. My only question is how easy can Moto or Verizon kill this crack?

This has got to to be the best news I have read in the last week! My Maxx HD comes in today and I am hoping for an easier root method soon to come.
----Edit------
I had been harboring dread that my Maxx HD would come in with 4.1.2 and I am so glad it came in with 4.1.1 Now it is time to flash and root...

well dont get too excited yet cause if it comes in today from Verizon it will most likely have 4.1.2 which cant be root yet and cant go back so you will have to wait until root is released. i would bet it wont be long though
Ok so this means that I will be able to root my HD without loosing warranty? please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm kind of newbie on this world
Amazing. I can't wait until this is released to the public.

Numerous reasons. One being warranty if ever needed. And I really don't like doing anything to my phone that's not reversible.

(From what I have read though, it does not directly apply to the Atirx - but maybe it will make things easier for the devs??? Let's hope so!!!)

At last! Recoveries with full nandroid coming?
If someone can make this whole process work with the Atrix I foresee the Atrix becoming even bigger!
We will see, Seems motorola is a little mad
Ya well moto might be a little mad but we are alot more mad at them for locking it down in the first place! Hope this means I will keep the Atrix. If not then bye bye moto. 7 days left of my 30.

It's not a question of if it's fake or real, it's a matter of whether it will work or not. It was confirmed to work on a Sholes device but the devs are trying to see if it will work on the Droids and maybe the Atrix. Quit being such a party pooper. There's a thin line between being realistic and just being pessimistic.
Well I for one am waiting with bated breath. I hope that devs are trying these keys on the Atrix as we speak. (I'm sure they are, I mean HELLO!) We are all hoping for a new thread titled " Atrix Bootloader Unlocked!!!111" Here's to dim hope. Unleash this BEAST!!!

In accordance with the prophecy.
I was taking a look on the IRC ##pbf (freenode) channel of the developer who cracked the bootloader just to see/ask if the Atrix would be supported, this is what i got:
[02:19] <Guest75486> what differs sholes' phones from atrix mobile phone? i did not get why the atrix may not be unlocked by these keys
[02:19] <brttwrd> its newer
[02:20] <Guest75486> ok it is newer but is known to differ the way bootloader is encrypted?
[02:21] <brttwrd> no seriously atrix is newer, they possibly used a newer version of the previous locking system
So, let's hope Motorola did not change the way of encrypting bootloader. Finger crossed.
Saludos a los Argentinos!
Well we shall see how this unfolds, shant we? Keep us updated we are all biting our nails!
Well, any new news?
News is it doesn't work.
loool, too happy too soon

I have a rooted atrix already so this is pointless to me. but could be helpful to others. I have tried some of the automatic rooting programs and apps but failed miserably. so had to do it the old fashion way!!
but i came across this and it looks very promising.

has worked on other motorola devices. so who knows. could be a timesaver!

Because the tools involved are dangerous and cause permanent damage to the emmc, the method isn't especially difficult, but the tools are just to dangerous to let loose.
So a guide can be done up, but without the tools available to everyone its kind of pointless lol

Works on locked bootloaders. Flashed fine on my phone. Was trying out a way to keep root, but failed. So I figured I'd just go all the way and update the boot loader too since it won't let me flash back. No regrets. Don't use root for much anyway. If Jcase releases an exploit; since I saw on his twitter he has root; I'll probably will re-root. For now happy with my Kitkat.

It feels fast, but that could be a placebo effect. Will know as time passes. Have notice 1 issue so far. The multitask button acts funny sometimes from the home screen. The screen will flicker whenever you press it from the home screen and sometimes you have to press it twice. Don't know if this is intentional, but whenever you flick away all, but one app the multitasker closes.
